Présentation de l'éditeur

From Kindle number one bestselling author, Kerry Wilkinson, Crossing the Line is a darkly gripping novel where Jessica Daniel faces her toughest investigation yet.

Long before Jessica Daniel became a police detective, Manchester was a ghost city after dark. Fear ruled as people were afraid to be out by themselves, the notorious Stretford Slasher terrorizing its inhabitants.

Now, twenty-five years on and the media are feeling nostalgic. But Jessica has a new case to worry about. Apparent strangers are being targeted in broad daylight, the attacker unworried about being caught. If only Jessica and her team could track him down . . .

It's the coldest spring in memory and Jessica has old friends to look out for, plus secrets - so many secrets - that should have long been buried.

Je n'ai pas fini le livre. Il est décousu et sans intérêt. Grosse déception.Je ne saurais pas quoi écrire d'autre sur cette histoire bizarre.

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book. And as with all of Kerry's other books, I was really looking forward to reading it. As usual I was not disappointed.
Some series I find when they start getting 7/8 books in, you can start to get a little fed up of them, or going off certain characters. Not with these books, I have enjoyed each and everyone of them.

Kerry has written this the 8th book as book one of Series two, so If you have not read any of the previous books you could pick up from this point and start from here. (personally i would read them all from book one first).
I just love Jessica, there is something about her that is real, and her character is believable, with all she has been through over the years you just can't help liking and admiring her.
In this book Jessica is back to work after being off following a case that messed with her life slightly (I don't want to give to much away). And following her last case she has now been promoted to Detective Inspector. We follow a few very good story lines in this book, and one of them is based around the Stretford Slasher, a name that i couldn't help giggling at when I first read it. But is really nothing to laugh at,
As usual with Kerry this book keeps you on the edge all the way through, and has some fantastic twists in it. All in all *A Bloody good read*

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Normal Service is Resumed 8 janvier 2016

This is the 8th book in this series although I believe it also marks the start of season two (book series have seasons... who knew!) so for those who haven't read the others, I guess it could be a good place to start although, as I always say, to get the best from characters and series it is best to start from the beginning and read in order as there is usually backstory and character development to be found.
So, after the interesting season finale (!?!?) which was book 7, normal service is resumed and we are back in the Police Station. Jessica is promoted to DI and if anyone has any thoughts or worries regarding whether she has to grow up to fit her new position then let me assure you, the banter and irreverence that is so great in this series is still there... in spades.
The case Jessica finds herself in the middle of is interesting as it refer back to an old case which is supposedly closed. When seemingly random people get attacked in bizarre ways, Jessica is on a race against time to work out if these are connected, if so, how and why? Ably assisted by Izzy and Dave (when he deigns to return from holiday) it is lovely to return to their banter and bickering, fights and relationships as together they start to find and patch the pieces of the puzzle.
Characters as always are well drawn and have their own identity. Pacing is good throughout as always, there is also a good balance between description and narrative. The ending when it came was a little bit shocking but totally credible in the way explained. I am not sure we have heard the last about certain elements of this story.
And, with that thought in mind. I am going to read the next in the series. Hopefully I'll have it done soon as I believe there is a new one out in Early Feb.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Jessica is back on top-form! 11 septembre 2014

Jessica Daniel is back on top-form in Series 2, book 1. Fans of the previous seven books will delight in another fast-paced novel; and new readers will be able to pick up the series here. Recently promoted to Detective Inspector, and able to move forward following painful issues in her private life, the tension builds from the very first page. The Home Secretary is in Manchester giving a speech in Piccadilly Gardens. The Police are keeping an eye on the event, when suddenly someone in the crowd throws acid at a local councillor in the audience. There follows a series of seemingly random attacks on men, carried out by a masked, hoody-wearing assailant. Jessica investigates and her perseverance begins to discover links between the victims. There is also another case in the book, following the 25th anniversary of the incarceration of the Stretford Slasher, the convicted man dies in prison; and now, people are starting to question his conviction for the horrific crimes. There follows an unexpected development in this old case, and this ups the tension further. At the end, you think everything has been resolved, then there's a chilling twist. You think it's now finally ended, then it comes back to twist again. A fantastic, edge of seat, ending which made the book a fantastic read for me!
