3.0 étoiles sur 5 Not as useful as Princeton's other books 23 février 2015

If you've read the other AP Review books from Princeton you'll notice this one has a lot less content (particularly in regard to the essays) and was written in a very generic form. I think this book would help more if I wasn't already taking the class for it. My teacher tends to be a better resource for this subject. I don't think it's the fault of the authors or Princeton, but just the structure of the exam makes it difficult to prepare for. After all, you won;t know what essays you're writing until it's time to write it. Although I found the review books on other subjects - AP United States History and AP Psychology, as well as their ACT Prep books - to be very helpful, I would not recommend this one if you are already in a class.

Out of all of the princeton review guides this one is the least helpful, I had great experiences with the U.S history and Spanish books as they were jam packed with study material but this one (albeit it does offer information and vocabulary terms and words) provides over 100 pages of vague information and feels like an SAT prep book. Although granted there isn't one sure fire way to studying for the AP language exam this one is a waste of time, youre better off studying other material because what you learned in class is what you will be stuck with on exam day.

Awesome! I bought this book because the AP Calculus AB book my Calc teacher provided our class was so great. I started studying from this about two weeks before the test, and really avidly the day before the test. I felt that it had a lot of useful tips and their "seven-minute passage" technique actually saved my butt on the last passage of the test.

The way this book is written is realistic and down-to-Earth, and there are even a few lighthearted comments that I felt kept the information from feeling too intimidating or studying from becoming too stressful. I really liked seeing their list of rhetorical devices and other important vocabulary. I felt that their insight was strong and I think that using this book along with watching a few essay walkthroughs online would really prepare a student for this test.

Unfortunately, my AP Lit/Language teachers (our course has two people teach at the same time) didn't really offer review help. I bought this book to study from independently, and I feel that if my teachers had integrated it into class throughout the year, my class would have felt better prepared for the test. There is a section in this book that tells you exactly how the timing will go, and even how many passages could appear on the test (it even talks about where the test comes from!). I know a few of my peers didn't know this information going into the test and were a bit panicked when there were more passages than they were used to seeing on practice tests.

Also, the AP Literature and AP Language tests ARE two distinctly different tests, and I felt that this book did a good job of communicating that. I was a bit hesitant to buy both their AP Lit and AP Language review books because I didn't know if they would be too similar to each other for them both to be useful, but that was not the case. Each book explores the different qualities of the test it addresses.

Overall: this book has great tips and study techniques, and is useful whether your test is two months or two days away. I will update and post my score when it is released on July 6th :)

I use this with my students, and it has been effective in breaking down techniques for surviving the exam. It uses a language and perspective they can appreciate.

It's a great book but I bought it hoping it was different than last year's book; it is literally identical. For many people that might be fine but I use it as a reference in my classroom and I already have the previous year's (identical) book. I think it's dishonest to slap a new year on the fake edition. They should keep it the same until it's revised.
