Biographie de l'auteur

John P. Hennessy began his quest for the ultimate garden some years ago. It all came about due to some physical limitations which prevented him from working a conventional soil garden. He wanted the rewards and joy of gardening without all the back breaking work. He wanted a system that anyone could use to grow lush healthy produce regardless of age, skill, space, or physical limitations. His initial goal was to develop a small system capable of supplying enough fresh produce to sustain a family of four year round. In his pursuit John spent thousands of dollars and untold hours buying, building, planting, testing and re-testing every kind of plant in multiple types of systems. He knew the ultimate gardening system would have to be affordable, compact, expandable, fully automated, modular, efficient, and one that preformed well for all type plants. Hydroponics seemed to be the answer! He read every Hydroponic books and articles he could get his hands on. Devoured case studies done by universities and research companies, studying various systems, comparing their different strengths and weaknesses. John flew to Florida to see the research being done at “The Land” Epcot Center for Hydroponic Research. He interviewed commercial growers, distributors, hydroponic experts and innovators from all over the country. After about a year of study and research he bought some systems from the big hydroponic retailers. He also began to build and test many of His own systems. He experimented with drip, ebb flow, aeroponic, NFT, and wick systems. John grew everything from 6’ high stacks of strawberries to 8’ high corn stalks in five gallon buckets. Some of the systems were a success and some were total failures. Three years later he found that most all of the systems were lacking in what he felt was the basic criteria for the ultimate system. Many times John thought of give up the whole idea, he experienced much frustration as he found himself spending more and more time, energy and money. However, he continued building, testing and growing. He had become obsessed with hydroponic gardening! “Diy Hydroponics Systems Builders Guide” provides the reader with the knowledge, experience and short cuts John gained in His search for the ultimate garden. The guide is a great tool that will save you headaches, time, money and will allow you to do more of what you really love. Growing, harvesting and enjoying the abundant bounty!

HASH(0x9101a21c) étoiles sur 5 DIY Hydroponics - System Builders Guide 18 octobre 2012
Par R. Hayden - Publié sur
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
The instructions for DIY hydroponics is very easy to read and understand. The components are available at your local hardware store like Lowes or Home Depot. My system is set up and producing beautiful new veggies right on my deck in the back yard. The next step is to set up a green house and expand the system from a small Ebb & Flow system to a larger NFT system using Rain Gutters as the flow channel. The book expains each step and is easy to read and follow the instructions.

This book appears to have been printed off a website and bound in the book available for sale. Most graphics are grainy and blurry with large watermark 'DIY' over everything. Everything. Even a picture of some PVC pipe. I learned very little about how the system works or the principles, if indeed any, behind the designs. I would have expected a far superior product, easily enhanced and backed up with graphics if taken with a camera available on a mobile phone - all considering this is the 3rd addition (sic) of the book.

It is very informational I must say, but I was thrown off by how unprofessional it looks. I feel as if I'm opening up a word document my friend emailed to me. Photos aren't sized, some are too small to see, and others are blown up too large, making them blurry. There are whole pages with just a small picture on it's own! There are grammar errors with letters missing in certain words too. I'm really hoping it's just some error with my computer because selling something of this standard is quite appalling. Keep in mind, the title of this review is "LOOKS very unprofessional." The content however is helpful and thorough. Kudos to the author, but I shake my head to the editor ...if there even was one.

This item is little more than a pamphlet on how to make a single type of hydroponics system. Gives little information on hydroponic systems and was a almost no help at all.

HASH(0x9101a780) étoiles sur 5 An okay introduction at best 22 janvier 2013

I was very excited about this book. But you cant call it a book, its barely 60 pages. Just like another review said, its a PDF document that has been printed out, bount together, and being sold as a book. Its a BOOKLET! This is worth no more than $5 at the most. Another thing that is bad is that it also heavily promotes its website for more information, parts and more BOOKLETS! The DIY systems that are in this booklet are very simple, maybe able to grow lettuce and grasses. No more than that. I had way more knowledge about hydroponics from one visit to my local hydroponic store than after reading this whole thing.

Please, dont buy it. Or any other books related to this author or website. Its a rip off for what you get. This is like a book for kids, at best really. I am very disappointed about what I got for what I paid for. For what it has, it should be free. Really. DO. NOT. BUY!

I recommend searching the internet for free system builds. You will get more info there than here.
