5.0 étoiles sur 5 The Perfect Tactical Folder For Me 26 août 2013
Par Matt Bailey - Publié sur Amazon.com

I recently purchased the XL Voyager Vaquero with a plain edge. This is without doubt the finest folding knife I have ever owned.

First of all, I think this is about the largest knife that can still be discreetly carried and easily accessed. At 5.5'' inches (Barely Texas Legal), the blade is larger than 90% of the tactical folders out there. All other things being equal, bigger is better in a tactical knife, resulting in longer reach, deeper thrusts, more effective cuts, and more intimidation value. The location of the clip allows the CS Voyager to be VERY discreet, mostly disappearing into my jeans pocket (and looking like just a common small folder) or, my preference, tucked into the waist band of my jeans. Here it almost disappears. I have worn it around all day in this manner, and it is comfortable while walking, sitting, and working.

Second, I believe the Vaquero blade shape is just about optimum for the job description-I've done some light test-cutting, and the drooping belly of the blade really maximizes the slicing potential of the blade, while the point remains pointy enough to thrust as well as anything.

Some people have reported it requiring a good deal of force to open and lock this and other knives with the Cold Steel Triad lock, but I have not found that to be the case. It opens easily with the thumb-stud and and the big blade has enough mass to also be flicked open with the wrist quite easily.

The legendary strength of the Triad lock needs no repeating, and as expected the Voyager Vaquero came scary sharp. For the $40-$60 you'll pay, this knife is absolutely a steal, and I believe you can pay a lot more for other tactical folders on the market while getting less.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Best Knife I've Ever Bought 5 juin 2012

I'm a low budget guy so for those of you who have a lot of cash to spend on knives please dismiss my review, but I've long been a fan of Cold Steel products and couldn't wait to get a hold of the Voyageur XL Vaquero. In terms of "wow" value, this is about as impressive a folder imaginable. I've invited a couple of my friends over to see it and they're very surprised by its ergonomic handle along with just how much they don't want to put it down after I place it into their hands. This is the first Tri-Ad lock knife I've ever owned and this feature is a real plus in my estimation. I don't see the lock ever jeopardizing my hand or anything else for that matter. Overall, this was an excellent purchase. Now on to the Espada or a comparable Syderco model.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Huge knife, easy carry 19 décembre 2014

I"ve had my eye on this knife for about a year and a half and when it went on sale for 40 dollars and change, I finally pulled the trigger.

First of all, this knife is BIG. It carries easily and comfortably, and I could probably EDC it, but it's so large I'm pretty sure I'd look like a lunatic if I whipped it out to cut the tape on a shipping box or open my little baggie of drink mix. It's pretty much a pocket machete to carry for self-defense, and in that capacity, it shines.

The knife is terrifically well-built and engineered. The Tri-ad lock is very positive and free from play. Texturing on the grip is very positive and aggressive. The only minor downside is that you might have to remove the pocket clip and bend it outward so it doesn't cling to the pocket so tightly. It was adequately sharp out of the box, but I re-profile and power strop every knife I own to razor sharpness so out of the box sharpness is kind of irrelevant to me. The Vaquero recurve blade is unique in the market and handles and cuts quite well. (I also own the 3")

If you want the biggest knife that will fit in a folding knife format, at a great price point, this is the one you want. If you wish to EDC it and your peers won't view you as a nut for carrying such a big folder, it will carry very comfortably. It's flatter and lighter than the Spartan and the flat grind sharpens really nicely. The 4" might be a better all-around compromise between defensive use and EDC, but the XL is a great knife for the price.

I have bought many cold steel knives but never bought an XL Voyager. When choosing a cold steel knife I would always consider an XL Voyager but would wind up buying something else. Well, when I saw the XL Voyager Vaquero for $45 from Rockies Gear Store I scooped it up. Sweet Mamaloosha!! I should have bought this knife a long time ago. It is as sick as the large Talwar and Espada but way lighter. I like the full aluminum liners that ad strength but not weight. If you like the Raja II, you'll like the XL Voyager Vaquero better. After carrying it for a couple weeks I bought another one. This knife for $45 is the sweetest deal out there.

This knife is BIG but still fits inside my pocket even though the clip is super stiff and a b**** put on my pants. It was razor sharp out of the box and is very easy to deploy via thumb stud or just flicking your wrist because the blade is so big. The handle material allows a nice grip and purchase of the knife but could use some jimping on top of the blade for your thumb to rest on. Overall I like this knife alot and will probably purchase the tanto and clip point to go along with this one. Buy it you won't regret it believe me.
