5.0 étoiles sur 5 It's an Amazing Compendium of Thought 16 avril 2013

Format: Broché Achat vérifié
It takes an incredible amount of courage to go back to the basics of human biochemistry and physiology to try and understand exactly how and why the body works the way it does. To further bridge the gap from understanding to therapy is an even greater step.

Dr. Kruse has done exactly that with this book. It's clear that he has read EVERYTHING. It is clear that he has kept an open mind, synthesizing together a framework built from traditional medical models and the state-of-the-art in thinking about humans as evolutionary beings. It is clear that his only objective is to provide the truth and advance understanding further.

As a physician, many times I came to the limits of what conventional medicine had to offer. Unfortunately, in today's medical world, most doctors who hit that limit stop searching for answers. I'm sure many patients have been told by their doctors that "there's nothing else to do." It's frustrating and it's a disservice.

Dr. Kruse blew past those limits and leveraged his experience, knowledge and quest for unity to create this book. He has just made available an amazing tome of medical information and has put it together in a way that is educational and empowering. It's really decades of work.

Personally, I'm very familiar with many of these topics -- and there was still much for me to learn from this book. One reviewer states that there is nothing new in this book and that everything can be found elsewhere. That's not exactly true. But even if it were, no one has put it together like this.

Sure, you might be able to read about all this by scouring the literature and the web, but to synthesize these very complex -- and sometimes conflicting -- topics in an understandable thesis would take you years.

This book is well worth it's price and I'm sure that any reader, layperson or someone with an advanced degree, will benefit from having read it.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 This book has changed my life forever 17 mai 2013

This book is an amazing repository of priceless information for anyone concerned about any health issues. I have used this information to massively change my health direction in the last 18 months. I have been battling through Dr Kruse's blogs and working through the various strands of biology, medicine, chemistry, physics and electronics which approaches health from ground up. This book however is a godsend for anyone that just wants to get the big picture quickly and build understanding from the top down.

First Dr Kruse discusses where medicine is at which is quite horrifying, then he talks about the many types of testing available to the public and what they mean to an individual. It is scary to discover the chasm between science in last 10 years and what your ordinary GP understands of this. Almost nothing! The centre half of the book is devoted to the various disease types, what to test specifically and how to action these results. The last quarter of the book ties together many of these themes into one fascinating hypothesis of how mammals evolved and through the last 65 million years and how this affects us in a practical way now, including the amazing biological trick of Cold Thermogenesis.

This is the closest thing I have seen to a 'How aTo' manual for health in the 21st century, it is eye-opening, practical and positive. Dr Kruse is one of a kind, a Dr that has time to not only work through cutting edge science in many different fields but cares enough to share this information for almost nothing in return. I think his works, including this book are almost priceless and will be looked upon in the future as a seminal, ground changing, body of information.

How has this changed me? I am in my mid forties and have changed in 18 months from being overweight, tired, brain fogged and feeling pessimistic about my health future to being a healthy weight, clear and fast thinking, a strong as I have ever been and with as much energy as I had when I was sixteen. This rocked my world! I changed my diet, changed the timing of when I ate, changed my sleep patterns and got used to being in a bath full of ice, none of which was very hard. For a bit of effort I am a new person and I think that when you look through the reviews and forums you will see I am just one of many that has easily changed for the better.

I can't thank Dr Kruse enough, besides my parents and my immediate family no one has had a bigger positive influence on me.

I just finished reading the Kindle version of this book. I recently started Dr. Kruse's "leptin reset", and so far, it really has changed my life. I've had a weight problem for most of my 68 years, and recently I completed a few rounds of the hCG diet, which resulted in a total loss of 92 pounds. Unfortunately, as is the experience of many after hCG, I've been unable to maintain my weight. Each time I've gotten to my goal weight, I've ended up gaining back 10 or 15 pounds after the round is over, even carefully following the instructions for transition and maintenance. If memory serves, I've repeated that scenario three times since arriving at my goal the first time. I was really at my wit's end when I found the leptin reset. I've been eating this way for two weeks, and now my weight is rock solid stable. I have zero cravings and very little hunger. As of two days ago, I've stopped eating lunch and, so far, am doing extremely well (not eating because I'm just not hungry until dinner time). This has been extremely easy, and the benefits began pretty much the minute I started.

I've also had problems with chronic fatigue, and recently, due to a death in my family, my stress levels have been pretty high, resulting in terrible insomnia. After two weeks on the leptin reset, my sleep is improving, and I have more energy most days. I'm looking forward to seeing how I'm doing after a month or two.

Aside from my own positive experience, I appreciate having a better understanding of leptin and the other factors Dr. Kruse covers in this book. I was already familiar with some of the concepts, but seeing how leptin is connected to so much physiological function other than appetite and weight was fascinating, and I've already found the information to be useful.

As far as editing - it's pretty bad. If the information in the book hadn't been so good, I would have docked my review one more star. When Dr. Kruse writes in his blog, I can forgive the sloppy editing and less-than-wonderful writing style, but with a book, I expect much better. Honestly, I wonder if he even had anyone edit his manuscript. I am a professional editor, and I've done some writing in the past. I would never have considered having anything published without thorough editing by another person. In my experience, it's just not possible to edit one's own work.

I believe it would be useful for Dr. Kruse to find someone to edit this book who has at least some understanding of the subject so that many sections could be stated more clearly. Not to mention the grammatical errors and wrong words here and there (using a word that would pass the spellchecker but incorrect in the text). Having such a poor presentation takes away from the credibility of the material, in my opinion.

Dr Jack Kruse is a rarity.

Not many people are able to think and reason in three-dimension and are able to connect the dots from so many different modalities order to lay out some heavy truths that have long been misread, pushed aside and covered up by conventional medicine.

In Man's search for answers to health problems, he has gone down so many misguided paths - cholesterol, salt, prescription drugs, low fat, artificial sugars, fluoride, preservatives, etc. - in an attempt to get people well. All too often, the efforts are too myopic and don't see what the unintended consequences are. Side effects, increased problems, and failed resolutions, all are the result of trying to shove a square peg into a hole they can't see is the wrong shape.

When one has a thirty-thousand foot view of the human condition, and has the ability to remember and relate proven, well-established tenets of bio-chemical truth, they can show us the way back to our natural state of being - a healthy Human. And perhaps beyond, but that's up to each of us, I suppose.

Dr. Kruse has that ability.

After searching for over 50 years for a pathway to better health free of political, economic, and social prejudices, I finally found many answers one day when a kind forum member suggested I check out his blog.

I've been healing ever since.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Dr. Kruse's book at last! 2 avril 2013

I have been waiting for this book for so long, and it didn't disappoint! There were some surprises in it, though I have been following Dr. Kruse's website, with great results, for over a year. And I had to read the last chapter twice! He added a lot of new details will make quite a difference to one person in my family. It's good to have many of Dr. Kruse's ideas in one nice to read, accessible place. And once you know how the mind & body really work, you do better.

I feel like bookmarking one chapter to hand to this family member with osteoporosis, another chapter for another relative with diabetes, etc. The information is concise and actionable, yet it has enough background information to teach you why you need to change what you are doing or eating. I'm also going to purchase a copy for my family doctor, so he can understand me better, and perhaps others can benefit as well.

Thanks for publishing the paper edition!
