Greed. Dark magic. Murder. ... Cool.

Award-winning author David C. Cassidy dares you to light up a candle and curl up in your favorite reading chair on a cold, blustery night. Take in the sounds, the smells, the sensation of utter terror, as you weather a journey into the darkest side of the human psyche. In this chilling tale of supernatural horror where Stephen King meets The Twilight Zone, nothing is ever as it seems—and nothing can prepare you for the evil that lurks in the hearts of men. Eerie and sinister, Fosgate's Game is a haunting tale of greed, dark magic, and murder.

IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY KNIGHT.

For Chadwick Harlow, a peaceful, easy-going Englishman, after-dinner drinks with his business partner—a ruthless, hard-edged hunter—is a weekly affair. But when casual conversation takes a mysterious and menacing turn into the supernatural, his wits are put to the test in a deadly challenge. Clinging to life but praying for death, Chadwick must summon the will to survive, before all is lost in a terrifying descent into madness.

Categories: horror novels, horror books, scary novels, scary books, supernatural fiction, supernatural mystery, supernatural thrillers.

Biographie de l'auteur

Award-winning author David C. Cassidy is the twisted mind behind several best-selling novels of horror and suspense, including The Dark, Velvet Rain, and Fosgate's Game. An author, photographer, and graphic designer--and a half-decent juggler--he spends his writing life creating dark and touching stories where Bad Things Happen To Good People. Raised by wolves, he grew up with a love of nature, music, science, and history, with thrillers and horror novels feeding the dark side of his seriously disturbed imagination. He talks to his characters, talks often, and most times they listen. But the real fun starts when they tell him to take a hike, and they Open That Door anyway. Idiots. David lives in Ontario, Canada. From Mozart to Vivaldi, classic jazz to classic rock, he feels naked without his iPod. Suffering from MAD--Multiple Activity Disorder--he divides his time between writing and blogging, photography and Photoshop, reading and rollerblading. An avid amateur astronomer, he loves the night sky, chasing the stars with his telescope. Sometimes he eats. 5.0 étoiles sur 5 Excellent Read 19 août 2015

It's a rare treat to pick up a book by an author unknown to you and be immediately drawn into the world he creates. FOSGATE'S GAME was a pleasure to read. Chadwick and Fosgate are perfectly matched to play this macabre game of supernatural chess. Fosgate is cold and calculating, and makes no excuses for his brutality when it comes to building his business empire. Chadwick is reluctantly drawn into Fosgate's vicious plans and is unable to extricate himself until he finds a very creative (and satisfying) way to draw the game to a close.

Great characters, great story, great writing. Highly recommended.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Deadly Game of Chess 26 octobre 2015

One of the the genres of horror I love involves mansion houses, violent storms and cursed objects. They usually involve a small cast of people in a contest against one another. You have the master who is a dangerous hunter. The other is the innocent who is drawn into the situation and forced to swim through dark waters. A contest of wills. The skillful writer keeps the tension going without ever letting it down. Evil versus the good which finds itself stressed to the breaking point. Throw in forces, powerful and potent. David Cassidy has written a novella that will keep you reading and guessing. Though honestly, I was one step of the story at the end, just me. The novella length is a perfect length and not a long novel feeling stretched out.
For those who like the writings of the Old Masters of horror will like the laid back quality in the writing leading to the final battle. It's nice to know the Old ways have not disappeared.

I enjoyed this book. The premise kept me engaged and I looked forward to the ending. I would have given 4 stars but it seemed as if the book was jumping all over the place from one storyline to another. For me,it was hard to keep up with.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Very effective and well written horror - pulls you right in. 21 janvier 2016

If you are looking for an effective horror novella, look no further. Fosgate ' s Game is a well written horror short that has rich imagery, great characters and yet, much like Lovecraft, leaves just enough to your imagination to really allow your brain to fill in the small details.
I really enjoyed this story, and the build up of horror as you read it. The writing and the details are superb. In the beginning, without over describing, the reader is pulled into the horror that Chadwick feels at the storm. There is some vibrant writing choices that just add to the over all feel of this story.

I was given a free copy to read in exchange for my honest review

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Thrilling narrative, superb imagery 24 mai 2013

Fostgate's Game. A perfect stormy night. A crackling fire. Two chess players at odds with each other. All's fair in chess and war. A rigged game? Or a descent into madness? Much like Velvet Rain, Mr. Cassidy's first novel, Fosgate's Game offers a thrilling narrative, a superb imagery of words to canvas. Psychologically complex, it is a glimpse into the occult, imaginatively written, and totally entertaining.
