5.0 étoiles sur 5 great water filter!! and virtually indestructible. 3 juin 2016

After using brita filters for years I decided to look at a larger water filters.
I chose this mainly because it's doesn't require electricity and the filters last 6 months.
Once filled it will take several hours to filter but there enough water to last a family of 5 the whole day.
We fill it up every night before we go to sleep.

It's a great water filter and virtually indestructible.
This will also work in a worst case / disaster scenario to filter rain and river water

3.0 étoiles sur 5 I prefer the EVA water filter 18 février 2014
Par C. C. Chivers - Publié sur Amazon U.K.
I decided to buy this water filter in addition to the EVA filter that I have in order to reduce costs a little. The EVA requires 3 items that need to be changed, but 2 of them only require changing every 2 years. I have the smaller 7lt version, so another reason I bought the Berkfeld was to have a filter that provided larger quantities of filtered water.

It has twice (and more) the capacity of the EVA filter which I like, however ... the water that comes out of this filter smells a little of the filters themselves, which is unpleasant to drink neat. So I am using the water from this filter for tea and coffee and keeping the EVA for drinking water. I am not too worried about getting nasties out of our tap water at the moment, other than chlorine and basics, but I am sure that people affected by floodwater would definitely appreciate this. I live in hope that the taste may improve after a while.

UPDATE: Having used this filter for a couple of weeks and recently given it a thorough cleaning which included pouring boiling water over the candles and letting it filter through for a short time, the taste of the water if now perfectly fine.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Very good 26 juin 2013

Works well, water tastes better than tap.
Slow to filter (I don't mind but might be an issue for large households)
There's room for improvement - you can't check how full the lower chamber is without lifting the top chamber, a sight gauge like on a kettle would be useful.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Vs Distiller? THIS WINS HANDS DOWN 5 mai 2015
Par G Lindley - Publié sur Amazon U.K.

Wow wow wow!!! We had a distiller for a long time so take water purity seriously. This is just so much better. Mainly the fact that it is gravity fed so you can just top up once or twice a day and forget. Using the distiller was such 'an event' (noisy, cumbersome, expensive electricty usage) This is just a joy by comparison. The water tastes easily as pure/nice and we no longer have to worry about the (possible) negative effects of removing the good nutrients.

Its also nice to have 100% of our drinking and cooking water filtered. With the distiller taking ~5hrs to make 4litres we found it wouldnt make it through the day.

One consideration is where you will keep it. We have it on the edge of worktop as the tap is very low. If you put it on a stand to enable alternative placement, it wont fit under top cupboards
