(...) 5.0 étoiles sur 5 This book is a delight! 16 juin 2014

I bought this book for my son who is an aspiring musician, and I will have to buy him another copy as this one no longer looks new. I can't put it down. It has so many applications to life whether you are a musician or not. I am going to recommend it to my friends as gifts for them to buy their musician husbands. It is well written and the format is pleasing. When I bought it, I had no idea the author was a Christian. For me that is a plus, but if one is not a Christian, it won't affect the value of the book. He's not trying to evangelize the reader; his faith just makes him who he is.

I can't give enough praise for this book! Zoro has been on the scene for decades now as a sideman, author, teacher, and clinician. If you have ever seen his drum instructional series called "The Commandments of R&B Drumming", you know he is extremely organized and meticulous in gathering and presenting information, as well as being very inspired player. He takes that same energy into this book, detailing how to make a living as a professional musician. While Zoro himself is a drummer, any musician can learn from the lessons laid out in this text. Some may seem obvious, such as timeliness and having an agreeable attitude on the job, but in practice many musicians do not function in this capacity, and truly great players lose jobs because of things like that.

There are many books out there for learning different styles or chops, but very little detailing the day to day functionality of being a professional working musician. Zoro lays out a series of must read topics, such as touring, recording, networking, marketing, improving as a player, unions, negotiating pay, and many more. Hearing anecdotes about nightmare gigs or strange characters he has dealt with will definitely make you laugh, for myself many of those stories hit too close to home! Zoro is a masterful player and a great teacher, and this book cements his ability to inspire and inform. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy!

Z,
Just wanted to say how much I love the new book. I'm about a fourth of the way
thru & I'm completely enthralled with it!

I've always felt that you & I share similar thoughts, which I'm sure, has
brought us to cross paths. But reading deeper into your book, shows more
insight to your thoughts, your dedication to your work, & your conviction to a
job well done, traits we both share deeply.

One thing that brings comfort to me is that I have always kept a high standard
for myself, have always thought that my role as a musician is no less noble
than that of any other "professional". To read that you have similar beliefs,
& to follow your success, only proves further, that I truly am on my path, one
that is noble, & as long as I keep true, my vision of success will manifest
itself when the time is right!

I enjoy being a musician & a molder of minds. To inspire, you need to be
inspired! Watching someone like you, & being able to share that w/the next
generation so they can continue that cycle, is a blessing in and of itself.

You book is beyond the "typical" music book. You book tackles the one question
that NO OTHER PROFESSIONAL DARES ANSWER do to the typical thought process
of "if they share how "they" made it, it may take away from their success. You
book is an excellent guide for some one looking to not only have career success,
but to have a successful life, something most people fail to achieve.
Thanks for all you do and may your book touch & inspire many, many lives!
Steve

This book will be the reason that I become who I am working on becoming as a musician. I have more courage in myself than I ever thought I could have. It has been the most helpful piece of literature I've ever read, and has affected my life in such a way that I am going to be great because of it, and because of the one that put greatness in me. It even brought me closer to Christ. I recommend this book to everyone, musician or not, that has a dream or goal in mind. It is a very encouraging book and Zoro takes you step by step to show his mistakes, errors, good decisions, and mindset. It is an amazing book. PLease Read It. You Wont Regret It. Thank you so much Zoro. Phenominal musician and vision, and amazing book and advice. THIS BOOK IS FOR EVERYONE

I purchased this book six months ago and it sat on my shelf until three days ago. My only regret is waiting this long to start reading it. I've NEVER been into reading. The last book I finished was "Dirt Bike Kid" in 5th grade. This is the first time in my life that I've opened a book and can't put it down! I'm now more motivated than ever and I'm making huge changes in my personal and professional life to help advance my career much faster and much further. I'm already planning on reading it again when I finish it. SO much useful and valuable knowledge in here and more motivational quotes than one could ever remember. I'll be suggesting this book to everyone trying to accomplish anything. Whether they're a musician or not this book will help them get on the right track and stop wasting time. Thanks so much to Zoro for the inspiration!! When I get my "big gig" I'll owe a big part of it to this book. GET THIS BOOK!!!
