This book does not match its description. I think the person that wrote the description did not read the book. I would make sure to read a couple reviews before buying it because of the description not giving you an accurate idea about what you would be reading. "The Abyss is watching her" i don't know why the description starts with this because the The Abyss is not important to the story. Selene is not in real coven and the story is not about witches, its about elves. There was a lot of build up to fight but fight was super short and really not that important. I also did not like the cliffhanger that the book ended on. I felt that i spend all this time reading this book and this is how it ends? Overall, i just could not get behind Selene and felt that she was just too weak.

Selene lives an average and happy life. She has a job she loves, friends she loves to spend time with, and a very handsome boyfriend.

In one day her average life becomes far from average. She is proposed to, her grandma has an accident, a handsome man stalks her, and she is in danger.

She knows about the Abyss, the realm where the fantasy and paranormal creatures dwell. She didn't know her connection to the Abyss and why it is now seeking her. She must learn to fight to defend herself and the ones she loves.

I had fun reading this book. It is very interesting and the chemistry between Selene and Cheney is wonderful. I loved the take on the mystical creatures. It was fun to have Selene meet several and the reaction they have to her and her to them.

There is swearing (including the "f" word) and adult sexual situations in this book.

I received an electronic ARC copy for review purposes. I am not a paid reviewer, just a person who loves books.

A pretty standard witch story, really, with the kind of characters I felt I'd read about a million times before. Maybe I'm getting jaded, but I feel like I need a book to really sparkle these days, and Easy Bake Coven was an effective version of a story I feel I've read a million times before. Nothing surprising or terribly exciting, but certainly not a bad book at all.

What could have been an interesting book was tainted by punctuation, grammar, spelling and editing errors. Sometimes, there were complete words missing! While trying to manipulate a nurse into seeing a loved one after hours, the sentence reads "She all have, please". It ruined the experience for me.

Selene got on my nerves. She made her like so many other women in paranormal romances: bipolar, emotional with irrational responses to simple statements, flawless but self-conscious, stubborn. It gets really repetitive. Not to mention the random descriptions of her clothing and how it hugs her perfect body. I understand that the author needs to help the reader visualize the characters, but these descriptions were inserted at the oddest times. A good time to describe her outfit would have been while she was getting dressed or looking in a mirror, not while she was checking herself out as she slid into a bar booth. It only accomplished making the character seem incredibly vain.

**Spoiler alert** Sorry, but I just couldn't get past the premise that the heroine decides to trust the male lead implicitly, despite the fact that she has only has two or three incomplete memories of him, and despite the fact that she figures out he's not telling her the whole truth. It felt to me as if Selene was being dragged along for the ride without making any real contributions except supporting her man.
Frankly, deciding to have Selene help Cheney overthrow the current elven government because he says it's an unjust system (which Selene had no memories of) just because he tells her the two of them are married (again, no memories of this) and because they are "bonded" and can't keep their hands off each other... The whole situation annoyed the hell out of me.
I kept reading because I wanted to know what was really going on, but the author ended to book without Selene recovering any of her memories, and without really giving anything but the most unsatisfying hints.
It was like eating those stupid Snackwell keep eating because the last one wasn't QUITE what you wanted, but when you're done with the box, you still don't feel sastified.
