Présentation de l'éditeur

Be inspired by learning how to find happiness in aging!

In the mid to later stages of life, many things change for us. At a time when we thought we should have finally reached a place of contentment and relaxation, we run headfirst into the challenge of exploring life from a new perspective and discovering a new place in the world.

This book can help you see the change for what it was meant to be: an opportunity to make your life fuller, more exhilarating, and less limiting.

You’ll find answers to the questions which arise:
• Who are we now and what should our lives look like at this stage of the game?
• What should our daily purpose become, let alone the purpose for the rest of our life?
• How do we know what to do?
• Who will understand our feelings, answer our questions, and support us in this unfamiliar voyage?

This time of life is not the end of a journey but the beginning of the journey we were previously too burdened by playing our designated roles to undertake. We have the opportunity now to find the truth of the being that we really are, a truth ignored by most people, and to find real happiness as we age.

"We realize that our true self is not reached through other people but found deep inside of us during communion with our Soul."

"12 Ways to Make Now the Best Time of Your Life: A Journey of Discovery for Women Ages 50 to 99" by Rayna Morgan is a book about living the second half of life to the fullest by moving past social and internal barriers.

This book describes ways in which women can gain a better understanding of their life journeys and themselves during this time of new perspectives and changing social roles in regards to "working, parenting, socializing."

The author recommends embracing and consulting with your Inner Guide and prodding the needs of your Soul to achieve inner peace and self-worth. Similarly, Morgan recommends time in solitude as the first steps to realizing a limitless and boundless existence. In addition, the author recommends trying new things to make this second half of life an ever better adventure than the first half.

The author's most profound point is when she writes about the need to search for the spiritual reason for our earthly lives and when she advocates for the seeking inwards instead of outwards for happiness.

The writing in this book is terrific! Morgan really understands the personal and social issues that women face in this life stage and even uses the lifespan perspective to try and explain certain behaviors and feelings, especially concerning social roles.

Morgan's book "12 Ways to Make Now the Best Time of Your Life: A Journey of Discovery for Women Ages 50 to 99" is a top-notch piece to help women reach their full potential as they transition from motherhood and full-time work.

HASH(0x8dd5642c) étoiles sur 5 Full of practical advice 16 mars 2015

Let me begin by saying that the book is actually applicable to women of my mother’s age, but I began reading it since the author approached me to write a review, and I found the introduction to the book engaging. Once I started reading it, I found that it was full of practical advice on how to live your life to the fullest in your mid and later stages of life.

As people enter their fifties, children leave homes to lead their own lives, and many often face the ‘empty nest syndrome.’ Now that they’re done doing all the things they’re supposed to do, they face the question, “Now, what am I supposed to do?” Many, as the author rightly pointed out, lead the rest of their lives repenting and reliving the past, trying to lead the rest of life in the same way they had lived until then, afraid to welcome any new change at this stage of life. They put on good show of feeling adequate, and in control, while in reality, they’re also facing the fear of not being young, and the fear of dying.

In this book, the author gives practical advice on how to make this time the best time of your life. She confidently states that if done correctly, the rest of your life can be the best of your life. So, what’s her advice? While I don’t want to reveal the whole book, I want to mention a few important statements I really liked. I agree with the author that today’s world has forgotten the experience of embracing inner solitude. There are never enough hours in a day to allow that special time of solitude. If we seek inner solitude, we seek peace.

In our adult lives, the spectrum of choices is limited to “I have to” most of the time. We draw boundaries and limits around us to become the perfect mothers, wives and daughters. We never really think about ‘what we truly want’. The author rightly says that ‘now’ is the ideal time to do the ‘Soul’ search. We always want to become perfectionists; we are our harshest critics. All of our lives, we constantly strive to achieve our lofty aspirations. We never consult our Inner Guide; rather we always worry about ‘what others are thinking about us’. ‘Now’s is that time to change that.

As the author rightly said, in the mid and later years of life, people are not burdened by the expectations of society, and have the wisdom and knowledge of all the previous years. They can, therefore, use the wisdom to their benefit and change their lives for better, exploring their Soul and doing activities that they both like and are meaningful. She even gives numerous practical suggestions on what people should be doing in their later lives to make the most of the years. I’d highly recommend this book to people of all ages.

HASH(0x8e217aec) étoiles sur 5 Wonderful for Women of any age! 17 août 2014
Par Mrs. B - Publié sur
Format: Format Kindle
As the title suggests, this book is wonderful for women of any age. This book is targeted for those women who have raised their children and find themselves looking at the second half of their lives and describes ways that women can come to understand themselves better, and embrace the various roles they have had along the way.

The author tells us to consult with our inner guide, and recommends spending time in solitude as the first step to fully realize and understand our existence. The author encourages women to try new and different things to make life after children a glorious adventure, but most importantly, the author tells us that the key to happiness is found within ourselves.

The author does a very good job writing in a way that is encouraging, and supportive, I've read a few books similar, and it feels as though the author is talking "down" to the reader, that is definitely not the case with this book. The author understands what you are facing, and that comes through in her writing.

It's a book that any woman could read and find inspiration in, but especially women from 50-99.

I highly recommend.

This is a very informative book that offers 12 ways in which a woman can change her life. I am grateful to the author for disclosing them.

The author shows how the journey through the latter half of life can be exciting and full of happiness, a time of growth and discovery. It helps a woman make her own choices about how she will age, and the role she will play in the later stages of her life. Rayna Morgan’s writing is an inspiring source of support and encouragement for any woman.

Lately I have been feeling really feeling bad about getting older. I haven't accomplished even half of what I had planned to accomplish by this time in my life. My close friend recommended 12 Ways to Make Now the Best Time of Your Life, since it helped her so much.
I can't begin to explain how much reading this book has grounded me. I am at a much better place emotionally and spiritually. I feel like I have a whole new purpose in life and I can't wait to start really *living* this time of my life, rather than dreading it.

Can't recommend highly enough!
