Présentation de l'éditeur

From New York Times Best-Selling Author K. Bromberg comes an unforgettable series about lust, love, redemption, and healing...

Our paths should never have crossed.

Colton Donavan was arrogant, exuded that bad boy vibe, and embodied everything I never wanted. And yet all it took was one night, one hallway, and one stolen kiss for me to know I hated him and desired him instantly.

My heart was healing. His soul was damaged. But with one bid, one little boy, and one carnival date, I couldn’t walk away and he wouldn’t let me in.

This is our story. Our fight. Our perfectly imperfect love.

Biographie de l'auteur

K. Bromberg was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated from University of California at San Diego with two bachelors—economics and political science—but always loved to write. K. Bromberg remains in Southern California with her husband and their three young children. When not writing or working her day job, she can be found playing ninjas or power rangers with her son, fixing the hair of her oldest daughter’s American girl doll, or doing ‘arts and crapts’ with her youngest daughter, or listening to any or all of them fight/whine/laugh at once. When she needs a break from the daily chaos, you can almost always find her with Kindle in hand, devouring the pages of a good book or mentally outlining her next set of characters. Driven is K. Bromberg’s first published novel and the first book in “The Driven Trilogy.”

HASH(0x89900d98) étoiles sur 5 Amazing start to a series!! 16 mai 2013
Par The Blushing Reader - Publié sur
Format: Format Kindle
I have been reading a lot of books lately and Driven just blew them all away! Talk about a book to end a reading rut! I am still reeling from this book ripping through my emotions and leaving me desperate for more of this story. K. Bromberg's Driven is more than a HOT cover, it is a beautiful story about two people who are trying to go through life without being buried in their own baggage. Colton and Rylee meet and sparks fly with intensity!

"I sag against the wall of the elevator in frustration. He gets me so worked up. So angry. I can't figure out what I want to do more, punch him or f*&^ him."

I love a story filled with angst, lots of heavy emotions and an almost desperate need the characters have for each other. Colton Donovan delivers all this and more. Colton. Damn. He is a hot, sexy race car driver with a dark past and ISSUES. He was adopted by Hollywood celebrities and found himself in racing. He is such a complicated character and just when you think he is going to change or do something expected, he completely surprises you and leaves you gutted and crying or sighing, wishing you were the girl he wants to be his.

Rylee isn't your typical do-gooder, she has a past full of tragedy and has let her guilt define her for far too long. She isn't Colton's "type", she doesn't do casual and she feels deeply. Rylee and Colton meet and it is instant attraction for her but she fights it HARD. She "thinks" she understands the type of man Colton is and she tries to stay away, but temptation is too much for her to resist and she dives in and realizes she is in over her head with this man. I love that Rylee is real, she has real expectations when getting involved with Colton, but sometimes the heart wants what the mind tells us is going to end badly.

" 'This isn't a Hollywood romance movie, Haddie. The good girl doesn't get the bad boy to change his ways and fall madly in love with her.' "

Colton and Rylee and the cast of characters around them make a story that kept me entertained, invested and oblivious to my life outside of Driven. K. Bromberg does an amazing job getting her readers emotions involved with her style of writing. I felt everything along with Rylee; the confusion, lust, heartache and free falling feeling of letting go and letting your heart lead.

"I need this connection with him like I need sunlight. For when we touch like this, when I feel him like this, I have no doubt that I can do this. That I can be what he needs me to be for however long he'll allow it. For the chance to be with him, to remain under his spell, I will push my needs aside and bury them."

Driven is a seriously amazing story. K. Bromberg managed to tell an intense story without rushing it and without dragging it out too long. Unfortunately, this is the FIRST book in a series and I knew that going into this story, but I wasn't prepared for the book to end and wasn't ready to let go of Rylee and Colton. I found myself nervously looking at the percentage done in the story and hoping that it was wrong but like all good things, they must come to an end. What an ending too!! HOLY S*** this ending will shred you and leave you screaming that there is NO WAY an author could do that to her readers.... but she did. K. Bromberg has probably delivered the best cliff hanger ending to a series in a book I have ever read (and I read a LOT of trilogies). I will admit to immediately emailing her and begging her to tell me when the next book will come out like a crazy stalker. (it is August 2013, btw).

This book is a DEFINITE 1-click! This book is so good that I will personally buy it for the first TWO people who leave a comment for this review and promise to spread the word of for this amazing book. (I am trusting you will do this, don't let me down)

Congratulations K. Bromberg, you wrote a book that I can not stop thinking about and wishing August would get here soon! I will be pouting in the corner and trying to find something else to read that can fill the hole that Colton left behind. Sigh.

HASH(0x89900dec) étoiles sur 5 SO painful, demeaning, etc... 6 mai 2014

OK. This was the most emotionally painful book that I think that I have ever read. I can't even believe it. It made me miserable.

So, there is this girl named Rylee that loses her fiancee and kind of crawls into herself to escape the pain. I get it, I have been there! Then, she's at work, gets locked in a closet, gets rescued by a hottie named Colton and then practically lets him do whatever to her as a thank you. She then finds out that he's basically a sociopath so she sleeps with him.

I don't understand this. I understand that she is stifled and this guy brings her out; but then she discovers that he is a liar, manipulator, and all around jerk so she sleeps with him? Yeah, sounds perfect for the girl that is trying to prove that she has value.

After sleeping with him the first time, he breaks her heart.and she leaves in tears. What does she do? Sleeps with him 2 more times. TWICE more! EACH. TIME. SHE. LEAVES. CRYING. She's stupid and deserves what he does to her.

OHHHH~ and she has unprotected sex with him. Because a doctor told her she would have a hard time getting pregnant. Know what those women are called later in life? Single moms.

Really, ALL this book is a miserable story wrapped around 2 miserable people so the author can write about sex. It ends with an absolutely horrific scene that is supposed to leave you wanting more. All it left me was hoping that all the people involved die in a fiery crash so they can be put out of their misery.

Seriously, I wanted to find Rylee and give her the number for her local pregnancy care center~ bc she's going to need it.

I can NOT believe that this goes on for 2 more books!!! We are supposed to hang on bc the sex scenes are hot? I am not buying it. If I wanted to read about girls allowing themselves to be treated like fodder by a man I would watch the local news.

I haven't wrote a review in a while but this book was awesome! Hot and steamy and the story between Colton and Rylee was unmistakably powerful! The connection between the two was so potent! Colton really has such a sensitive side that turns off like a light switch. No wonder Rylee's head is spinning. I almost feel like I can relate in some ways. I'm sure we all can, when it comes to being with a man who has troubles and can't commit. But he was so blatantly honest about his reasons. I really liked the style of writing and how the story plays out. There is so much more to learn about Colton's story that I can't wait until August book 2, Fueled! I encourage you all to read this one!

Simply amazing, it's packed with sensual tension, the constant banter between Colton and Riley is full of sexual innuendo that will make you blush, tickle you pink and get you hot and bothered. The worldly, handsome, millionaire car racer Colton Thomas relentlessly pursued the beautiful Riley Thomas, though smart but naive, didn't stand a chance when it comes to Colton's seduction. This man never gives up, knows his ways around and the quickest way to get in women's pants. Oozes with sex and charm, rolling in fame and dough, women just easily fall on his feet. That would have been great and exciting to be chased by a man like Colton Westin except he has his own demons. His past is so dark that haunts his dreams, so dark even he has great fear confronting it.

Riley Thomas is smart, softhearted and beautiful, also has her own demons caused by a traumatic tragedy in the past. As hard as she fought her attraction to Colton, she has deeply fallen. And therein lies the problem, she can't give him what he wants, he can't give her what she needs.

This story is captivating, has enough angst which make for a good story, it has romance, the dialogue between Colton and Riley is witty and playful and filled with sexual tension. Their sex scenes is hot and steamy and smokin! it's way up the top you'll get caught up in the heat between them.

This is impressive for a new writer, it's well written and has great substance, she ended it with a cliffhanger that's not anti-climatic but still make you looking forward to reading! the next book. Well done Ms. Bromberg!

HASH(0x89cee1c8) étoiles sur 5 The less attractive, less ingelligent cousin of 50 Shades. 7 mars 2014

I would rather stick my hand down a garbage disposal than finish the remaining 61% of this book. Seriously... just a poorly executed knock off of 50 Shades and every other boring, monotonous imitator. He's the rich CEO alpha type with a damaged past. She's the maddeningly aloof ditz of a woman who doesn't know she's beautiful. (Despite her constant referral to her full breasts, and full lips, and full dark curly hair, and her amethyst eyes)
***SLIGHT SPOILER*** The guy is a total ho. And I don't mean the ho that we can secretly appreciate because we can justify it by saying things like..."Yeah Whats-His-Nuts is kinda skanky but at least he's a gentleman about it and all that experience will be put to good use one day *wink*." ...Nope! Not today and not for this ska-douchebag. He's just desperate in the worst way possible. Like, take a Xanax or something. Jeez. The very first conversation between the doomed couple the guy literally says "despite what your head says, your body wants more from this rebel from the wrong side of the tracks." He then proceeds to "growl" in her ear for no reason. ...What? Who the hell refers to themselves as a "rebel from the wrong side of the tracks." That implies that you're a degenerate or resides in a low-income part of town. Not the effing CEO of a profitable company. Ugh! How grossly annoying. The guy tried to be sexy and confident but in actuality he was a piggish, creep with a self-inflated ego. Now lets address the so-called heroine...The girl is just a total moron. Like I don't even understand how she made it into adulthood because she is that stupid. She constantly did 360's until I finally decided that she had the attention span of a deranged squirrel. I stopped reading after she caught him kissing another woman and then preceded to go directly home and sleep with him. If I could throw rocks at her head, I would.

There is nothing romantic, sexy, witty or even remotely redeemable about this book. I don't understand all the people giving rave reviews. God no wonder people suck at relationships when this is the bloody garbage they fantasize about.
