Présentation de l'éditeur

DELUXE EDITION features bonus material and chapter, plus a sneak peek of TAKING SOMETHING out now!

Here's the deal... I learned a long time ago that sometimes you have to use what you've got to make things happen. What I happen to have is a pretty smile, long legs and the ability to make men believe anything I say. Before you get on your high horse and start judging me, can you honestly say you've never batted your lashes at some guy for a free drink at the bar? That's what I thought.

Keep that in mind as I tell you my story of how I took it one step further. My story of lies, deceit, manipulation and love. Yeah, love. Believe me, it fits. Especially, when you factor in Nick and Tucker – one had my heart and the other one wanted it all for himself. Which one? Well, I can't tell you that. It would defeat the purpose of the story. If I'm going to fill you in about me, Lila Garrison, and my life as a con artist you're going to need to know all the facts, including the ones about the two guys who made me want to give up the life of fancy clothes, expensive jewelry, fast cars and easy money. Because sometimes, one person can give you something that's more valuable than all of that.

If you're still interested, stick around. Just remember, I'm pretty good at convincing people to do what I want, so if by the end of this whole thing you feel worked over, don't say I didn't warn you.

Give me something...Give me some more Tucker Kline!

"I'm sorry for being an a** and for loving you in a way that doesn't make sense."

That one quote pretty much sums up everything Nick. The story starts with Nick and Lila finishing up a con. That's what they do. They both left home at a young age and now Nick finds the mark and Lila works the con. Problem is, Lila has fallen for Nick and she's ready to leave the game. Nick persuades Lila to work one more con for him by telling her a bunch of lies. LIES! Little does Lila know that Nick wants her to work a con that's going to lead her straight into the arms of Tucker Kline. Lila knows almost immediately that she's in over her head with Tucker, but Nick is trying to keep Lila on his side of the court. As the story goes on, more lies are uncovered. LIES! They all make mistakes and have regrets...

"And I would have never pretended that the one night I spent with you wasn't the best night of my life."

I was so up and down throughout this book. One minute I couldn’t stand Nick and then the next minute he was charming me. When Tucker came into the picture, it was love at first read! I never stopped loving him, but sometimes Nick would sneak up on me and confuse the hell out of me. Eventually with Nick I was just like....whatever! Trust me when I say, you will be too! I was somewhere on the corner of DONE and GO TO HELL. When his feelings got hurt, I was screaming…I. DO. NOT. CARE.

* Talk to the hand jerk!* (but I still kinda love you....)

Overall, I really liked Lila's story. It was a very fast paced and fun read. There were times that I wish there was a little more build up. Maybe a little more insight into Nick's and Lila's past. Then again, that may have taken away from the fast paced nature of the story, which I liked. There was plenty of sweet and funny and Tucker to keep me entertained. Sweetest ending ever! Thank you Elizabeth Lee for that ending, from the bottom of my heart! <3

I will get right to the point. I thought that due to the description of this book that it was gonna have so much sex appeal and a great story line!!! It fell FLAT! She is a con artist who cons many men out of money using her beauty and charm but never sleeps with any of them and has a huge infatuation with her partner in crime who treats her like dirt. Maybe it was too fustrating to me.
*Spoiler Alert*
The main character finally sleeps with her love interest at 65% point in the book and there is nothing! No detail just a one liner! All that build up for nothing. It may be my fault because I must of not realized it was YA all the way! I figured with such a great story line it would of had more!

From the cover of the book, to the characters (yes, even when they were being will know who I am talking about when you get to it), to the plot, to the cheesy pickup lines, I just FLOVED it ALL!! Can you tell that I am enthusiastic about this book?!?

First, I want to let you know that "Give Me Something," is New Adult. It is not all sex. I don't want anyone to be disappointed if that is what you are looking for here. However, you will get a fantastically unique story with just the right amount of steaminess.

Lila "Rae" Harrison, what can I say, I loved her from the start. She is a 20 year old con artist and it takes a pretty tough cookie to run scams on men to take their money. She has been running scams for years. And just like with any con artist do they truly ever act alone? That is when you get introduced to Nick Dammery. Lila's partner in crime, best friend, and the one she thinks she loves. They met when they were fifteen when they both were assigned to the same community service program. Um...match made in heaven?? I think not but then again, just shall see.

Nick Dammery, he is the resident "Bad Boy." Does anything else truly need to be said? Don't we all love them...even when they are jerks? The jerkier the better, no? Oh and did I mention that he is tatted up...even better, right? I was totally swooning over him during this read...well, until that one part when that happened (no spoilers here). :-)

And the final triangle to this story, Tucker Kline. He is the next and "final" target in their scamming business. But, he is different from the rest of the marks in their scams. He is in his 20s just like them and quite the hottie. And he is oh so swoon worthy sweet to Lila, total boyfriend material. But, he does have a past...quite a dirty little slut he turns out to be. But as was said in the book, he came from a small town, and what else is there to do in a small town?

I was quite envious of Lila throughout this book. This is one love triangle that I would totally like to be a part of...well, if I lived in fictional wonderland, wasn't married, and a tad younger. LOL! A girl can dream, right??? I would be just as conflicted with making a decision as she was in this book.

Well, considering how I started off this review I think you could guess that I would give this book no less than 5 stars. Strong women in books are definitely a selling point for me so obviously I was sold on this book from the very beginning. Add in two hot men with a love triangle and I am owned by the book. And guess what, there will be another book in the series, Taking Something! YAY!!! CAN YOU FEEL MY EXCITEMENT??? I have an idea of whose story it might be but that would give you the answers as to what happens in this book and I ain't spoiling that for you. Please run and go grab this book. I hope you love it just as much as I did.

Oh, and if you read "Shattered" first, see if you recognize any of the characters from that book in this book. You know, the little town of Harrington is the country town in both books.

HASH(0x901c7b1c) étoiles sur 5 Lacks depth. 12 mars 2013

Give me something is a good read, but lacked depth. It was a cool story line and I kept waiting for something OMG worthy to happen but it never did. I spent the first half of the book wishing that Lila wouldn't end up with either guy. They just didn't have anything swoon worthy about them. That changed midway through the book but still lacked depth. It's a quick easy read but if you like books that MAKE you feel what the characters are feeling and suck you completely in, this isn't it. I'm glad a read it but I won't be rereading it anytime soon.

I liked the premise of this book, but the execution fell kind of flat.
Spoiler Alert: Lila Rea, con artist extraordinaire, somehow manages to con “bad guys” out of money (at one point she managed to get enough cash/jewelry/gifts from a “mark” to pawn them for $32k) all without sleeping with them. Not that I wanted the main character to go around sleeping with a bunch of sleazy old men, but I find it hard to believe she managed to make all of this money and the entire time she only slept with 1 person. Enter her partner, Nick Dammery. All around bad boy/DJ; covered in tattoos and acting like he needs to be on meds; it’s almost like he has borderline personality disorder with the way he don’t care about anyone or anything. Except for Lila. Or so he says; you wouldn’t be able to tell from the way he treats her.
Their next mark: Tucker Kline, new CEO of Kline Implements, frat boy, rich kid. When his character is first introduced, he is an egotistical jock/frat boy who has all the women swooning over him spouting goofy one-liners and practically ordering Lila to date him (“When you're my girl I'll never treat you like that.”; “We're going out tonight. I'll pick you up at six.”- do guys really talk like that?).
Needless to say, conniving Lila makes Tucker fall for her (he’s actually kind of endearing after his first few over the top appearances), because Nick needs her to help him obtain $40k to pay back a bad gambling debt. Being the hot for Nick, easy to manipulate person she is, Lila agrees to “one more con”. She spends at least 60% of the book going back and forth on who to trust before she finally realizes that Nick is not as great as she’s made him out to be (Really? I could see him for what he was in the first chapter).
But wait! Just when you think Nick is the greatest jerk to walk the face of the planet, Lila finds out some shocking information that makes her think maybe loving him isn’t a great mistake.
Somehow through the entire book Lila only sleeps with two people (and they are fairly PG-13 sessions as far as wording and description goes), and she finally grows a back bone as far as Nick is concerned, and changes her con artist ways for the sake of love. Like I said, it’s an ok book, it just could have used a little more…something.
