5.0 étoiles sur 5 Psychadelia in the world of melancholy. 10 octobre 2002
Par Kuroneko1 - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Vain took a little bit different approach with the fourth album "fade". The sound is still the same, so the vocals of dave, the trademark of vain. They put a lot of importance on the psychadelic side of the band which was always there, lying underneath. Band managed to dig it out and presented as a small direction change. Album is a bit laid back but does not posess a lazy attitude. The album has no songs like "whisper","1000 degrees" or "here comes lonely". But it does have songs which make the whole album stand out as together. "Hollow&spur", "dee dee" are all melancholic monsters spiced up with psychadelia. The gorgeous ballad "powder blue" shines like an unique ornament which cannot be found in any other band's history. Dave never wrote a song like "without you" or "every rose has its thorn" (which are great songs). He chose the hard way and wrote his ballads as original as they can be. Songs are again about hearthaches and brave but empty and hopeless moves in life.
Vain deserved better things with album. Another piece of original sleaze/hard rock you can not encounter often. It took guts to put this album out and needs a bit patience to listen.
I still listen to it and cannot skip any songs. It really has that hook when you started to get in to it.

This project was the obvious evolution of Davy's art, music and heart. I really wish it was easier to get his other CD's...I have them...but I'm in fear of them getting ruined and then being left without them. But back to this CD...It has everything you like from alot of those 80's glam bands...but this is at another level...its deeper, sexier, and just plain cooler. As for the guitar playing...Well...if I could play...I'd be ripping these licks off and the tone too!...I think Davy plays some...and some James Scott...and I think there's a guest too...but I don't remember...just buy it...so maybe he'll make another one...and if you know of any other Cd's of his E-mail Thanks
4.0 étoiles sur 5 Great album for anyone who grew up on "GLAM" 22 septembre 1998

I grew up on the "hair bands" of the 1980s/early 90s. This is a great album for anyone who enjoyed good time rock of that era, but has grown musically as well. This album is not dated as the debut Vain album is. It fits into the current music scene, and still has the same feel as the early "No Respect" days. I recommend it as well as "Move on it" (my favorit Vain CD)

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Vain - 'Fade' (Revolver) 12 septembre 2006
Par Mike Reed - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Not quite as good as their '89 debut 'No Respect' (see my review), but I thought that 'Fade' was a decent '94 later release by the one-timer '80's metal band. Tunes I liked best here were "Holdin' On","Powder Love","Voyeurism" and the rocking "Layin' Low". Line-up:Davy Vain-guitar&vocals,Danny West-slide guitar and Steven Adler-drums. One thing I'd like to know, did this version of Vain ever tour? An okay pick.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 a good look at an over looked band 1 novembre 1998

Well the album Fade was a good album, yes it had mixtures of their previous album Move On It but i don't know where the traces of no respect would be...this album is fresh and very good, lots of moody tunes laced with a ninties glam fashion....i recommend it to anybody lookin for a good album.
