Présentation de l'éditeur

Do you take me seriously? Because I don’t. I use my jokes and easygoing personality to hide the pain I’ve felt since he took his last breath. I’m adrift without my partner in crime, my best friend…my brother. I can taste the vengeance just within my grasp.

Until she barges into my life. Promising me happiness and a peace I’ve been craving for years. She is the sun to my darkness, the happy to my despair.

But she holds secrets. Just like I do. She holds hers close, where I just pray mine don’t rock the walls we’re trying to build.

Now I’m stuck at a crossroads between my desire for revenge and my craving for her and the life we could have together—and I have no idea which road I should travel.

All I know with crystal clear certainty is that the past has the power to destroy it all.

*No cliffhanger* *This book is not suitable for younger readers. There is strong language, adult situations, and some violence.*

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Story of two brothers and the woman who made their family stronger and filled with more love than ever. 20 juillet 2014

If you haven't read the previous books in this series, please do (Especially Beck), because Chelcie and Asher are introduced in previous books and while this is their story, events from Beck play into this book as well.

I was a wreck in Beck because of events that brought Asher Cooper to town, but I didn't know how wrecked I'd be as I read about Chelcie's and Cooper's story and how those events would play into it until I was buried deep into this book.

In other words, especially if you have read Beck, have tissues at the ready because if you're a crier like me... you're going to need them.

We saw Asher Cooper begin his downward spiral in Beck and he was really down there at the beginning of Cooper when he's calling a woman by another's name (Chelcie) and Locke's cat is missing. He comes to realize that the one woman he doesn't deserve or shouldn't want, he wants. When he's around her, things are just better.

Chelsie wants nothing more from Cooper thank a distant friendship, yet she knows she needs to tell him about the secret she's keeping but because of how he's been, she's not sure she should. He has a right to know, but she knows she isn't ready to tell him yet.

Cooper and his Alpha ways and Chelcie and her strength, love, and encouragement help each other with their pasts, their building love, and telling each other their secrets.

At first, Asher is upset, but he comes around and it makes him love Chelcie and bond with her even more.

Will a woman from Cooper's past though, tear that apart?

I admit that because Asher wasn't truly a part of the other books until Beck and that I didn't grow to love him already in the other books, that I had my misgivings about this book and that I wasn't prepared to commit fully to it like I had the other books. I was kinda pissed actually that Coop didn't get his own book. But in a way, he did. To me, this was not only Asher's story, but Coop's story and Coop is very much a part of this book.

Harper not only showed Chelcie's strength and determination from the get go, but she made me root for Asher as he looked for Locke's cat and bega to fight for Chelcie and for a life with her, a family with her.

Having appearances by all the gang, from Sway to Emily (the way Emily showed up was AWESOME) just helped with the closeness of the characters and drew me into the story even more.

I laughed, got angry, cried, and cried some more, but in the end, Harper Sloan soared with this book. It is not a filler before Locke's story. It is the story of two brothers and how one woman made their family stronger and filled with more love than ever.

This is one of those books that you finish and go "I can't even! I just can't!" and continue on with the unfinished exclamations going around your head until you pass out from emotional exhaustion.
I was introduced to the Corps Security series when I bought the Alphas on Top box set. I read Cage first and and fell in love with him & all the other Marines so I immediately ordered Axel. He was my fav until I read Beck, and then he was my fav. Then I read Uncaged and Cage was my fav again. So now, after Cooper, I think Asher is my favorite. I can't even...
I LOVE how Harper Sloan is so open minded when it comes to families! There are no mentions of blood lines and half/step/etc. It's all family because they chose to be family. I just love it and it is SO real life.
Cooper picks up about 4 months after Beck ends. We all know Chelsie is pregnant but now she has to break the news to Asher. He is messed up from the loss of his brother and not very grounded in reality so the secrets get out of hand before they come to a head.
Chelsie was and AMAZING heroine. One of my favorite of all time! She was strong and soft, she fought hard and tirelessly, she was honest with herself and spoke her mind. She knew what she wanted and went after it with the tenacity of a pit bull. She thought for herself, allowed herself to cry when she needed to, and then she picked herself up and went on. She was secure in herself and Asher, and she made no apologies for who she was, what she did, and what she wanted. It was so easy to love her and be invested in everything that was important to her.
I love, love, love how Harper Sloan planned out this series. I almost expected Cooper to be an afterthought, an addition that doesn't really add much to the overall story and leaves you a little disappointed~ but it doesn't! Not in any way! It is a complete story on it's own and adds elements to the overall series that are vital! There are several flashbacks that explain so much about Zeke Cooper, why he did what he did, who he was, and who Asher was. It makes sense now!
Harper didn't cut corners, thought out all angles, and made 2 brand new characters as vital as the originals. She also used the story to give us some more info into everyones absolute fav Marine, Maddox Locke. We are all dying to know his story and there are some important clues in Cooper. YES~ we even find out what Dee saw at Cohen's party! I was dying for that piece of info and it all kinda' falls together now. I can not wait to see how Harper tells his story!
Sway wasn't as prevalent in this story until he played a big part in the end so I hope HS adds more of the stylist in Locke. He was so important in Beck and I missed him in Cooper.
I laughed out loud more than once, I cried, and I felt so much while reading Cooper. This series gets better as it goes along and I can't wait to read more.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Entertaining If You Like Jerry Springer Like Theme 21 juillet 2014

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this book. Same hot alpha man, adorable, smart, witty, somewhat vulnerable heroine. We get to revisit with the characters from the previous books. Hot, sexy love scenes, what's not to like, right? Great chemistry between the characters. I guess for me, it was a little too Jerry Springer-ish that Asher fell in love with his dead brother's baby mama. Now, I know that Chelcie and Coop weren't really a couple, they had a one night stand, but it still felt weird to me, she was still carrying Coop's baby and he just died! The 2nd thing that was weird is that their relationship didn't bother ANYONE! There wasn't one person at the CS that didn't say, "wait a minute, this is strange?" And then finally, the little dramatic twist at the end where Chelcie is in danger (won't give it away) but really? Out of left field and therefore it seemed contrived and unbelievable. I'm really sorry I can't give this a better review bc I like the series a lot, and I plan to read the next book which focuses on Maddox, but this one didn't quite do it for me. I have read other books where the brothers are involved with the same woman, so I know this is a common theme in romance novels (I thought Kristen Ashley did a nice job with this theme in her latest book, The Promise) but it just didn't work for me here. It's not the writing, which was great, but just the theme/plot just didn't seem plausible to me. Sorry I can't give it a higher rating.

"I can't move on from this hole I've seemed to dig for myself until I start to build the ladder to climb back up. And that all starts and ends with Asher."

After reading Beck, I knew this continuing story was going to be an emotional one for me. Cooper was an amazing man, and so funny. He left the earth a hero, but his legacy would live on.

Chelcie Avery never anticipated being a mother yet. She had plans and goals for her life. She wanted to someday meet a great guy, have a wonderful romance, and the settle down. She never imagined becoming pregnant after a one night stand, and then loosing the father before she could ever tell him. Another thing she never expected was to have feelings for the father's brother; Coop's brother Asher Cooper.

"I might still be holding a ridiculous crush on Asher Cooper, but I like to think that even I'm smarter than to let that torch burn when it's clear he wants to stay in the darkness."

Asher Cooper is a broken man, but he puts on a good facade most of the time. He spent his childhood protecting his little brother from their awful mother and the bullies they faced daily. His brother was his everything, and when he was taken away, Asher fell into a deep depression.

"My brother was my reason for living. For as long as I can remember, he was the reason I woke up, and now he's gone, I have no clue how to move on from this darkness I've been drowning in. Every time I close my eyes, I see his smile and it kills me to know that I wasn't there to save him when he needed me. For the first time that I can remember, I let him down."

My heart broke in so many pieces for him and his loss. The only person that made his life just a little bit brighter was the girl that lived in the same building as him, Chelcie. The attraction in undenyable, but it's not easy. Chelcie has this major secret that she's holding onto and she knows that Asher needs to know, but will it destroy him more?

"Why do you keep acting like I'm going to hurt you?"
"Because Asher...Because you hold the power to crush me, just like I hold the power to do the same to you."
"The last thing I want is to hurt you in any way."
"I know that, and I feel the same way."

Oh my gee!! Asher's reaction to his brother's legacy living on killed me! I was a mess! Grab some tissues, and maybe a chocolate bar! hehe

"I'll love this baby regardless of whether you want me in your life or not, but God, baby, please let me be the man you both deserve."

Come on!!! Seriously! That man is...gahhh!!! Plus, the way he calls her Sunshine makes my heart melt just a bit:)And she calls him baby and he melts. It just great!

"What is complicated to you is our perfect."

Harper has such a way with words when it comes o these alpha males. I swoon, I cry, I laugh, and I want to hold them. Even though things are working out between Chelcie and Asher, demons still live within your mind. How do you move past them? Can you ever really get rid of the darkness to see the light that's right in front of you?

"You have to start living you life for the future that you're alive for, not the past that you're willing to die for."

That line! Wow! Again I say, Harper draws you into these stories and you only want more!

Asher and Chelcie's story hit home with me a little because of a loss I've went through. I love how she showed that it's okay to still grieve, but don't forget about the world around you and those that are still living.

I loved this book so much and now I'm so much more excited for Maddox's story!! I don't want these men to go away!!

I was a little leary about reading Cooper. I so did not want to relive the details of what had happened. And I thank you Harper for not giving them to us!!
No, as for Asher, he’s not dealing with Coopers death very well. He doesn’t know how to act, what to do. His whole life was about taking care of Zeke and he feels like he failed him. There’s nothing left in his mind to protect or do. That is until…
Chelcie slept with Zeke right before he was killed. A secret she holds will change her life and Asher’s forever. She has a mighty attraction to Asher but how does she tell the man she wants to be with that she’s pregnant with his dead brother’s baby?
This is a hard road that Chelcie and Asher go down to learn to live and love each other but can Asher let go of the revenge he wants to dish out in order to spend the rest of his life with the woman who brought him out of his darkness and the baby who represents everything he believes he failed to protect?
5 amazing stars for this book!!! Harper, I believe this was your best one yet!!
I cannot wait to read Maddox Locke!! Please hurry!!
