Présentation de l'éditeur

"If you like Vince Flynn and Brad Thor, you'll love John Gilstrap."--Gayle Lynds

"My favorite tough guy hero is back." --Jeffery Deaver

"One of the finest thriller writers on the planet." --Tess Gerritsen

Assassins have eliminated a Chechen scientist who's been working as a double agent for the U.S. government. The feds know who to call: Jonathan Grave and his elite rescue team. Their mission: find the dead man's teenage son, who's on the run--and off the grid--with crucial information that must not fall into the wrong hands. There's one problem: the boy's bodyguard is a security specialist with unusual talents, and she's not giving up without a fight. Only by bringing them both back alive can Grave expose the traitor in the highest levels of power--and prevent an all-out nuclear war.

Praise for John Gilstrap

"Gilstrap pushes every thriller button."--San Francisco Chronicle

"A great hero, a really exciting series."--Joseph Finder

"When you pick up a Gilstrap novel, one thing is always true--you are going to be entertained at a high rate of speed."--Suspense Magazine

HASH(0x90aacf78) étoiles sur 5 Sadly disappointing from a long time reader 6 juillet 2014

I've been reading Gilstrap since his first book, always pre-ordered them from Amazon, he was that reliable. Unfortunately, the last three books have been pure formula with very thin plot lines and this one is no exception. You really get the feeling that the author is simply fulfilling a contract and delivering sub-par material (for him it's sub-par). He's now moved from my pre-order ranking to wait until the library has it in their e-book offerings. Even then, it falls into the "nothing better to read" category.

I'd love to see Gilstrap completely change his direction and write an entirely different novel. Challenge himself with all new characters and plots. I still think he has the ability to write darn good fiction, he's just not being challenged to do so.

Gilstrap does it again, with Digger and Boxers once more putting their lives on the line. This time for a fourteen-year-old boy genius who is a real pain in the butt and his nanny/bodyguard Jolaine Cage, a tough-as-nails former military contractor. The rescue has Digger and Boxers caught up on a conspiracy involving the FBI, CIA, Chechnyan terrorists, Russians, and gang bangers from a Detroit hood. The question to be answered is “who are the good guys and who are the bad guys?” The only thing they know for sure is: trust no one.

I really like this series and I think the author has finally got it to a point where the characters are real . I think he has some real opportunity here to build an ongoing series much like Clive Cussler has done with Dirk Pitt . The challenge will be for him not to bring a new reader up to speed on every single item and background info of the characters. Nothing irks me more than to have to re-read what I already know and waste time on background rather than story - punishing me for being a loyal reader, rather than making it a point to encourage readers to start at the beginning of the series . I know the editors aren't going to let him get away with it totally, but I sure hope they understand the readability of the series is dramatically improved if we're rewarded with not having to endure continually being told what we already know .

Really liked the story and plotline the only thing I am perplexed about is a total dismissal of Jonathan's old girlfriend and teammate . We were little too invested in the character to have her swept under the rug with one sentence two books later.

Kudos for John Gilstrap. Love the character, love the concept; when's the next book!?

John Gilstrap writes with such realism you feel your in a 3-D movie, rather than reading novel. I've had difficulty finding thrillers lately that don't jar me out of the story with blatant errors, overblown description, and static dialogue. But, so far, not with this author. Mr Gilstrap knows his subject matter to the nth degree, and creates the suspense, danger, and surprises that readers of his genre crave. His characters are well-drawn, but with enough left out for the reader to become engaged with them, imagine them fully, and accept them as real. His knowledge of the tools of the uber soldier trade is remarkable. Most writers don't know, nor understand, the ordnance they write about. Many think a magazine is a monthly periodical, and a clip is something you use to reclose a potato chip bag. Take it from me, a former Marine, Gilstrap knows his stuff. He's the real deal.

I'll be reading more of his work. I'm betting I won't be disappointed.

WOW! John you did it again...even better! I began reading End Game at midnight Friday night. I read one chapter until my eyes would not stay open. I went to bed, slept until 3 a.m., jumped out of bed and didn't stop until I'd finished reading it. Giljohn you certainly know how to grab the reader. Your characters never let go! I think, Wow. The next one can't be this good, but they're always just a bit better every time. I love the smart kids and the smart women in your books too. Great characters! I also love your "Right On" political smarts...we're on the same wavelength there. Some of your pearls are prophetic and those that haven't been proven so are real jewels-to-hold-one's-breath-for. But what's with that (p)resident 's name? Sounds like a Star Wars character!
Your characters aren't "anybody else's" characters, they are nowhere near being like anyone else's characters. No one comes as close to writing good kid characters as John Gilstrap does. These books would satisfy teens and preteens as well as adults, men and women alike. I need a nap!
