Praise for THE ARTIST'S WAY....

THE ARTIST’S WAY by Julia Cameron is not exclusively about writing—it is about discovering and developing the artist within whether a painter, poet, screenwriter or musician—but it is a lot about writing. If you have always wanted to pursue a creative dream, have always wanted to play and create with words or paints, this book will gently get you started and help you learn all kinds of paying-attention techniques; and that, after all, is what being an artist is all about. It’s about learning to pay attention.”
--Anne Lamott, Mademoiselle

“The premise of the book is that creativity and spirituality are the same thing, they come from the same place. And we were created to use this life to express our individuality, and that over the course of a lifetime that gets beaten out of us. [THE ARTIST’S WAY] helped me put aside my fear and not worry about whether the record would be commercial.”
--Grammy award-winning singer Kathy Mattea

“Julia Cameron brings creativity and spirituality together with the same kind of step-by-step wisdom that Edgar Cayce encouraged. The result is spiritual creativity as a consistent and nourishing part of daily life.”
--Venture Inward

“I never knew I was a visual artist until I read Julia Cameron’s THE ARTIST’S WAY.”
--Jannene Behl in Artist’s Magazine

“Julia Cameron’s landmark book THE ARTIST’S WAY helped me figure out who I really was as an adult, not so much as an artist but as a person. And award-winning journalist and poet, Cameron’s genius is that she doesn’t tell readers what they should do to achieve or who they should be—instead she creates a map for readers to start exploring these questions themselves.”
--Michael F. Melcher, Law Practice magazine

“This is not a self-help book in the normative sense. It is simply a powerful book that can challenge one to move into an entirely different state of personal expression and growth.”
--Nick Maddox, Deland Beacon

THE ARTIST’S WAY (with its companion volume THE ARTIST’S WAY MORNING PAGES JOURNAL) becomes a friend over time, not just a journal. Like a journal, it provokes spontaneous insights and solutions; beyond journaling, it establishes a process that is interactive and dynamic.”
--Theresa L. Crenshaw, M.D., San Diego Union-Tribune

“If you really want to supercharge your writing, I recommend that you get a copy of Julia Cameron’s book THE ARTIST’S WAY. I’m not a big fan of self-help books, but this book has changed my life for the better and restored my previously lagging creativity.”
--Jeffrey Bairstow, Laser Focus World

“Working with the principle that creative expression is the natural direction of life, Cameron developed a three month program to recover creativity. THE ARTIST’S WAY shows how to tap into the higher power that connects human creativity and the creative energies of the universe.”
--Mike Gossie, Scottsdale Tribune

THE ARTIST’S WAY is the seminal book on the subject of creativity and an invaluable guide to living the artistic life. Still as vital today—or perhaps even more so—than it was when it was first published in 1992, it is a provocative and inspiring work. Updated and expanded, it reframes THE ARTIST’S WAY for a new century.”
--Branches of Light

“THE ARTIST’S WAY has sold over 3 million copies since its publication in 1992. Cameron still teaches it because there is sustained demand for its thoughtful, spiritual approach to unblocking and nurturing creativity. It is, dare we say, timeless.”
--Nancy Colasurdo, FOXBusiness

Praise for VEIN OF GOLD, the second volume in the ARTIST’S WAY trilogy

“For those seeking the wellspring of creativity, this book, like its predecessor, is a solid gold diving rod.”
--PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

Like almost everyone who has read it, "The artist's way" has changed my life.
"Finding Water" is a great book, but it's less interactive than "The artist's way" and less surprising if you're expecting the same "shock" than with Cameron's first bestseller.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Book for Depression 4 décembre 2012
Par Amanda R. Smith - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
Many reviews complain that Finding Water is too downbeat and lacks the energy of the Artist's Way. Finding Water isn't for unlocking creativity, at least not _just_ for unlocking creativity. This book is for ruts, downturns, discouragement, and most especially for depression. Julia teaches us that to work ourselves out of these deep, deep ruts takes community and faith. The reviews that complain this book is too downbeat are from people ready to run with their creativity. This book is for the people who can't run, and who might even have trouble getting out of bed. Julia will help you. The tasks are small gentle steps to reconnect with others, build community, and steps in being creative again.

I love Julia Cameron. Like so many others, I'm indebted to The Artist's Way and The Vein of Gold for the "right" to call myself an artist, no matter what the world thinks or says. And also for the beautiful paradox in that - if you stop worrying about "success" and just focus on the creativity, then the world just might start taking notice of your work. Julia Cameron's books are written in a self-help form but they're also personal journals, where we follow the arc of her own creative life. Unlike The Artist's Way or The Vein of Gold, which can stand alone, Finding Water only really makes sense in the context of the other books. I wouldn't recommend anyone start out here. This is a later-in-life book, when things get a bit hard and heavy. There she is, still slogging it out in New York City trying to get producer interest in her music and theatre work. Somehow the light and lightness of Taos has gone. While she is still entreating her readers and herself to keep feeding the artist within - the morning pages, the artist's dates - and let go of the results, I feel she's a little too preoccupied with trying to get a particular set of results. Holding on to something. But that's what we do. We hold on, then we let go, then we hold on. I'll be interested to see where she's at in the next installment. I hope there is one.

I'm going through this book with a Meetup group. We're all very inspired by the reading and exercises. Julia seems a bit darker in this book than she did in The Artist's Way.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 my 2nd workbook 27 avril 2014

Art education arrived late in my life. Feeling positive about my work, or even my intention to continue pursuing classes needed support. Julia Cameron;s first workbook, The Artist's Way was a valuable support during the years of pursuing my 'artist's life'.
Her emphasis on finding my voice within complimented a similar path I was pursuing. I have recommended her workbooks many times to fellow artists. Now I am 84 and look back with pleasure at the body of work thus far, and surprised often at what these paintings say to me. I've moved from an area where I did the majority of paintings and have been having a difficult time getting enthusiastic/stabilized and eager to paint again. Hence, my purchase of Finding Water.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 best of Julia's books... 1 janvier 2014

Maybe it is where I am at this point in my life, but after years of working with Julia Cameron's books and hosting an Artist Way virtual group on FB, I was gratefully surprised to discover that FINDING WATER provided a clearer vision of how to move forward as a budding artist. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in developing creative courage and stepping forward with their own creative efforts.
