Présentation de l'éditeur

Danielle and Wes have been best friends since college, so when Wes needs a date for his sister’s wedding and Dani needs a partner for her company’s retreat, they devise the perfect plan: a fake engagement to get through both events unscathed. Adrenaline-junkie Wes can prove to both his ex and his family that he’s well and truly moved on, and serious-minded Dani can prove to her boss that she’s worthy of the promotion he seems to only want to give to a family-oriented employee. But amid the fake swoons, fake kisses, and forced proximity, neither expects the very real feelings that develop. There’s nothing more dangerous than falling for your best friend…but what if the landing is worth the fall?

Falling For Her Fiance was a really cute romance with two of my favorite tropes at play: the fake relationship turned real and friends to lovers! Dani and Wes have been best friends since college. Strictly friends, although no one ever believes them. Dani really wants a promotion at her job, but notices that only "family" people have been getting them, so she comes up with an idea. Her company has a retreat coming up, which will be swarming with couples, so she asks Wes to pose as her fiance! He jumps at the idea, since he needs a date for his sister's wedding, where his ex will be a bridesmaid. Perfect.

I totally believed the super close friendship between Dani and Wes. They are so comfortable around each other and just know how to have fun. They've never tried to be more than friends, but now they're both seeing the other in a new light. Of course, they're each convinced that the other wants to remain only friends so nothing happens, except a few kisses for show (which felt awfully real!). The two also don't even live in the same state and their job prospects keep it that way, so it would never work out, right? Wrong! The ending is super cheesy, but it totally worked for them, so I'm okay with it!

Falling For Her Fiance was fun. I found myself smiling through most of it, because I just loved the interactions between Dani and Wes. I wanted to smoosh their faces together and lock them in a room so they could get their feelings out! My one complaint, is that I didn't like their "break up" at all. Wes is kind of impulsive and adventurous, and someone close to him follows his suggestion of doing something fun, yet dangerous and gets hurt. Somehow this makes him think he can never ever get married. What? Yeah, I don't get it either. It all worked out in the end though.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Simple, clean romance with predicable plot and ending 14 janvier 2015

There's no great surprise here, no cliffhanger, nothing that would make you rage or otherwise feel negative about this book. "Falling For Her Fiance" is a clean and very nice romance in a plot line that isn't original to either books, movies or television. But it's a good read and I enjoyed it.

Dani and Wes have been best friends since college, and apart from one mishandled kiss years prior their friendship has remained platonic. Dani is looking to get ahead at work and enlists Wes to pose as her fiance so she can impress her boss into giving her a promotion. Wes agrees so long as he comes to his sister's wedding posing as his fiance to make his ex-fiance jealous. How you think this relationship and the book will end is exactly how they will both end.

Dani falls for Wes but thinks he's still in love with his ex.
Wes falls for Dani but thinks she won't reciprocate because she views him as a friend.
So both of them want to act on their feelings but routinely deny themselves the pleasure.

The mixed signals and knowledge that - YES, the other person loves you too, so act on it already! - does get annoying towards later half of the book. And I must say that I found myself getting annoyed with Dani, though not for any reason I can pinpoint accurately. She's very focused on work and getting ahead so she can help support her family, and is subsequently afraid to take chances. It's understandable but a tad grating (maybe too on the nose for how I feel in my own life sometimes?).

I enjoyed most of the will-they-or-won't-they buildup to the end and was pleased it ended how I thought it would. I was also pleased that there is no sequel. There doesn't need to be a sequel. Sometimes authors can't let go of characters and keep writing for them long after the first book (I'm guilty of this myself, so I can't really complain). This is a satisfying standalone read that is enjoyable, cute, and will leave you smiling.

I enjoyed reading this book. I was actually quite jealous of Dani and Wes having such a great relationship for so many years. She lives in Arkansas working hard in PR so she can assist her mother and grandmother financially. Wes lives back in NC where he is a helicopter pilot. They create a fake engagement because he needs her to attend his sister's wedding and she needs him for her company morale building weekend. They start having romantic feelings for each other and instead of discussing it,she runs and hides from him. He decides to never get into another relationship ever. She's handed a promotion but it's a 2 year contract and now that she sees she loves Wes she's uncertain. Wes decides since she loves him that he needs to make the grand gesture.....and he does.
I enjoyed reading this and look forward to more from Ms. Madsen. She created a story that was totally believable.

When Danielle needed a partner for her company’s family-oriented retreat and Wes needed a girlfriend to prove to his family that he’s not hurting over a break-up, they decide that faking their engagement will solve both their problems. After all, they’ve been best friends since they’d met in college. The only problem is that being thrown together in a seemingly loving relationship does things to both of their hearts.

I like this story, but too much of it was built around misunderstandings. I’m tired of problems that could be easily solved if the two people would just be honest with each other. However, I did enjoy reading this novel for the most part.

Falling for Her Fiance by Cindi Madsen is a nice, charming love story that has the ability to preoccupy you for a couple of hours. It was well written with a leading couple whose charismatic personalities drive the story.

While I didn’t find anything off putting about the book, I also didn’t find anything extraordinary about it. Considering it’s a love story that center around Wes and Dani, who have been best friends for years and decide to pose as an engaged couple for their own separate purposes, you pretty much know where it was headed. But I did appreciate Madsen taking the time developing the shift between Wes and Dani into friendship towards romance. It was clear there’s a deep bond between them so all that was needed was having them see each other in a different light to make them realize what’s really between them.

I recently reviewed a book, calling it an “indulgent” love story that you could just sit back and relax to. This book would also fall into that category (although this book is more on a PG level). This is a sweet love story with a light-hearted tone which you can read if you have a couple of hours to fill.
