Présentation de l'éditeur

The People's Republic of Haven's sneak attack on the Kingdom of Manticore has failed. The Peeps are in disarray, their leaders fighting for power in bloody revolution, and the Royal Manticoran Navy stands victorious.

But Manticore has domestic problems of its own, and success can be more treacherous than defeat for Honor Harrington. Now, trapped at the core of a political crisis she never sought, betrayed by an old and vicious enemy she'd thought vanquished forever, she stands alone.

She must fight for justice on a battlefield she never trained for in a private war that offers just two choices: death . . . or a ''victory'' that can end only in dishonor and the loss of all she loves.

David Weber is the new Big Name in science fiction, and his dauntless Honor Harrington has conquered not only the enemy but the hearts of thousands of readers everywhere, who have been relentlessly demanding Honor's exploits in a more permanent form. And we're happy to oblige.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Is Pavel Young finally getting his just desserts or is politics going to intrude on justice? 14 juillet 2015

This was an outstanding continuation of what is stacking up to be a brilliant and engrossing series. While this one does not have action that is driven by battles in space, this one nevertheless gives us the action derived from the more personal battles that Honor faces. Her first hurdle is to go through the court-martial of Pavel Young, her long-time enemy and all-round slimy weasel. Unfortunately for Honor, justice only goes so far in a Manticore where the government holds a slim majority and even the governments various factions are willing to go to any lengths to ensure Pavel Young gets off the charges brought against him - including breaking away from the government, leaving the government in disarray. While I won't give away the out-come of the court-martial, I will say, Honor goes on a lengthy break to Grayson. David Weber's ability to paint a picture of how internal politics can shape and affect events is brilliantly done as is the effect it has on Honor as she seeks the justice she has been unable to find, even if the cost is high - a fact pointed out near the end of the book by White Haven's brother that encapsulates how much the people in power have failed her. In a lot of ways this is a grueling novel and Honor is put through the wringer, but she is never alone as she is surrounded by the people who have grown to love her and they demonstrate how far they are willing to go to protect her. I highly recommend this book - absolutely an unput-downable read.
4.0 étoiles sur 5 Surprisingly good break from ship combat 24 juillet 2016

I am happier with this novel than expected because I think Weber's romantic writing is cliche and a weakness. That will make more sense when you finish the book...

Until then, just know that this book is all about politics, which will be frustrating because the unfairness of it all seems worse than reality. But we couldn't have a good book without conflict, and in book four of the series, that conflict manifests almost everywhere except in naval action.

Very satisfying to finish, and the plot is building itself well through the series overall, I might add. I'm expecting good things from book five, no repetition in sight for the series, which is impressive.
4.0 étoiles sur 5 Honor Harrington deals with treachery and subterfuge instead of broadsides and missile salvos 1 février 2016

While there is very little naval combat this book explores some of the law, politics and cultural customs of Manticore which is interesting. David Weber's obvious love affair with Parliamentary rule under a constitutional monarchy really shows through here. Fans, like myself, who are here to read about exactly how many battlecruisers Honor has in her squadron, what the enemy force organization template is, and how Honor can do clever things with trajectories and naval engagement doctrines will miss the ships being underway, but I was surprisingly pleased with this entry. I had planned to skim it once I realized that Honor wasn't going to be taking the beat stick to the PRH in this book, but I wound up engrossed by the end.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Horatio Hornblower syfy at its very best 25 janvier 2015

This series will hook you fast if your genre is military sci-fi. Patterned after the Horatio Hornblower tales, David Weber forwards the action plot into a distant future and enemies aplenty. Honor Harrington is an incredibly likable hero. The jams she gets into and out of are edge of the seat serial classics.

Enjoy the story! It’s surely one of the very best serials in the genre.
5.0 étoiles sur 5 Compelling and emotionally intense 5 juin 2016

A very compelling and emotionally intense book in this series. This one is not filled with space battles but with personal losses and battles for Honor Harrington. That doesn't make this book a stand alone book, you have to have read the books that came before it in the series for it to hold you and affect you. Trust me, if you've followed the series you will be affected.
That said it is a very good book, well written and vital I think to a readers understanding of the characters in this series. I am sure that the other books in this series that follow this one will build on this one to bring readers even closer to the characters.
