Présentation de l'éditeur

From USA TODAY bestselling author Alexa Grace, Deadly Offerings is a novel with pulsing passion and razor-sharp suspense. It is the first adventure in this sizzling suspense series.

Anne Mason thinks she'll be safe living in the Midwest building a wind farm. She may be dead wrong. Someone is dumping bodies in her corn field and telling Anne they are gifts--for her!

As the body count rises, Anne realizes a cold-blooded serial killer is patiently waiting and watching her every move. And he won't stop until he ends her life. It is clear there are no limits to this killer's thirst for revenge or how far he will go to get it.

After a nasty divorce, Anne Mason does not want to get romantically involved, especially with ex-husband's attorney, Michael Brandt. The ruggedly handsome new County Prosecutor is the last person Anne can trust, but may offer her only chance at survival from a psychopathic killer. But will she survive the passion that rages between them?

With thousands of five-star reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, it's time for you to discover the Deadly Series books. Four novels with non-stop suspense and a healthy dose of toe-curling passion that will have you holding your breath from the first page to the last.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 adding to the 1 star reviews (some spoilers) 17 mai 2015

I won't repeat what the other 1 star reviewers say because I agree. I'll add this, however: the use of "tense" is beyond terrible. In the middle of descriptive paragraphs, characters suddenly start thinking in present tense. Example: "With the addition of the note to the investigation, she was now more than a witness who found the body. She played an integral role in the investigation. Any information flow from this point forward had to be one-way, and from her. S***. Talk about a complication. A prosecutor can't have a relationship with someone this close to a case. ..." "CAN'T" is terribly wrong. This type of thing is done numerous times throughout the book.

There are so many inconsistencies and unbelievable behaviors. How is it that Anne and Michael end up living so close to each other when they reach move 2 hours away? The whole thing with the ex-husband doesn't even fit the novel. No one ever discovers the bug on Anne's computer - and didn't she have a computer business? The wind farm - doesn't seem to fit the story. Lots of bits and pieces. Nothing flows.

Don't pay for this book. I'm glad it was free. Won't waste my time being irritated with the next book.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 I really wanted to like this book 3 septembre 2014

I really wanted to like this book, I just didn't. The storyline was okay, but the romance made no sense. First, it was one of those he falls in love at first sight and even though she really doesn't treat him very well it doesn't matter. He's over the top protective instantly, and if a guy showed up that many times in just the right time/place I would start to think he was a stalker. But the thing that drove me absolutely crazy was that she took independent to a whole new level. I'm all for independent women, I think you should be able to stand on your own two feet. However, when you know you are a target for a killer and you have no alarm system, flimsy locks on your house and you are alone you might want to accept some help. I'm glad this book was free.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Worst book I've ever read 8 août 2013

This book reads like a rough draft, and not a good one at that. From the moment the hero sees the heroine, he is following her around. When she has just had a gun to her head and been in a car accident, he drives her home, invites himself in, and when he leaves he kisses her good-bye, though she is bruised, dazed and confused (and doesn't know him!). From that time on, he constantly shows up at her home and everywhere she goes. He's overly attentive, making arrangements for her (even when not asked, or told not to), and making moves when she is at her most vulnerable. The author tells us he's good-looking, but he acts like a creepy stalker -- no boundaries whatsoever. The heroine is a chronic helpless damsel in distress, leaving us nothing to root for. One second after she tells the hero she can take care of herself, she twists her ankle, falls, and can't walk. He picks her up and carries her to the hospital, where he tells them she's his wife. If that's not enough, there's the disjointed plot and lack of editing, with such sentences as "Now you can watch me kill your boyfriend die before I take your worthless life." And there's another blooper in the very next paragraph.

If I could give this zero stars, I would.

Not bad. The author has a very interesting writing style, where she shifts POV and time quickly without transition. It was really jarring and confusing at first. Once I got used to it, though I kinda liked it. I think it really helped with the pace. I enjoyed the story; however, it was just too unrealistic. There were too many things that just don't add up. I'm a huge fan of legal and cop procedural dramas so I've learned a lot over the years. This read like a school kids first attempt at writing both romance and murder.

There is possibility and promise here but there is a long road until it really passes muster.

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Not what I expected 12 septembre 2012
Par Anna - Publié sur
Format: Format Kindle Achat vérifié
I downloaded this book because it was free and because of really great reviews. However, it did not meet my expectations at all and I wonder if the people who gave it 5 stars actually read the book?
First of all, I was very irritated by the way the book was written. Meanwhile, it had somewhat of an interesting plot (that's why I'm giving it 2 stars), the writing made the book dull and annoying. I found myself revising all of the sentences as I was reading. For example, the author repeated some words and phrases soo many times that it made the story sound as if it was written by a high school student. I caught the author starting all her sentences with "SHE" like 7 times in a row. The love scenes were boring and lacked passion. Anne seemed to have problems with her vision. How is it possible to not recognize someone after he saves you in the parking lot? Michael seemed to come to the rescue whenever Anne was in trouble, and this NEVER happens in real life. So, little details like these made the book dull and unrealistic for me.... Even though I am interested in Lane and Frankie's story in the 2nd book, I won't be reading it because of the horrible writing.
