5.0 étoiles sur 5 The Best 4K Monitor in this Price Range -- Plug and Play with 2015 Macbook Series Computers -- Retina Quality Display 1 mai 2015
Par Andrew Galli - Publié sur Amazon.com
Achat vérifié
Image Quality: 10/10
Ease of Set Up: 10/10
Value for Money: 10/10

I recently purchased a 2015 Macbook Pro 13 w/ Retina Display and was so overwhelmed by the color and text quality that I decided I needed to upgrade my desktop monitor as well. I wanted something that was plug-and-play using a display-port cable, and ultimately I chose this monitor for these reasons:

1 - the 24" has the highest pixel density for the resolution -- if you go up to 27 or 28" you will get excellent resolution but not as crisp text
2 - the color testing by Dell provides 99% accuracy -- my side by side photos enclosed show the color accuracy
3 - I wanted expansion capabilities in the back of the monitor -- the 4 x USB SuperSpeed (3.0) ports come in handy on my desktop
4 - the base is extremely stable -- no wobble
5 - the monitor does not crash/fail to wake up when the laptop goes to sleep -- *Note* -- I find that if it is slow to wake up after being asleep for a long time simply pressing the menu button above the power button on the face of the display wakes up the monitor immediately
6 - the colors are the SAME as my Macbook side by side, and the text is the same degree of sharpness side by side as well
7 - I am able to use the Dell supplied display-port cable out of the box and plug it into my Thunderbolt port and it auto detects every time. *Note* -- do not use a Thunderbolt cable to your Mac -- it will not detect the monitor. Use the cable supplied by Dell.
8 - The display-port cable provides audio output support, so you can plug your desktop speakers into the Dell Monitor rather than your Macbook and it works perfectly fine. *Note* -- the display-port audio out port disables the audio control on your MAC so you need to use speakers with volume control built in or plug your audio system into your Mac to retain the volume control functionality.
9 - Antiglare is easier on the eyes -- this monitor does not come with the glossy image you see in the Macbook Retina Display which I thought would bother me, but side by side, it is actually EASIER to work in Photoshop without the glossy image than with it.

I don't know how else to describe it except to say once you buy this monitor you will throw your Apple Cinema Display in the garbage. Plug and play out of the box with my Macbook Pro 13, no support issues, no video card issues,

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great Monitor For a Photographer/Casual Gamer! 19 mars 2015
Par Jim - Publié sur Amazon.com

I am running this on my older i7-970/X58 platform computer with newer GTX 970 video card. I run this along side my ASUS PB278Q with NO issues. 60Hz was plug and play with no tinkering (Display port). No dead pixels, no back light bleeding or weird color shifts on the panel. I have also calibrated this with my Spyder 4 Elite. Both my ASUS PB278Q and new Dell P2715Q match PERFECTLY now :) Couldn't be happier!

About 2 years ago when I got my first 27 inch 1440p monitor, I went for the Dell U2713HM. I had to RMA THREE Dell U2713HM before going with the ASUS PB278Q. Happy with my ASUS PB278Q! I was a little scared about getting another Dell, but this P2715Q was a winner the first time around!

I run both monitors at 125% text scaling on Windows 8.1.

UPDATE: as of 6/24/15, I am still having a very good experience with this monitor!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 This Is The Monitor That You're Looking For 10 février 2015
Par George D. Isaac - Publié sur Amazon.com
Pros: The monitor is beautiful. Simply put, this thing is 27" of 4K happiness.

First things first: I've owned a variety of monitors over the years. NEC, Dell, Samsung, LG, and so on. I've always been very hard on my monitors. They get use at least 8 hours a day and I'm particularly picky about color reproduction. In my experience, the Dell Ultrasharp monitors have always been very high quality. This will be my third, and I'm very glad it is.

The basics: 27", a bunch of input/output options, an adjustable stand, and a slab of viewable area.

Design: The casing is black and silver and very understated, which I like. Dell has foregone the touch buttons on the face for physical buttons (which I wholeheartedly agree with). The buttons are typical monitor buttons, nothing special. The stand allows you to lift the monitor fairly high and rotate it fully without any interference. The stand is pretty fantastic, despite my thought when I first got it that it wouldn't sufficiently hold the monitor. I can assure you, it does. The stand also has a cutout for wires to loop through and keep it nice and tidy.

The peripheral stuff works really well. One USB in from the computer gives you 4 outputs. One is on the vertical back face of the monitor and the other three are tucked under the back of the monitor on a cutout. I got the sound bar that attaches to this computer (511) and I highly recommend it, so figure on that taking one of the slots from you. Transfer rate is good but not stellar, as is to be expected from any hub. It has a sound-out slot that works well, nothing special about it.

Video connections: The important bit. Has a DisplayPort and HDMI in. When you're trying to get full 4K at 60Hz, please use the DisplayPort. I toyed with this stuff for hours. It was frustrating. You will see this in the "Cons" section.

The Panel itself: The panel is very, very nice. Color reproduction is good. The profile that it comes with from the factory was okay, but left some room to be desired. A little bit of time with an i1 made it much better, though it would barely be noticeable to the trained eye. The IPS panel is as perfect as you can expect. Even backlight, perfect viewing angles, and generally a very nice viewing experience.

Price: Are you kidding me? 4K at this price with this much quality? I'm seriously considering purchasing a second one.

Cons: The controls: You want 4K to display at 60Hz? Don't listen to anything anyone tells you online. I was seriously hamstrung for hours trying to get this thing to display 4K off of my 2014 MBPr 15". I tried every combination of connections, connected a Thunderbolt to each port, tried HDMI, everything. Turns out that the setting that controls the 4K through DisplayPort that the manual told me to turn on? Yeah that was wrong. As soon as I turned off MST, the whole thing worked perfectly. Otherwise, the menus are fairly easy to navigate. Everything is bright on the screen, so you will be able to see it. I have a minor gripe about the way the buttons function, but once you get the hang of it, it really isn't a big deal at all.

Customer Service: Dell customer service is .... less than desirable. I purchased this thing through their business division and that was ok. They wouldn't let me apply discounts that I should have been able to, but compensated for it in other ways. However, once I ran into the whole 30Hz/60Hz snafoo, then I really started to hate Dell. The department I needed to talk to was closed on a Monday ALL DAY, and not a holiday either. Then when I did talk to someone the next day, it took a long wait and difficulty understanding the tech (VERY thick accent) before I stumbled over the answer and figured it out on my own.

Other Thoughts: If you're thinking about this monitor and you have the cash, stop looking at other ones. Buy this. You and your eyes will be incredibly happy that you do.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 ... bought this from Dell after seeming to get a pretty good negotiated price from a sales rep 7 février 2015
Par T. Fannon - Publié sur Amazon.com
I bought this from Dell after seeming to get a pretty good negotiated price from a sales rep. (Note: it is now cheaper on Amazon than what I got it for). However, I really wanted to be the earliest adopter.

Anyway, the monitor came the next day unexpectedly with overnight shipping. I plugged it into two DP slots of my geforce gtx 980 and it ran immediately.

It is a beautiful monitor, and is well constructed. For those of you comparing it with an Apple 5k iMac, I have some thoughts as I have this. Firstly, Apple does a better job with font scaling, in particular with multiple HiDPI monitors. On Windows 8.1, you have a limited amount of fiddling of what you can do if you have multiple monitors. I had to choose "let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" and used the custom size of 225% to get the fonts to be the size I like. Fortunately, it works, although the fonts on my other two 4k displays are a little large because of this. With an Apple, you have individual control per monitor. As a con, with the iMac, you can only drive one other 4k display with their internal Radeon GPU.

As others have mentioned, with a PC, you have the option to use a very powerful graphics card to drive it, if you like to game. I can run almost any game at 60fps in 4K mode with my Geforce GTX 980 SLI combo. (5k gaming is out of reach for current hardware). So, if games are your thing ( and having 5k is too ), go with a PC.

Here is a note about 5k. In my opinion, most people are not going to be able to discern the difference between 4k and 5k unless they are very particular or have special photography needs. I develop software so I stare at my screens all day long. While the 5k text does look better, I am still pretty happy on a 4k as well, so you may want to consider the Dell 2715q, their 4k 27" IPS display as well.

I can also happily report there are no resume from sleep bugs that plagued the Dell 2414q.

Anyway, I am happy with it. If anyone has any questions, I am happy to answer if I can.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 A great product with terrible flaw. 26 septembre 2015

A great product with terrible flaw.
Well, it is fascinating how great technology and bad quality testing can result in such great and, at the same time, terrible product.
Picture quality is unremarkable. Refresh rate (60HZ) when you have a Display Port and good video card is great. Size is great.
Why I gave it 1 star?
I bought two monitors and both have the same issue -- firmware (or mixture of hardware and software) is faulty. Once in a while (usually on a weekly basis) monitor becomes unresponsive and I have to physically go to the back of the monitor and disconnect/reconnect the power cable.
Also, this unresponsiveness can happen when you connect a new video source, or when computer is going to the sleep mode. Monitor just 'hangs' - nothing can be done and the only solution is to power cycle the unit. It is painful for me because I have to walk around the table and it is hard to get there. Also, the back cover needs to be taken off to access the power connector.
Is it normal? No.
Would I buy this product knowing that I have to do this for many years? No.

I called Dell and they told me that this is totally normal. After hours of screaming/arguing they sent me two replacements. I got them today (sent refurbished units instead). Good news? NO! Same issue!
Then I checked other reviews -- many other users report the same issue- it does not wake up from the sleep!

I would recommend to buy something else (considering the hefty price tag) or wait for another improved model, that has this issue fixed.

Unfortunately I can't return it, it is past 30 days with Amazon.
