1.0 étoiles sur 5 1 star for sure.... Ratings here don't make sense. 13 mars 2015

Im not that picky of a person however the reviews on this pot don't add up. I will admit fit and finish on this unit are top notch, function is where this pot falls off the cliff. I was used to making pasta in our 5 qt saucepan, held a pack of pasta just fine, my wife just wanted the insert, after months of buying and returning pasta inserts for my 5 qt and 8 qt tramontina pots because they didn't fit, I decided to try this on a lightning deal.

Out of the box it looks great, side walls look like you can put a good amount of pasta in it.... That is until you start to use it and you realize there is too much wasted space between bottom of insert and bottom of pot 2", and only 4" from bottom of insert to the top of the pot... So if you put a decent amount of water in there to say... Cook 1 lb of pasta water will be spilling outside the unit just to try and cover the pasta. Please note I actually measured this the 4" is to the actual top of the pot so if you were to have a rolling boil going you would have to drop your water level down 1" to try and not get it to boil out the sides. This essentially gives you 3 inches of useable depth inside the pot for cooking pasta, 1/2 of the pots actual depth. Turns a 6 qt to a 3 qt.

Also I'll add a couple photos to try to show the discoloration in the metal after just 2-3 uses.

It's really not worth it, I don't write reviews but this one made me frustrated enough to write about it.

This is the perfect size for our needs. The pasta insert works great, just have to be careful not to fill too high with water--when it boils it overflows if you do. It's a very pretty pot, too.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 not a large pot but perfect for 1 or 2 people (for pasta or soups) 31 décembre 2014

not a large pot, but a really nice size for 1 or 2 people. works great with my induction cook-top. mirror finish looks to be high quality (hope its not hard to maintain). the rounded bottom corners are a nice touch. handles are nice and easy to use with good riveting to keep them secure. wish the top lid was glass but that's the only negative thing I can think of on this item.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 With proper care, it should last a lifetime 31 décembre 2014
Par J. Chambers - Publié sur Amazon.com
Based on my fifty years or so of buying and using cookware - some good, some not so good - I'm extremely impressed with the Culina cookware that I've seen. The layering of stainless steel and aluminum gives a great combination of even heat distribution and strength. If cared for properly, the pasta pot should last a lifetime. The pot can be used as a conventional pot for cooking pasta, or remove the strainer insert and use the 5-quart pot for soups, stews, or any other liquid-based cooking. For cooking pasta or other foods like vegetables and fruits, with the strainer insert, you won't need a separate colander.

The cookware looks great with its mirror finish on the outside. You're probably not interested in this, but from my metallurgy courses in engineering school, I remember that the 18/10 stainless steel in Culina cookware has a composition of 18% chromium and 10% nickel. This is high grade steel that's often used in finer cutlery and high-quality cookware. The 430 stainless steel cladding on the bottom of the pot is also known as X6Cr17 steel, which has excellent thermal properties that make a superior heat conductor. Curiously - and you can try this with a magnet - the 18/10 steel's crystalline structure makes this steel virtually non-magnetic, while the 430 stainless steel cladding on the bottom of the pot is slightly magnetic. Because the steel is such a good heat conductor, the pot heats up very quickly.

The pot, strainer insert, and lid together weigh just a bit less than 6 pounds. It's no lightweight, but the heavy-gauge metal composition gives it the strength and durability to give many years of good service.

The Culina pasta pot was provided to me for evaluation. I did not promise to post a review, but I stated that if I did review the product, it would be an honest, unbiased review.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A wonderful luxury item to have for your next pasta cook 9 janvier 2015
Par Rob Slaven Photography - Publié sur Amazon.com
I received this product free for review but as always, despite receiving a free product I'm perfectly candid in my review. My observations follow below in more or less chronological order.

* Truly beautiful construction. The picture doesn't quite do it justice. Also very solid and long-lasting.

* The bottom section has measuring marks in it so you can tell when you've added 2 quarts of water

* Thick bottom to the bottom section; good heat distribution.

* Probably not a KEY kitchen item but more of a luxury. You can cook and strain in the same unit and save yourself the colandar.

PS: I hope my review was helpful. If it was not, then please let me know what I left out that you’d want to know. I always aim to improve.
