He has become forgotten among the early 1900's authors such as H.G. Wells, Edgar Allan Poe, and Arthur Conan Doyle who developed the Mystery genre. The industrial and scientific revolution were taking place and the 'impossible' was becoming reality nearly daily.
These authors pushed that 'what if' plausibility into the field of the occult and mysterious.
His stories, like others of his period have a languid flow, that you must just let flow over you, feeling the texture of the words and phrases they use. Just the antithesis of movies with their 2 to 3 second scenes, characters will be introspective for page after page. And they try to make the story more believable by writing as "my journal" and referencing newsworthy items of the time. Its also interesting to note how many phrases, concepts and items which we consider modern were every-day over a hundred years ago.
The price of the kindle version of this 'collected works' just cannot be beat.

Bram Stoker wrote many other pot boiler supernatural novels than Dracula. Dracula was the best-known of all his novels, but the others have tales that are just as entertaining. A cautionary note must be inserted. The writing is dated as befits stories churned out in the Edwardian Era in England. The language lacks simplicity that is common today. If you don't like to wade through some stiff verbosity here and there, then pass this compendium up. However, this collection of Stoker's novels have some unique story lines with plenty of twists. This collection is for serious readers, not those who want to zoom through. If you want to see what else the author of one of the world's most famous novels came up with, then buy this. Remember that Stoker was part owner in a popular theater and knew what entertainment was all about.

You just can't go wrong with a classic novel by this author. Dracula was always a favorite of mine growing up and I'm so pleased to own all his works.
