Jurgen Brunner

Jurgen Brunner is currently working as a game designer and an indie developer in Austria and Germany. You can definitely call him a video game enthusiast, which he has been since the 1980s. Remembering the first gaming sessions on a friend's Amiga 500, he tries to stay as connected as possible to the main goal of every game: fun! He studied game design and music at the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg, and received his degree in 2010 with the diploma thesis "Jump 'n' Run Evolution". While working as a researcher at the Pervasive experience lab (P.e.l.s) in his former university, he had the privilege of exploring augmented reality and pervasive games as well as Kinect hacks. Jurgen made his way to the professional gaming industry as a game and level designer in 2012. Besides this, he also works on his own indie games. His love and passion for retro graphics, music, and art can be experienced in every new game and in every new song. The greatest success of his indie career so far might be the release of the award winning game Pitiri 1977 on Steam in 2014. Besides working on games, he is also a passionate musician. As well as playing six instruments, Jurgen still tries to spend every free minute on music and sound design, or with his band SaberRider.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I completely disagree with the notion that this book is for beginners. Don't get me wrong: A lot of the tutorials (even official ones) that you'll find online for Clickteam Fusion are unnecessarily confusing (usually due to insufficient explanations for some steps), but this book takes this confusion to a whole other level. The author jumps around between objects far too frequently and often seems to refer to the incorrect object(s) at times. He even refers to objects by the incorrect names at times, which is even worse when you consider how similar the names of different objects with similar uses can be in Clickteam Fusion. If you're really persistent, then you may be able to gradually piece things together through the screenshots to gauge where you should be at any given point on a project, but I consider the explanations in this book to be absolutely horrendous.

i wish it were more in depth and taught you how to use the app more fully... fusion is definitely powerful enough for general purpose application development but it's really hard to figure out how to do that when even books on the app are this superficial.

Practical Book, helps with the foundation of Fusion. Easy to follow guide. Would need some extended activities to really define Fusion and its uses. Unfortunatly, Fusion 2.0 is no longer supported on clickteam, they do have related articles, tutorials, and Nivram's sight is about the best you will have for learning scripts of any nature, plus a few other sites. Fusion 2.5 is now the mainstream and pretty difficult to get a response on forums for 2.0. This will, however, make a great stepping stone for learning Fusion.

I find this book to be quite convoluted and unclear in comparison to numerous tutorials you can find on youtube for free. Honestly, if it weren't for those online tutorials, I would not be able to follow this book as it can be extremely unclear what the author is speaking about at certain instances.

This book is very good for both new and intermediate users of Clickteam Fusion 2.5

It covers the basic usage and then goes into some more advanced issues to get users to the next level of game development.
If you have seen some of authors game creations like Pitiri 1977 -- [...]
You know he is an expert user of the tool.
