4.0 étoiles sur 5 Will Surely Enhance Your Elder Scrolls Experience 23 juin 2015
Par Shawn Brunelle - Publié sur Amazon.com

This is a good selection of in-game lore directly from the game Skyrim. In fact many of the texts in the book are from the Elder Scrolls Universe in general with such selections as "The Lusty Argonian Maid", "The Wolf Queen", "The Red Year", etc. The text is accompanied by beautiful original artwork, screenshots and conceptual art. Whether you're a fan of the game Skyrim or The Elder Scrolls Universe as a whole, this book is certain to make a fine addition to your physical Elder Scrolls Collection.

Cons:
- Kinda Pricey (list price)
- I still wish they would use a different font choice - or at least mix it up
- No new lore. All material can be found and read in-game

I have attached some pictures shared on Reddit.

Fans of the game, unless you're expecting real leather, real silver, real wax, etc. you're going to be happy.
Here are some particulars:
The cover is a matte finish paper with embossed lettering and symbol in the center. The finish means that it will probably receive some shiny scuffs over time if not properly cared for. It is intended to look like leather, I'm sure. It's an effect that's pulled off pretty well. The symbol in the middle, alas, is not three dimensional except for the emboss. it is just an image, with a shiny finish instead of matte.
There is no jacket on the book, save for the strip you see in the image with the red seal on it. The red seal itself is not three-dimensional in any way.
The book is a bit less than an inch thick roughly.
There is a barcode on the back that cannot be removed. In the pictures section, someone has added a photo of it.
Overall, for the price, I'm extremely happy with it. I can't overstate how great it feels to hold a piece of Tamriel in your hands; to read the lore on an actual page instead of on a virtual page. It's nerdy, but if you're reading this, you probably know what I mean.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Must For Every Serious Elder Scrolls Fan 21 janvier 2016
Par Rosie S. - Publié sur Amazon.com

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of my favorite video games of all time over a dozen or so systems (including PC, of course). I have spent nearly 2,000 hours in the game thus far over three copies, and in saying that, I've never fully completed my in-game collection of books. I'm one of those people who actually spend my precious inventory space on books that I don't yet have on an in-game shelf, and will build an entire second house just for a library (since my first home's library space is usually taken by a child's bedroom, as any player of the Hearthfire expansion can attest to). There are dozens and dozens if not hundreds of books in this game alone, and I do read them. The only problem is that collecting entire collections of volumes in-game can be time consuming and like finding a needle in a haystack.

Amazon recommended The Skyrim Library Volume 1 to me randomly. I hadn't known it existed and bought it immediately. What I received in the mail less than a week later was the coolest book I've ever owned. It's a beautiful hardcover book made to look very similar to the in-game version of "The Book of the Dragonborn". It opens immediately to a map of the entire province of Skyrim, followed closely by a table of contents listing titles that any Skyrim player will recognize from in-game. The book also features art--quite a bit of it--from full page character artworks to art that was clearly drawn before the game was completed and helped shape it to look as it does today.

While there is some violence and very, very light sexual content ("The Lusty Argonian Maid" is included in this book, and I couldn't be happier. It's a hilarious, pun-filled, tongue-in-cheek short "story" of sorts that is so non-direct that kids wouldn't understand it and teens/adults will find it hilarious), this book is in no way as mature rated as its video game counterpart. For parents, look up "The Lusty Argonian Maid" online and decide whether it's appropriate for your children if you're looking to buy this for them, because other than that, there is some light fantasy violence, and that's about it.

Every Elder Scrolls fan who is even slightly interested in the lore of the world needs to own this book. Even for players who enjoyed the games from Arena to Oblivion and felt Skyrim was too casualized, as this is not a book that is reliant on your knowledge of the game and will add to your knowledge of Tamriel in general. The province of Skyrim is the highlight here--though this volume also features stories about or taking place in Morrowind, Cyrodiil, and even Valenwood. For someone like me who owns all of the games and loves them all for their uniqueness, this book is a Godsend.

Overall, this book...from the way it is bound to its contents to its artwork to even the old-fashioned font...is the coolest book I own. I'm reading it cover to cover, and I rarely do that for anything other than graphic novels anymore. I love it so much that I've pre-ordered the next two volumes and am seriously considering buying The Elder Scrolls Online volumes despite not playing multiplayer games, simply because if it's anything like this, I want to read it. I recommend this book more highly than I do any other.
4.0 étoiles sur 5 Good for the lover of elder scrolls, but the series feels incomplete. 8 octobre 2016

Pretty good compilation of the books from Skyrim's history. I was hoping that this would include more of Tamriel's history, particularly the events leading up to Morrowind, but it's primarily focused on Skyrim's role. It appears to have direct copies of the in-game books, with some nice artwork added in.

The book does have some spelling/grammar mistakes though it's not clear if those are copied over from the games or if they're transcribing errors.

Finally, this doesn't include any of the notes or tidbits that add some of the more personal touches to the series. It's more like a library with 'official' books included. The series doesn't include some of the more obscure books (like tome of unlife, mysterium xarxes, traitor's diary).

I'd recommend checking out uesp.net for a full chapter list of the books before you buy.
