Surprised how much I liked this story, since I am not a big fan of menage stories. The three parties involved had such different personalities, it's not surprising that it took a while for them to all get together. The more submissive smaller mate seemed to be the catalyst the other two needed. I really like how Ms. Hagen is making sure you don't confuse this series with her other bear shifter books.

The parameters for a successful mateship with a bear shifter can be a bit offputting especially to a human and a dominant one at that. The only way a bear knows his true mate is that one of them becomes pregnant after their first time having sex (provided there is a mating bite). What?!! You bearly know the guy and BAM! you're pregnant, so much for courtship and getting to know each other...too late you're mated for LIFE!!!

Talk about a very reluctant mate, the Bear County sheriff puts the rest to shame. Not that I can say I blame him, especially since he did witness a man giving birth loudly and painfully right before the father mate shifted into a huge bear and shocked as well as scared the bejesus out of him. It takes two really special men to make him see the error of avoiding bear shifters was a foolish misapprehension on his part.

When a small visiting bear from Maine gets arrested its the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back. Everything about him - his looks, his size, his scent, his tears, his sweetness, his indignation draw his men like bears to honey. They are jealous that each was with the other instead of with him and nothing is resolved until all three get together. The pregnancy cravings are hilarious.

The job of sheriff even in a small town can be fraught with danger, the drug dealers at the trailer park of course greatly contribute to that. It is very stressful being in a relationship with someone that works in law enforcement. You are so afraid for them and they can always be on call in a small town in particular a sheriff facing re-election. But when the desire to protect and serve is in your blood you just pray your mates understand your commitment and dedication to the job.

The horse ranch is bursting with couples and kids, silver haired romance, and one sad lonely bear. Hopefully Bryson will get his mate soon. I look forward to it. This series just keeps getting better.

The third book in this fantasy series. I bought it on a whim. This is a ménage story about two bear shifters and their human third.
Sheriff Zack Sparrow is obviously a Native American with past in some kind of agency, but living now in this relatively small community. His biggest problem, besides a difficult deputy, is his attraction to one of the co-owner of Triple B ranch, Clayton. In this story/series men can give birth to children and that is what Sparrow had unintendedly witnessed – something that had scared him a lot.
Then into town arrives Josh, cousin of Harland, another of the co-owners, and suddenly there are three men attracted to each other. It's an unusual, and thus surprising, event in the world of the bear shifters.
There is suspense in this, tied to Sparrow’s job. The danger that gets him even shot. Something that allows the men to get to know each other better. But by then it's too late. Josh is already expecting.
My objection (if you can accept the physiologically impossibility of men giving birth) is actually the cover picture - Sparrow is described as having long hair.

Really wanted to liked this book but couldn't help wanting more love shown as a triad mating. It show the more love between Clayton and Sparrow. Kind of made Josh a tag along. Especially after the birth when they got to hold him and then went shopping together all with out Josh. Then added the sex scene at the end that I think was to add Josh in, still left him as a after thought. They all could of touch more. I know they're guys but they showed love when it was two of them. When it was the three of them they didn't even sit close or hold hands.

This was an enjoyable addition to the series. I didn't connect as well with these three men as I had with the men featured in the other books. Huh. Wonder why? Doesn't matter. I still liked it.

Lynn Hagen has been one of my favorite authors for a while now. Although, her early works were my favorite by far. Seems she is not putting as much into her books now, more predictable.
