Présentation de l'éditeur

*The Amazon Number One Bestseller in Dark Fantasy,  Gothic Romance and Vampire Romance *

All three books in the DARK GUARDIANS FANTASY SERIES are now available.

Book I: Cruxim (You are Never Alone)
Book II: Creche (Know Thyself)
Creed III: Creed (All Things Know Where they Belong)

Amedeo is Cruxim, an enigmatic, immortal fallen angel who knows little about his dark past apart from a curious prophecy and an unremitting lust for blood. Destined to seek redemption as a vampire hunter, he nourishes his insatiable blood lust on the undead. But when the object of his erotic passion, the novice nun Joslyn, is turned into a vampire and enters a coven, Amedeo's worlds collide. Shattered by the loss of his beloved, the dark hunter vows to wage an epic battle to rid the world of nosferatu once and for all, even if it destroys his vampire romance with Josyln, and even Joslyn herself.

Joining dark angel Amedeo on his mission to decimate the undead is Sabine. As passionate, headstrong, romantic and immortal as she is, she is also half-woman, half-lioness. As a Sphinx—a winged guardian once believed to be a myth—she has protected mortals from vampires since sin saw mortals evicted from the Garden of Eden. Yet Sabine comes to the battle pursued by her own enemies. Archaeologist Dr. Claus Gandler has learned the secret of Sabine's past and has vowed to torment her for eternity or find a way to destroy this dark huntress forever.

Captured and tortured by the evil doctor, Amedeo and Sabine are paraded as sideshow freaks in Gandler's Circus of Curiosities, a travelling freak show. Only vampire Joslyn has the power to intercede. Will she prove this dark angel's redemption, or his destruction?

Set in 18th Century Europe, this epic saga of forbidden love plays out amid a mighty battle of good against evil, fallen angel against nosferatu devil, and reason against madness in an adventure fantasy series a critic from Literary R&R described as "like the next Anne Rice series. There's a love story alongside some pretty gruesome and evil stuff " and others have called "compelling ... dark, visceral and not for the squeamish.”

HASH(0x92323e04) étoiles sur 5 Introducing a new phenomenon to vampire lore... 8 janvier 2013

I loved Karin Cox's short story collection, The Gage. Therefore, I was eager to read her debut fantasy novel, Cruxim. Wow! I read it in two settings. I'm a fan. Karin, what took you so long to write a novel? I can't wait for the next in the series.

Introducing a new phenomenon to vampire lore... Just when you thought there was nothing fresh and innovative in the ancient vampire world, along comes Cruxim. Not a man, not an angel or a devil. A guardian. A breed so rare, few humans know of his existence. Yet the most hellish of vampires fear him, for his purpose in his immortal life is to destroy the undead. All of them.

From the opening page, Cruxim took me on a journey into a dark world of bloodsuckers, a legendary Sphinx, and a menagerie of human circus oddities (among them the wolfman and two-headed man), owned and controlled by the wicked butcher, Dr. Claus Gandler (a scientist more savage than any during the holocaust).

I fell in love with the Cruxim. Amedeo is like no other paranormal hero. He's not infallible. He bleeds, he grieves, he suffers in affairs of the heart and personal conscience. He must make choices that no man, or angel, should ever have to make.

The author takes us on a hair-raising ride from beginning to end. Her characters are bigger than life, yet true to form. I cheered on Amedeo and the she-cat Sabine as they faced insurmountable odds to rid the world of vermin and to save each other. A rousing debut. Highly recommended.

Although not a genre I would have normally chosen to read, gothic paranormal romance, I accepted a copy of this to try for a reading challenge. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The title character, Amedeo, is very well fleshed out by Karin Cox. The writing was clear and enjoyable and I look forward to the sequel when it comes out.

This is a very interesting take on a vampires. Instead of them being all lovey and sparkly they are what you would expect, blood thristy. To make it even more interesting there is a creature that hunts the hunters, the cruxim. This is something I haven't really come across very often so I was pretty excited about starting this book. The beginning is interesting, we have Amedeo trapped as a prisoner and have some flashbacks to get the gist of what happened to him and the back story to characters that are going to be showing up later in the book. I liked the way this was done, it kept me interested in Amedeo's story and wondering if he was going to be able to escape his prison.

What I didn't like was the time shifts, it was hard to keep track of what was going on and when or where. It was hard to keep on track with the story when Amedeo would be in one spot then suddenly another and you really wouldn't know how he got there or how long it took for him to get to that point.

I also didn't really like how he comes across as an almighty vampire hunter but is to emotionally involved that he just keeps getting his butt handed to him when ever he comes across one. After a while Amedeo just came across as a wuss to me that couldn't even really do what he is made to do in the end. This was frustrating for me, and a lot of what he was going through mentally is told to us over and over again.

The love triangle that is in the book doesn't really feel like it should be one, mainly because we hear more about his time with Joslyn and how much he cares for her more then Sabine. But at the same time he does seem to care about Sabine quite a lot too. Personally this took away from the book for me because I don't really like love triangles at all. They always just make me mad in the end, and this one didn't really disappoint me in that aspect.

I really enjoyed Sabine. . .her character was pretty amazing. A sphinx is something I have never come across before in a book at all and I liked how she was protrayed.

Would I recommend this book? Though this book frustrated me a little I would recommend it mainly because of the different creatures in it.

**Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review.**

I read Cruxim a few months ago and the characters have haunted me ever since. There is something really visual about the writing, when I am think about the book, it feels more like a movie that I have seen rather than a book. I am looking forward to reading the next book. 5 stars!

Author Karin Cox takes the vampire genre to a whole new level in this compelling paranormal adventure. This book is dark, visceral and not for the squeamish. The concept of angels hunting vampires is brilliant - a fresh and most welcome twist. In this story you meet Amadeo, an angel whose sole purpose in life is to destroy vampires. He loves two women he cannot have, who are taken from him by some of the most vile and evil villains I have ever encountered in a fictional novel. Highly recommended.
