I think the author gets very confused during the nutrition part, mixing up high and low GI foods. You don't want to follow this advice and get fat - Just saying. The HIIT part could have been explained better too.

In the past I’ve been one of those people who joins a gym, goes for a while and then gradually stops going. I have been a shift worker for years and so I can usually justify my occasional workouts because I don’t have the time. After reading HIIT I feel inspired to try again. Basically the methods in HIIT point to working out more efficiently and for less time, which suits my lifestyle. At first I was cautious because some reviews have been negative but straight away the introduction advised me that HIIT has been revised since those reviews, and this encouraged me to buy the book. I had heard Australian Athletes speak about the ‘Fartlek method’ and it’s effectiveness before. HIIT delves even deeper into high intensity training with informative diagrams, nutritional information and helpful tips. I hadn’t thought about some of this stuff since I was in high school! HIIT is practical too with ‘how to’ exercise pictures and links to video examples. As I get older I want better endurance, which is why I went looking for a book like this. It’s not a magic pill. Getting a better body takes time but this is a great read and will likely inspire you to start a HIIT program today.

While I wasn't specifically searching for a book on HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), it took a chance on it. And it's been great for me.

First of all, it's a great read. It's written in such a manner that even non-native English speaking people, such as myself, can easily consume the book without. And where there are specific words in the book, the author has put clickable links on them that point you straight to their explanation at the end of the book.

I've started reading it and about 1,5 hours later (I read relatively fast) I had devoured the entire book. The book isn't too short or long, but just about the right size. Given it's low price, you actually get a great amount of information and a lot of bang for your buck.

Personally, I've applied both the nutritional advice (both the tips on what kind of nutrition as the exemplary meal plan in the book) and the so called "10-20-30"-program described in the book. I've applied this specifically to running and cardio exercises (I am using the bicycle crunch as explained in the book). The sections "Sample Cardio Workouts" and "Cross Training Workouts" were of great value to implement this in my personal case. I do have to confess I didn't apply all of the techniques in this publication, as I'm not the fittest guy around just yet. But I guess, using this book, this will gradually change over time.

Since I only started using the HIIT technique only recently (and the book indicates a minimum of 14 days to implement effects), I don't have any major weight loss (except for 0.5 kilo in just a couple of days) or increased muscle strength, but I certainly do feel a little bit fitter already. So endurance-wise, I certainly already feel a difference. I've already given a buddy the advice to check this book out. And you should too.

It really appealed to me that I could get fit in a 20 minute workout. I liked how there was a diet and exercise plan as well. It was all very well presented and convincing. I think I understood everything perfectly and I really did want to do it. But I think I was hoping high intensity workout would be a little less intense.

Granted I haven’t actually tried it, but just thinking about quick bursts of this level of energy has me tired.

I'm going to start slower by following the nutrition guide and maybe after I knock off a few pounds, it won’t seem so daunting.
