This book has a different spin than other “diet books” that I have read. This one is based almost entirely on decreasing sodium through healthier choices. The reasoning behind that comes from the origin of this diet. It was created as a way to lower blood pressure in subjects that suffered from that particular condition. As a bigger guy, I found that to be a positive aspect of this eating plan. Another attractive feature is the “phasing out” of bad foods over time, the gradual implementation of the new diet, and the avoidance of putting your body through third degree shock. Most diets draw a line in the sand and say that once you start, on that date, you can longer eat the bad foods at all anymore. I’m not sure that going “cold-turkey” on any bad habit has a high success rate. This is an attractive feature for people who are stuck in their old habits, and want to make a positive change. This diet focuses on raising your vegetable intake, while lowering your fruit consumption, due to the large amounts of biological sugars that are in fruit.
Unlike some of the other diets that have become the rage recently, this one doesn’t ask you to give up wheat and whole grains. Consume them in moderation for sure, but it doesn’t require giving them up. The recipes are actually quite good. (I recommend the breakfast casserole as your first meal attempt.) The book came with several bonus chapters with exercises and more healthy living tips. All in all, it was well worth the time spent reading it, and it gave me some good ideas to incorporate into my own weight loss regiment.

The DASH DIET can I say FINALLY!!! This is the first diet ever that not only works like it says it will it truly controls your hunger through out the day and late evening. The other thing I love about this diet is if you accidentally cheat a little and I don't mean fall off three or four days in a roll but say you have been on the diet a week or so and you go out to eat and just eat a meal that is not completely on the diet you will not step on the scale in the morning and scream because you gained all or almost all of your weight back,you just won't loose any that day or you gain like .2or .4 of a pound. You will also find that your blood sugar will stabilize and your blood pressure will go down. This diet is not a diet it is an easy life style change

Great book. Well written, easy to read, and follow. I wasn't familiar with the Dash Diet and I'm surprised at how easy and practical it is. Loved the book because of the wonderful recipes with pictures! Pictures always help with recipes, I think. Recommend!

This book is very short. There are a few recipes thrown in and some basic exercises. This is the kind of thing you can get off the net for free. I was expecting a real book. I suspect all the positive reviews were made by the author or friend of the author or might even be describing a different book. Don't be fooled.
