Présentation de l'éditeur

A haunted house in Key West

Hannah O'Brien, who grew up in the house and now runs it as a B and B, has always had a special ability to see a pair of resident ghosts. But when a man is murdered in the alley behind her place, she's dismayed when his spirit appears, too, asking for help.

FBI agent Dallas Samson has a passionate interest in the murder, since the victim's a colleague whose death is connected to the smuggling ring known as Los Lobos—the wolves. Now Dallas is even more committed to chasing them down….

Unaware that Dallas has certain abilities of his own, Hannah calls her cousin Kelsey O'Brien, a member of the FBI's Krewe of Hunters, an elite unit of paranormal investigators. The present-day case is linked to a historical mystery involving salvagers, a curse and a sunken ship. Danger and desire bring Hannah and Dallas together, but to survive, they have to solve the mysteries of the past—and stay alive long enough to solve the crimes of the present!

I love Heather Graham but this is one of my least favorite in this series. I didn't think the two main characters had any spark and I thought the side story with the gang members was really cheesy. I like Graham's books because you always know three things: the two main characters are going to sleep together halfway through the book, at least one of the people you've been introduced to is somehow involved in the mystery and the characters usually have combustible chemistry. Only one of those three things (the sex) happened in this book. I was just bored. I'm not going to give up on Graham. This is not a book I'll be reading again, though.

Hannah O’Brien grew up in this fabulous house in Key West, FL. When her uncle suddenly passed away he left it to Hannah who turned it into a bed and breakfast…Siren of the Sea. It came complete with its own resident ghosts, Melody Chandler and her lover Hagen Dundee. Not only did Hannah run the B&B but also was the local historian and did nightly tours of the ghosts of Key West. The night begins as usual, nothing special with the tour and as usual at the end of the tour Hannah leaves her group at the local haunted Hard Rock Café where they end with drinks and a meal before returning back to the B&B. When Shelly and Stuart return to the B&B Shelly can’t sleep, so they go to the pool to unwind. Suddenly there is a man standing over her with his throat cut and a knife in his hand.....Is this person real or a ghost.

This book opens with a couple pages of history of the house and area and then bam…it takes off running with suspense and intrigue. I was completely hooked from page one. The twists and turns of this book will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. It is not your typical paranormal book. Each ghost plays a vital role in helping to solve the mystery. I have never been a fan of the paranormal, but I have loved these books by MS. Graham. I think in part because the characters and the plot are so believable. In MS. Graham’s previous book we met the FBI’s Krewe of Hunters, who specialize in solving mysteries of the paranormal, so when they arrived on the scene in this book it was a pleasant surprise. This is a stand-alone book so you do not have to read any of the previous works. This book is a must read for those of us who like a little romance and a lot of suspense, mystery and intrigue.

Disclosure: I was given a copy of this eBook by the publisher, Harlequin, through NetGalley blogger program for review. I was not required to write a favorable review nor was I compensated for my review. The opinions in this review are my own.

You know, I wanted to love this book. Yeah, we all say that as reviewers from time to time, but this time I really mean it. I have read quite a few Heather Graham titles, some that I loved, some that I didn't love quite as much. For this novel, after reading the blurb, I really thought this might be one of those that just captivated me from the beginning, but sadly, that was not the case.

I did like that this main character starts out able to see the ghosts. Getting the accepted paranormal stuff out of the way right in the beginning set the course for an interesting story where the characters don't waste the first hundred or so pages asking one another if they saw or heard that too. (Sorry ghost hunting shows so popular on the telly.) I liked that the action started right away, but after a bit the book just seemed to drop into a silly mixture of knowing what was going to happen and then being disappointed when it did.

The ending felt like it came out of the blue nowhere, and I wondered if this was a case of...I can't figure out where to go with this so I might as well end it here, from the author.

Overall, this wasn't terrible, but if you have never read this author before, I wouldn't recommend that you begin here.

This review is based on a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I forget how enjoyable Heather Graham can be until I pick up one of her Krewe of Hunters books. This one did not disappoint.
Hannah owns and operates a B&B in Key West, FL. She also conducts "Ghost Tours" of the island because she happens to be closely acquainted with several spirits who have not passed on from this earth but aren't quite alive, either. And so, in this installment we come to know the former Melody Chandler and her paramour Hagen Dundee. Melody and Hagen are star-crossed lovers who have died but not yet departed and choose to reside in Hannah's B&B, which is Melody's former home.
When an undercover cop, Jose Rodriguez, is murdered in the back alley of the B&B, scaring Hannah's guests past their ability to cope, we are introduced to Agent Dallas Samson, FBI. An Agent who is immediately suspicious of the proximity of his friends death and the B&B and the fact that Hannah had literally stumbled over the body.
If I continue, I'll spoil the story and you won't read the book. Please give yourself a treat and do so. I don't think you will be disappointed. Certainly you won't be bored.

HASH(0x8d2138b8) étoiles sur 5 BORING 26 juillet 2014

I was hoping for a romantic suspense story but this was neither romantic nor suspenseful. I guessed the watcher character early in the story. By the time I was almost to the middle of the booK I skipped to the end. Two young good persons were murdered near the beginning of the story. I particularly did not think the murder of the young woman served any purpose. These plus one more were just unhappy ghosts. I thought the two main ghosts were boring. No clue was given why these two were hanging on to their ghostly lives instead of moving on. The hero and heroine were likeable and well developed characters but they could not save a boring slow moving story. There was very little action. None of the characters were excited about the treasure except to stop the bad guy. The bad guy was a minor character until the end. My definition of a good mystery is one that provides clues as to whom the culprit is or information about what he is thinking. This was provided for the watcher but not for the head of the crime syndicate. A superb mystery is one that provides clues throughout the story and has the reader suspecting various characters until the end. In summary there was little action, romance, mystery or suspense to this story and the ghosts just not that interesting. The were however many likeable characters.
