HASH(0x951f2a50) étoiles sur 5 Rebbetzin Jungreis is a well-spring of wisdom! 8 juillet 2003

The wisdom shared by Rebbetzin Jungreis reaches deep into the soul of humankind, having meaning and appeal both to the Jew and the non-Jew alike. If you like the writings of authors such as Chaim Potok, Isaac Singer, and Nathan Ausubel, you will love Rebbetzin Jungreis.
Drink from her well-spring of wisdom to receive health and nourishment for your marriage as she quotes from the Torah, Talmud, the sages, and adds a wealth of information from her personal experiences as well.
These all combine to weave a beautiful tapestry of love, unity, and mutual respect between the husband and wife as they bring the revealed will of The Almighty into clear focus for their marriage.
In addition to this book, I highly recommend that you also purchase her book entitled "The Committed Life" and read them as a combined set. The wisdom in both books will enrich and change your life.

HASH(0x9516b03c) étoiles sur 5 How to establish, maintain, and restore a good marriage. 29 juillet 2003
Par E. Bukowsky - Publié sur
Format: Relié
Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis is well known for her outreach, lectures, and popular newspaper column. She is also the author of "The Committed Life," in which she wrote about the spiritual rewards of living according to the precepts of the Torah. In her latest book, "The Committed Marriage," Rebbetizin Jungreis convincingly shows that a man and woman whose marriage is faltering may be able to revitalize their relationship.

Jungreis avoids lecturing us. She presents many pertinent and interesting anecdotes that demonstrate the importance of treating your partner with respect, communicating with him or her effectively, and persevering when the going gets tough. The reason that Jungreis's words do not come across as didactic and condescending is that she infuses her advice with love, compassion, and deep psychological understanding. Jungreis's beautiful writing style flows smoothly and effortlessly. Her warmth and concern shine through and embrace the reader. The book is enhanced by Rebbetzin Jungreis's frequent and personal allusions to the words and actions of her late father and husband, since these two spiritual giants exemplified the purest Torah values.

Cynics may dismiss the ideas brought forth in "The Committed Marriage" as simple common sense. Unfortunately, common sense is increasingly uncommon these days. In our "me first" society, too many individuals hide behind their busy schedules and neglect the most important people in their lives. I recommend "The Committed Marriage" for those who want to have a more meaningful, harmonious, and joyous marriage.

HASH(0x9541a1f8) étoiles sur 5 The Definitive Guide to a Successful Marriage 20 octobre 2006
Par BklynGal54 - Publié sur
Format: Broché
If there were ever a book of this genre that could be categorized as the magnum opus of marriage guides, this book would be it. In this warmly written, and most engrossing book, Rebbetzen Esther Jungreis drawns upon decades of experience counseling couples who find themselves struggling with marriage related issues as well as individuals who are seeking to find their soulmate and life partner.

Rebbetzen Jungreis' brilliant sage advice and words of guidance are predicated on the wisdom of the Torah, as she invokes the name and declares the praise of the most powerful and unifying force in any relationship, the Almighty G-d of Israel. As the architect of the universe and the creator of all life, G-d in His infinite wisdom gave us the ability to sanctify the marriage relationship, to transcend the mundane and the physical and to elevate ourselves to a level of holiness that is an essential ingredient to any successful and happy marriage. As the Rebbetzen explains, the words in Hebrew for a man and woman have the same letters, and these letters spell the word fire. Man and woman are analagous to two fires, both consuming each other. The Hebrew letter, Yud, which stands for the name of G-d must be included in the names of man and woman in order for stability, harmony, peace and genuine love to reign supreme.

Rebbetzen Jungreis speaks with the authority of a clinical psychologist and marriage counselor, while imbuing those she counsels with a solid spiritual foundation that will serve as an anchor in the turbulent waters of marriage conflicts. The values and ethos that she imparts are ones that will endure the multitude of challenges that are endemic to everyday life and that are particularly prounounced in marriage. Her compelling and emotionally charged writing style is infused with the greatest of respect for the intelligence and sensitivities of the reader, as she steers clear of preachy or didactic rhetoric, that is all to commonplace in the vast array of books of this kind.

This book is permeated with such a deep and intense level of warmth and love that can only be termed palpable, as its words reach deep into the heart and soul of the reader. Her words are real, as is she, and your soul will be lifted to the highest of levels. It is clear that Rebbetzen Jungreis is a scholar of Torah and her insights into the wellsprings of these sources smack of the kind of profundity and sheer genious, once only reserved for venerable sages.

This book is a must read for all those considering marriage and for those who are experiencing difficulties or problems in marital relationships. It is a book that will have far reaching effects for future generations and should be required reading in all secondary schools. This guide on marriage is timeless, as is the Torah that it is built on and its lessons will resonate for all of eternity.

The Committed Marriage is another fine book by the Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis on finding and builing a sucessful marriage in today's world. This book looks at life as seeing the glass as half full as opposed to half empty.
Many of the stories are quite inspiring particularly the one of Jackie who loved her husband even though they lost nearly all their money in the recent stock market crash. Other counseling sessions depicting marriages in trouble certainly give a fresh perspective to the many difficulties a couple truly has. However, Jungreis gives much sound advice and wonderful wisdom straight from the Torah.
It would be nice to have more information on what became of some of these troubled couples. At times, Jungreis does spend a little bit too much time on the bickering. It would be nice to have more information on how the couples did indeed resolve their differences. Nonetheless, there are many positive messages throughout this book that it certainly can be a worthy addition to those interested in spiritual and self help material.
Not as strong as The Committed Life but that book ranks as an all timer. A very worthy companion to the aforementioned book it certainly is.
