Présentation de l'éditeur

An Irresistible Attraction Story

After over a year together, Connor Morrison and Wes Martin decide to tie the knot. But an ethics complaint regarding their deeply non-traditional relationship threatens Connor’s job and Wes’s Ph.D. The fact that Connor tried to keep it from Wes — even with the best of intentions — makes the situation even worse and casts a pall over their plans for a Christmas wedding in New York.

It doesn’t help that Connor still treats Wes like glass, though Wes insists he’s recovered from the brutal assault he suffered a year and a half earlier. Wes may be okay, but Connor isn’t. Memories of taking a battered, terrified Wes to the emergency room that night still haunt him, and he can’t let go of the need to protect Wes from any and everything life might throw at him.

But Wes has had enough. Between the specter of the ethics complaint and Connor’s overprotectiveness, he’s already beginning to question their plans. Add in a family ashamed of and angered by his choices, and Wes might just leave Connor standing at the altar.

My Review:
I read Priceless (and loved it) about a month ago, although I didn't put the review up until this morning so I was really excited when I heard that there was going to be a follow-up book for Wes and Connor.

There were things that happened in the first book which have left mental scars on both these guys. Wes was turning tricks and one of his john's almost killed him. Wes has been seeing a therapist, but Connor hasn't. Neither of these guys really thought through how that event affected him too. Now the guys are on the cusp of their marriage and everything has been thrown into chaos. Someone has reported them to the college (Connor was a prof, Wes a student). Although the college has known about their relationship for the last year, suddenly someone is threatening to go to the media and the college has had to take action. Connor's suspended while Wes's graduate work looks incredibly iffy. Lots of stress on top of the other stresses on them which have strained their relationship.

I liked this novella. Relationships, even Happily Ever After ones, take work. It's a constant give and take and I liked getting to watch these two work through this. They were amazing, likable characters in the first book and I love them even more now. I highly recommend this series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Fearless is a great story of acceptance, leaving demons behind and committing to that one person who 'gets' you.

Connor and Wes have been together over a year when out of the blue troubles comes knocking. Connor has been accused of improper behavior and placed on indefinite suspension. He accepts that the chances of him returning to his job are slim, but he doesn't want Wes to worry about it. Ever since the events Wes went through last year, Connor has been determined to protect Wes and shelter him from anything that could hurt him. Wes is beyond happy that their relationship has moved forward, but he knows that Connor is still holding himself back. Even after continued reassurances that he is better, Connor continues to treat him like he is made of glass. This is made abundantly clear when Wes discovers that Connor has been keeping things from him months.

I enjoyed visiting with Wes and Connor. Wes has truly gotten over the events the previous year and it expectantly awaiting their upcoming wedding. It was a treat to see how much he had grown into himself and how they had taken their relationship further. While in book one I felt more connected to Wes, in this installment Connor endeared himself to me much more than before. But, although I understood where he was coming from and why he was trying to protect Wes, I still didn't accept that he kept things from him. Nor did I condone the way Wes acted when he found out that Connor had been keeping things from him. It was like they took one step forward and then two steps back.

The writing was very good with a lot of tender moments and emotions thrown into the mix - it had a bit of angst, a bit of drama and lots of romance. I loved that the author, Cat Grant, had them fight for their love and deal with unpleasant issues before they found their happily ever after. It is because of this that their story and the ending felt more real to me. I enjoyed their interactions and I especially enjoyed how they came together in the end and opened themselves to each other. It gave me hope that they would be alright, I even was misty-eyed. Of course, their chemistry was still hot, so I enjoyed that too. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and what they brought to the story. Even if I felt the need to smack some sense into Wes' aunt during that phone call, she did bring out a change in Wes that was needed in his relationship with Connor.

All in all, a great follow up book that highlighted the fact that without proper communication between these characters their relationship was only going through the motions and not getting anywhere. A great read, indeed!

This story is a pleasant and well-written sequel to Priceless and picks up shortly after the end of that book. There's a lot of drama and internal strife for Wes and Connor, both inside and outside their relationship, as they travel to New York to get married. These issues are both believable and handled in a mature way that reiterates the connection between these two.

The outside world invades the idyllic life Wes and Connor forged which puts their futures in jeopardy and in trying to protect Wes, Connor has again made Wes feel like the younger man he is. Wes just wants to be considered a partner to Connor and is tired of being treated with kid's gloves. He doesn't want to live in the past, he's all about moving forward and he wants to move forward with Connor. Connor's still stuck in the past though as he can't get over the trauma Wes went through. It's led him to be overprotective of Wes to the point of smothering. He keeps anything stressful away from Wes which almost puts an end to their happiness. Thankfully these issues are dealt with quickly and in a mature way through talking.

This was just a small speed bump in an otherwise joyous story with love scenes that were emotional but not too overtly sexual. Along with the two main characters we got a return visit from Steve, who was given his own book in this series, as well as being the catalyst to Wes and Connor meeting. We also get a visit from a family member of Wes' whose background story is shrouded in mystery but is surrounded by pain that has me intrigued. This is an immensely satisfying story with a likable cast of characters working hard for their HEA. It's a wonderfully heartwarming addition to the Irresistable Attraction series and I look forward to these continuing glimpses into the world of these science geeks.

Before starting this book, I read Priceless and Doubtless, the first two of the series. Fearless was actually a sequel to Priceless but if it were up to me, I'd recommend you to read both Priceless and Doubtless before starting Fearless.

Reading the raw emotions between Connor and Wes were pretty tough for me because I could imagine it in my head if it had happened to me. To be a victim of violence wasn't something I could relate to because I never experienced it before myself. The author described the emotions really well and it helped me understand what he was feeling. Connor, on other hand, was powerful and I was surprised he didn't get any help while Wes did. It reminded me of war where soldiers saved someone's life by ending someone else's and it would haunt his/her mind. Connor was experiencing the similar thing. He witnessed something really horrible in Priceless.

Admittedly, I think their engagement was a bit too premature because they both clearly have a lot of things to work things through before getting married. I was so worried about their happy ending and they sure earned it. Certain plots in the book shocked me. You'll need to read and find out what I was talking about. I didn't give the book a full five hearts because there is one part that I felt it needed to expand a bit. Their marriage scene was cut off abruptly. I felt like I was missing something. Not even a "I do" scene. I think that scene would be very important to be included in the book. Still, the book satisfied me well.

I'm looking forward to read more books in the series. Steve needs his happy ending too! ;D

It was super fun to get back to Connor and Wes in this third installment of Cat Grant's 'Irresistible Attraction' series. It's now been a year that they've been in a committed relationship, they bought a home together, and they're planning to get married in New York at Christmas. What could possibly go wrong? I know better than to ask that question.

Just when the semester is done and they have a whole month together, Connor tells Wes that he's been brought up on an ethics charge because of his and Wes's relationship. It's ridiculous since Connor isn't supervising Wes's thesis and Wes isn't taking any of Connor's classes. Doesn't seem to matter, though, as someone has their panties in a twist over it and has complained. What's even worse is that Wes feels like this is a fight they need to face together and make decisions about their future together, but Connor seems to be taking over and, once again, treating Wes like he's made of glass. It's bad enough that Connor still treats him that way in bed because of the assault Wes suffered, but they're getting married and decisions that affect them both should be discussed.

There was some realistic drama and angst in this story that I'm glad Connor and Wes went through. I think it made their relationship stronger and got some issues out of the way before they tied the knot. Now I'm looking forward to the next book which is how Steve meets Gil. Can't wait!
