Présentation de l'éditeur

From the author of Lone Wolf comes a paranormal romance about two lovers torn between ecstasy and savagery...

Jace Warden is sent to the Shiftertown in Austin to find a way to free all Shifters from their Collars. But pulling off the Collars can cause Shifters to go mad or kill them outright.

In Austin, Jace meets Deni Rowe, a wolf Shifter with troubles of her own--she was deliberately run down in the road, and while her body has healed, she still has episodes of total memory loss during which she retreats into her pure animal self.

Jace has never met anyone like Deni. Courageous and beautiful, she volunteers to help him test the Collar removal. And as Deni and Jace work together, they feel the mate bond begin. But can Jace help Deni believe she can heal enough to be anyone's true mate?

This fourteen-chapter novella includes a preview of the upcoming Shifters Unbound novel Wild Wolf.

HASH(0x9c962444) étoiles sur 5 I love this series but... 27 avril 2014

I really felt that Jace deserved someone... well... MORE.

Deni is a nice women, but older than Jace with mostly grown cubs of her own and has been mated before. She has been fighting going feral after a bad motorcycle accident and Jace is from the Vegas shifter town, there illegally to help the Morrisey's figure out how to safely remove the collars.

Jace and Deni meet when he arrives in town at the fight club and Jace is jumped by another shifter and Deni can't fight her instincts and jumps in to help Jace.

Cute short story with many of the series favorites making an appearance, but (sigh) not a lot of chemistry. Jace deserved better!

Best to read series in order for full enjoyment!

HASH(0x9c974084) étoiles sur 5 Why is this series narrated by a woman? 10 mai 2014

To address my title for this review, I have to say I wanted to get the audio, but this series is narrated by a woman and really should be narrated by a man. Much of the interaction is between male shifters and most of the female voices are between the h and the H. So proportionally, there is usually more male dialog. At least that's what I think. I haven't counted words. That does not affect my review because I read the novella on my Kindle.

I don't find that many novellas I really like. They are too short. Duh! And this one was just not that interesting. I like a nice sexy romp as well as the next person, but this all happened way too fast. I feel like Jace deserved more than Deni also, as has been mentioned before. If you read this series, you'll still want to read it, but to pick it up without having read some of the others might lead you to think it's a boring series, and it is not. I'm just finishing up Wild Wolf, and it was very good. So start at the beginning and fit this one in where it belongs.

Let me start by saying I really enjoy this series, though I wasn't able to get into this particular story despite having an idea of the two in previous books. Having said that, I think this is where the problem lies. Because Jace and Deni were always on the periphery of stories, I didn't get a good sense of either of them. Yes, Deni was damaged, but that's pretty much all that's known about her, which doesn't make for a well-rounded, or interesting character. Jace even more so---his character development was pretty non-existent. If I can't be bothered to care about the two main(s) then the story is always going to fall flat for me. However, this bit of disappointment won't preclude me from reading the next book in the series---not when J.A.'s written such unforgettable characters as, Tiger, Ronan and Liam.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ '''''
Jennifer Ashley spins a tale of fantastically different diversities in shifters that are searching for a way out of their captivity from their human jailers. Their collars that were forced on them though Fae and Human technology keeps them controlled and incarcerated within set boundaries, mental as well as physical. In Feral Heat, Jace and Deni are thrust together in unlikely circumstances. From the beginning they both feel the mating frenzy, a pull to mate and their lives become intertwined forever. This is their journey to find love, acceptance and freedom.

Deni is lupine and her brother Ellison is her alpha. Her family consists of her two cubs, Ellison and Maria, Ellison's mate. She suffered a near kidnapping that damaged her when her motorcycle crashed during a chase by a mad man. Deni has been trying to find her way back to the land of the living and a way to heal from the damaged done to her mind and body.

Jace is the son of the alpha of the Las Vegas Shiftertown and is a strong alpha among feline shifters. He is a dominant that can control his emotions and has volunteered to be experimented on. Dylan and his sons lead the Austin Shifters and want to find a way to remove the collars of all shifters without it driving them insane. Jace holds great power over his cat and can consciously avert his collar from going off during times when he uses his animal senses. When Jace and Deni begin to bond their world is turned upside down by the police searching the Austin shiftertown. Who are they looking for and who is betraying them? No one knows!

This is another great addition to Ms. Ashley’s paranormal romance series. The author has the ability to grab you from the beginning weaving her story through her words causing you to get lost in the politics, drama and danger of shifters living in different Shiftertowns. There are certain developments in this book that will have you on the edge of your seat. The interaction between previous characters that you know and love is also a major plus. You are able to check in and see how their lives together are progressing in this ongoing saga. This is a highly recommended series to add to your to be read stack. A look at the life of shifters in a shiftertown community is entertaining and allows the reader inside a fantasy world where they can escape into a reality created by this brilliant author.

HASH(0x9c9753a8) étoiles sur 5 And Then There's The Collar Issue. .. 21 mars 2014
Par Daniel Bowen - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle Achat vérifié
Jennifer Ashley's shifter stories are always interesting, well written, and absorbing. This novella stacks up to the others and is just as good, even if it is a shorter version.

This story focuses on Jace and Deni and their attraction that leads to a lifelong commitment. Jace came to Shiftertown to help with the collars - He's volunteered to be 'experimented on' for collar removal. So he leaves Nevada and travels by plane down to the Austin area. . . which is forbidden by humans. . . and is in one situation after another where he could get caught. . . Because he shouldn't be outside his own shifter territory.

Spoiler:

The collar issue is FINALLY resolved in this story. I also happen to agree with what another viewer wrote. . . How can the humans get their hands on so many collars? They're made up of 3 elements and one of those is extremely rare. So again, how do the humans get so many of these collars? Who is behind marketing them?

Deni and Jace have their own issues to work out. She has two 'cubs' in their 20's and a brother she hates to leave. Jace has his own commitments in his home town where he's his father's right hand man. Thankfully Jennifer Ashley ties everything together into a satisfying ending.

This is an excellent novella for those into shiters and have read the Shiftertown series. Each book can stand alone yet characters in each book have had their own stories previously. The price is well worth reading this story. - Dan's Wife
