*Sigh* Where do I begin. Well, it picks up right where book 1 leaves off, which is a good thing. Let's see...there's Eve dating Cain (hello Freud), and Abel fighting for her attention, simply b/c Cain has her.
When Eve is off to training camp for demon hunting, things get complicated. There are wolves, glamour spells and lots of fighting. I like the fighting parts. I like the blood. What I don't like is Able. I'm really starting to hate him. He vies for Eve's attention then goes off to get a BJ (yes it stands for what you think it does, I just had to make it "amazon friendly") from another girl in Eve's class...WTF? I wanted to reach into the book and kick him in the d**k! I though Abel was the good brother...
Anyway, Eve sees this while she's on the phone with Cain and there's some sort of hive mind thing going on. She storms off she and Abel get into some argument where he tries to convince her he did it to deal with her dating his brother and she's just jealous. This guy is either douche, a moron, or both. Seriously, I know I'm not an avid bible reader, but isn't Cain supposed to be the jerk?
Cain later is promoted to archangel status to replace the missing Raguel and out of default isn't as prominent in Eve's life. In steps Abel and Eve...lets him...I just shook my head. Where is this woman's self esteem? I'd be saying, "go get a bj from what's her face..."
But oh no, not this clueless idiot who still doesn't fully believe in demons even though she killed 3 at this point.
After her date with Abel, she returns home to finally see Cain again. She agrees to try to deal with his archangel thing and now she's...sort of seeing them both, yet she keeps telling herself she's a one man woman. Just because they're brothers doesn't make them 1 embodiment. 2 heads are not better than 1 if 1 keeps getting in the way...
I want to like this series. I really do. But I'm losing hope. I need to read something else (and a drink) before diving into Book 3.
Someone or something appears to be stalking the members of her class. Eve wonders if she'll figure out who - or what - is after them in time to save anybody. Reed Abel, Cain's mythical brother, is there to stir the pot and antagonize his brother by making moves on Eve in a seeming eternal triangle.
With enough erotic romance and action to satisfy every reader looking for a strong yet flawed heroine, this story carries through with the inventive premise of angels and demons working and living among the mortals of earth. A fun and emotionally-charged ride!
