Air holes very very tiny and not many.
Literally the size of a pinhole. A few the hole hadn't gone all the way through the plastic.
My hamsters sleep with their head out of the den or not at all. Ok if in bin cage, but if attached to tubes not enough air sadly.
Be careful especially if your house is over 70 degrees and attached to tunnels
I am not mechanically inclined but I have set up things on my own even without instruction.
This is a 2 in set up, for the connection lid. I have bought several of them and some are easier to connect the two top cover pieces then others. The botton slides in pretty easy when lined up.
Fairly easy to clean.
My one frustration is that since the top slides back to blick escape when opened, easy to clean bottom andx 1 top piece but second half of top piece and opening is blocked from being able to be cleaned. It gets smelly with one of my winter dwarfs that is very chunky.
Usually I use the dens in a bin cage but recently bought a couple of habitrail cages. Will see how it goes in cleaning with its being connected.
So far I hate the connectors. Place them on the den and rotate to lock but then when place on cage opening must also turn to lock except that unlocks the connection to the den. A struggle to get them to lock on both ends. I noticed on YouTube others struggling a bit with this. But for me it tends to be a battle each time with the new cages. Not something I want to deal with taking apart weekly to clean. Will see how weekly cleaning goes without disconnecting to clean.
Blue travel den is quite nice sised, more than double the green. Lid was much worse in getting connected. It was the first piece that goes on. The darker blue piece. Never could get it to fully close. Since had only used it inside bin cage was ok. But can't connect to cages with its not closing fully. The one I got came with the travel pack set and it looked like it had been opened and the white bottom part was cracked. Had to replace. Adventure pack didn't include any instructions at all.
Habitrail online only had some not helpful pictures. Had to go to YouTube to figure out the first top piece.
The green den $5.99 - wanted 2 more and paid $8.99 now price few days later back tob $5.99. Had thought price just higher from last year. Should have waited!
After a couple weeks of having this den, i noticed some hair loss. I took her to the vet and they said she had a skin infection. When we were discussing the cage and i was showing the veterinarian pictures of her enclosure to try to figure out what would cause it, i mentioned the condensation in her den and we determined the skin infection COULD be a type of rash from tnt moisture in there. She recommended taking out the den, but i explained how stressed she got when i did. The vet recommended making larger air holes which i did with a standard drill then spent about an hour or so carefully filing the edges of the holes until they were smooth and rounded to prevent injury to her. Since doing that, her bedding has stayed completely dry and there has been 0 condensation in the den.
This den would be absolutely AMAZING with the size and the removable bottom to clean easily and would have gotten 5 stars from me if the ventilation was better.
As far as the other tubes, cubes and elbows go, i love the twist locks that correct them. Much easier to disconnect than the crittertrail tubes and they seem more secure.
These are a nice size, especially for my Syrian but the downside, they come apart at the middle seams too easy. I think they are meant to come apart for easy cleaning purposes but even as you are trying to turn the lock to attatch it too another tube, the seams are separating. Wish it locked together better.
