Présentation de l'éditeur

For more than 400 years, the secret of the golf swing has been one of the most fascinating and frustrating mysteries known to mankind. Despite remarkable advances in golf club technology, golf instruction, and golf course conditioning, the average golfer's handicap hasn't changed in the past 30 years. Not coincidentally, the nation as a whole is becoming less healthy due to the sedentary lifestyle that is harming our bodies at an alarming rate. We are then taking our dysfunctional bodies to the golf course.

Roger Fredericks, a leading golf instructor and golf fitness pioneer who has worked with the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Arnold Palmer, takes readers on a step-by-step journey to explain precisely why golfers have a hard time improving and more importantly, what to do about it. In The Flexible Golf Swing, he lays out his commonsense approach and explains in detail the true fundamentals of the golf swing, and precisely how the mechanics are merely symptoms of how a body functions.

I am a single digit handicapper, but since hitting 50, I have started to lose distance in my golf game. I soon realized that it was 'old age creep' and loss of flexibility. "Gasp!" Watch most older men hit the ball. They are stiff as boards and lunge rather than swing. After fighting this for a year, I started stretching. I bought Fredericks' DVD. This book is the companion to that DVD. Either will suffice. I kind of like the book better because it is easier to reference when you want to go back and look at a particular exercise.
It is amazing just how stiff you can become in middle age, while trying to earn a living.

After beginning a mild stretching program, I have added 10+ yards to my drive and a good 5 yards to each iron. I also am hitting the ball more solidly with less effort. A bigger turn and looser arms will just generate more clubhead speed. I still am not that flexible and look forward to continuing to improve. Actually, I am playing the best golf of my life. I hated that I was moving forward a tee box, now I am back where I want to be.

I've been using this for 3 months now, I'm 71, and have seen remarkable range increase in my flexibility. I've gained a club length on all my shots. My drives now average 245 up from 225 before I started using the book. I'm now moving up to the intermediate level of exercises so hope to see even more distance and accuracy gains in the future.

Roger's basic premise is "golf is a body motion". You must have your body in condition & flexible enough to allow the motion to take place.I am 65 and playing golf and hitting the golf ball as far as I did in my 30's. My handicap has dropped 4 strokes since I read the book. More importantly, the flexibity exercises he recommends have enhanced my quality of life overall. That is well worth the purchase price. Get this book...remember it takes time to become more flexible.

I have been plagued by lack of flexibility all my life. Roger Fredericks went through wrist and hip surgery and stretching changed his life. This book is slowly changing mine. The flexibility programs will change the way you walk and sit and exercise whether you are a golfer or not.

I have always attempted to do stretching with little improvement. This book explains and instructs stretching in a way that is easy to understand and follow. It teaches the importance of breathing while stretching and the order of which stretch exercises to follow. There are also specific stretches to combat common faults made by many golfers both young and old. I really like how Roger gets into the reasons behind stretching and why specific stretches will improve a golf swing. The book dispels many myths of stretching and flexibility as well.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their golf swing or even just their posture and everyday well-being.

Author does a good job of diagnosing your swing problems based on body issues and suggesting specific stretches as solutions. The illustrations and descriptions of each stretch are crystal clear so you maximize your results and there is little chance of doing them incorrectly or hurting yourself.
