Présentation de l'éditeur

Book 3, a continuation of the Tom Gray series.

A year after he was declared dead and began living under an assumed name in the Philippines, Tom Gray wants his life back…

Along with two ex-army buddies and a woman he rescued from terrorists, Gray attempts to make his way home to the UK to clear his name: no easy feat when members of the British government want to kill Gray and his loyal friends, and the long clandestine journey home on a container ship gives Gray’s nemesis, James Farrar, the time to hatch a plot to intercept him.

In Gray Redemption, the third book in the popular and action-packed series that began with Gray Justice, the hunted and the hunters converge. Tom Gray’s only hope is to seek the help of an old adversary and pray he still believes in justice.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Please oh Please don't fall for silly plot denouements 8 janvier 2013

I have just read the three parts of this trilogy and so will treat them as a whole. The first is excellent with good character development and open to twists and turns and not too much silly, unnecessary, and unbelievable violence. The second part moved to the Philippines which started to strain credulity and get a little silly with people Rambo style handling mini guns without stands and the like. By the time we get to the third book character development has vanished and rather contrived plot devices introduced and a rather tired conclusion developed in which is all too easy, which makes it seem the author was a bit sick of the book as well.

The other issue is the arbitrarily introduced character never to be seen again. The main character who is seen to be a moral and upright person (despite some brutal and uncriticised vigilante tendencies) simply leaves his live-in partner who is never to be contacted again (or even mentioned in the book again), and it seems this is seen to be moral upright behaviour. There is an excess of violence that seems to serve a prurient purpose rather than to expand the plot. There is a graphic rape scene in the first novel by and to peripheral characters, which is not followed up in any way, and the victim (a goodie MI5 type) simply vanishes from the plot.

The introduction of Al Qaeda has little to do with the plot of any of the three books but seems solely as a sales gimmick. The Al Qaeda sub-plot in each is just silly.

I hope from this trilogy the author learns some things in the art of good thriller writing s the first part is good and tight despite the issue raised above. Tight plots, a good character development, and attention to detail, can get you far and also avoid unnecessary padding, such as flights hitting turbulence, unless it matters.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Will Tom Gray be redeemed? 11 janvier 2013
Par John Podlaski, author of Cherries - A Vietnam War Novel - Publié sur Amazon.com

Tom Gray finally realizes that the British Government is trying to kill him and his former crew who had helped him in book #1. It is now a year later - Tom Gray, a woman he rescues from the terrorist group's jungle prison, and two former team members successfully escape the trap set for them in the Philippines. They are safe for now and aboard a container ship en-route to Africa, eventually returning them all to London via other modes of transportation. Tom learns of the killing of two of his former team members - the events seemingly normal under the circumstances and left unquestioned. Soon they come to the conclusion that the entire team is targeted for elimination by the government. Little do they know that others are also interested in both killing and saving them upon their arrival in Africa.

The young terrorist mastermind, who is first introduced in book #1 - causing the explosion at the end, and then again in book #2 supporting the Muslim group and plans the attack on the American Army base in the Philippines. Now in book #3, he is now plotting a diabolical attack against Britain. This book doesn't spend too much time with those on the container ship. Instead, the focus is more upon Tom's former surviving two team members, who are warned by Tom in book #2 to go into hiding without much explanation, the government director tasked with killing the entire team, his hired assassins, and a different arm of the government who has learned the truth and is trying to save them all.

Who wins the race to London? Who will survive? Who will gain redemption? The last quarter of the book makes putting it down very difficult as the writer gathers all the loose ends together for a final confrontation. Although this is supposed to be the last book in the trilogy, there are some things left open ended - leaving a slight hint for another installment.

Highly recommended read. Great Job Alan McDermott!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Good ending to a brilliant trilogy 20 janvier 2013
Par Cinta Garcia de la Rosa - Publié sur Amazon.com

Having read the other two books in the trilogy and having loved them, I was really looking forward to reading the last book in the series. After discovering that the British Government wants Tom Gray dead, he will try everything in order to go back to his country and clean his name. But things won't be so easy... Will Tom and his partners be able to survive in what seems to be a soulless hunt? Tom will have to face rough times, confronting different dangers in his way.

Clever plot and great characters, but since it was the last book in the trilogy, I got a bit confused with the lot of characters involved in this book. However, once you get familiar with who is who, the story flows in a swift way. It is a thriller that will keep you reading and forgetting about doing other things, because you just need to know what will happen next, and next, and next.

The only thing I didn't like is that I found some typos and the ending was kind of abrupt. When I reached the ending of the book I would have liked to see a bit more of what happens.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Absolutely brilliant! 24 décembre 2012

This is the exciting denoument of the Gray Trilogy which features ex-SAS man Tom Gray and his personal crusade to tackle injustice, which we followed in Gray Justice and Gray Resurrection. He and his surviving friends are attempting to return to England where people in the heart of the government, want the world to believe he is dead. There is a sub-plot intriguingly twisted around this, which involves terrorism and a virus which can affect humanity genetically in an unexpected way. You have to read on!

Alan McDermott writes a great thriller and at times this book became almost nail-bitingly exciting. The books definitely have to be read in order because we get to know the characters in the earlier books and the start of this one builds up the plot and thickens the intrigue, rather than being character driven. As the first book began with the unpunished death of his young son, it was lovely to find Tom reminiscing about him at the end - and what a very satisfying ending it was... with just a little bit of a hanging thread. Absolutely brilliant!

McDermott has created an interesting and compelling character in Thomas Gray, and to stop the journey with this book would be awful. Lots of stories and new characters left in Mr. Gray. Let's hope....
