Présentation de l'éditeur

"[A] solid how-to book...For amateur dream researchers, this is a must."
This book goes far beyond the confines of pop dream psychology, establishing a scientifically researched framework for using lucid dreaming--that is, consciously influencing the outcome of your dreams. Based on Dr. Stephen LaBerge's extensive laboratory work at Stanford University mapping mind/body relationships during the dream state, as well as the teachings of Tibetan dream yogis and the work of other scientists, including German psycholgist Paul Tholey, this practical workbook will show you how to use your dreams to: Solve problems; Gain greater confidence; improve creativity, and more.

This book contains a wide variety of techniques for lucid dreaming from different esoteric traditions. The essence of one's success with lucid dreaming though, IS, intention to dream lucidly.

You may be surprised with how many things you can accomplish just like that by beginning with a state of mind that it is easy to accomplish, that it is natural for you to accomplish it, intending the effect and expecting it.

It may take you more time to experience lucid dreaming if you have never invested any effort to work intentionally with your subconscious mind, but on the other hand, if you are experienced working with self-hypnosis, you may find yourself having a lucid dream just by reading through the book because it would plant a suggestion in your subconscious. Perhaps you have already had experiences where you watched something on TV just before going to sleep and then dreaming about it; or reading something before going to sleep and then dreaming about it - it can be as easy as that.

And yes, the practice of conditioning your mind to be aware that you are, even now, awake in your dream - works. Again, if you have never engaged in any spiritual practice, or working with your mind, it may seem that there is a distinction between the "dream" of your waking life (the time when you believe that you are fully awake) and the dreams you dream during the night - but if you'd engage in creating outcomes intentionally in your daily life with your mind - your daily life would soon begin to feel like a dream, just a projection from your mind - one moment you think about something - and the next moment you experience it in your outer reality.

HASH(0x985112e8) étoiles sur 5 Lucid dreams achieved with this book and the excercises!! 13 mars 2013

I purchased this book at a vunerable time in my life. I had never heard of Lucid dreaming but it sounded interesting when I accidently stumbled upon it so I thought'why not?"

Well half way through the book I had my first lucid dream. AMAZING!

I began writing down my dreams in the morning. Even a sentence or just a word I could remember from them at first. After a few days I started rememberng more details. I wrote them down for a week. Then I wrote a page of common links I kept seeing in my dreams (ie: rejection) It was always common. And a page of things I wanted to do if I ever became lucid. I re-read all of these things often and would say to myself outload many times a day " Am I dreaming?" If I was not, I would follow up with " are you sure?"

So I layed in bed one night and tried the W.I.L.D technique. I started seeing vortex swirls and colours with my eyes closed but still awake. I was then thrust into a very life like dream. I asked myself if I was dreaming. I replied to myself that 'no! Of course I wasn't" I asked myself Are you sure? And suddenly I looked around and said "Oh my god, I am dreaming". Everything suddenly changed!!! I felt like I was not in the dream but in real life. I was lucid!!

Immediatley as I looked around, the room I was 'standing in' fell away like it dismantled itself and the floor dropped away from under my feet. I was falling in pitch blackness and I could see a red light.

I was yelling in my dream that I was awake, and I was so excited and then I woke up. So dissapointed but I felt euphoric for days afterwards.
I have only had 1 other lucid dream. I realized I was dreaming, became lucid and woke up instantly from the excitement.

I became busy and stopped puttting in effort to write down my dreams and so I've not had another, but I'm getting back into it now and this book is definitley a 'how to' guide. I would recommend it to everyone.

Lucid dreaming is not scary, it is an overwelming sense of joy. Good luck to all.

HASH(0x98511534) étoiles sur 5 The authoritative work on developing lucid dreaming ability. 5 décembre 2000

Lucid dreaming, i.e. dreaming with full awareness, is one of the most ecstatic experiences open to human beings. Yet creating this state of bliss has traditionally been difficult - the naive approach of autosuggestion produces only very low success rates.
In "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming", Stephen LaBerge discusses far more efficient techniques, including one pioneered by himself - MILD, or Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams. He explains how to create conditions conducive to lucid dreaming, how to prolong a lucid dream once one has one, and how to use lucid dreams for creative problem solving, health, entertainment and spiritual growth.
I should point out, however, that there is no miracle method for having lucid dreams instantanously. The techniques that this book offers still need to be exercised, patiently and diligently over a period of weeks if not months before results will start to materialize. But if you are willing and motivated to invest the necessary work and effort, this book will be one of the best guides there is. For those readers who prefer a simple, step-by-step approach, I would also recommend "Lucid Dreams in 30 Days" by Keith Harary and Pamela Weintraub.

Although this inspiring book presents a new model of dreaming and consciousness, its approach is primarily practical, covering methods for inducing lucid dreams, and a variety of applications. LaBerge also includes a brief history of his scientific research; all is presented in an engaging and comprehensible manner. Reading the book gave me an appreciation for his dedicated pioneering in the field of mind/body mapping and the ingeniousness of his lucid dream induction methods and devices.
This book offers the most extensive collection of step-by-step techniques for increasing consciousness during sleep. It also includes accounts of what a variety of lucid dreamers have done with their dream lives. For me, the most important point was how the same skills and mindfulness developed through learning to lucid dream can also deeply enhance one's waking life.
Why sleep through dreams (and sleepwalk through waking life) when lucidity is a learnable skill? This excellent, easy-to-follow guide is essential reading for dream explorers of all levels of experience.

HASH(0x98511a20) étoiles sur 5 It works! 3 août 2013

Actually, I bought and read this book a few years ago and picked it up again three weeks ago.

I followed the advise and started a dream journal, doing reality tests during the day...etc. Only thing I do additionally is listen to a "Hemi-Sync" tape everyday on the web.

Had my first lucid dream last night after about three weeks after rediscovering the book. Totally cool! I've had them before, but it's the type of thing that is so cool it doesn't lose it's novelty! And it really defies satisfactory description. Absolutely fantastic altered state of reality!!

Another tip. Stare at your hands during the day and before going to bed. I did so in last night's dream and I was missing a thumb. So I knew "this is it!". Looked at my hands later in the dream and one of my fingers was bent really funny.

Get the book!

I started reading the book around January 15 and just had my firs Lucid Dream last night - January 2. It took me about 2 weeks to succeed with my first dream. For other novices like me, I highly recommend the book. The first few chapters give a detailed step by step, how to proceed in order to learn how to have lucid dreams. For those who are interested, but have not yet started, I should state that this is not something you can simply read the book and start having lucid dreams. It takes a lot of work, and you have to consistently do the exercises and not get discouraged if you don't succeed right away. I was disappointed that I did not have a lucid dream my first week. Then about a week ago, I became aware that I was dreaming in one of my dreams, but I immediately woke up (a step in the right direction). Finally, last night I succeeded in staying in the dream. Very exciting! Without the book, I would have had no idea of what to do or how to proceed. I can't promise that it will work for everyone, but it did work for me.
