Description du produit

Revue de presse

This is a very funny book (Sunday Telegraph)

...intentionally or otherwise, this is hilarious. (Zoo Magazine)

Présentation de l'éditeur

A collection of hilarious and compelling insights and anecdotes, diary entries, poems, 'true' facts and cartoons on travel from Karl Pilkington, unlikely star of the Ricky Gervais Show, the world's most successful podcast - now in kindle format.

This is the travel book for people who don't particularly like travelling, it's Karl Pilkington, star of The Ricky Gervais Podcast Show, with a suitcase, occasionally with his passport, more often with a bemused suspicion of anything vaguely exotic, and an observant eye for the disappointments, tedium, general weirdness and absurdities of being a tourist abroad and at home. From staring at Mount Vesuvius in case it erupts and the horrors of a Lanzarote nudist beach to the curiosities to be seen in the world's weirdest museum.

Told with his inimitable deadpan humour, Pilkington's stories are interspersed with fond reflections on life back in England, from Salford joy riders to what his girlfriend's mum and dad have for dinner on a Thursday (it's chops and veg. in case you're wondering).

There are some things funny, but it's not hilarious as I could thought. Shame.
I didn't really know that guy but, I'm a huge Ricky Gervais' fan so... Whatever, I can still pratice my slang and my english with Mr KP ;)

I love everything about the Ricky Gervais show and have heard all the podcasts and the "guide to's" and have seen An Idiot Abroad. Though I love Steve and Ricky, I must say that the musings of Karl make my day. Ricky seems to hate it when people call Karl a genius (and he clearly is not) but I would never say that this man is stupid. I think he is very observant and has a sincerely simple way of seeing the world. If you want to read this book don't expect Faulkner or even Steve Martin- Pilkington is an odd bird but even the most mundane parts of his world are amusing and oddly interesting.

Truly one of the funniest men, his books and podcasts are hilarious and his outlook on life, though pretty downcast is funny and in so many ways true. If you've ever seen the show An Idiot Abroad then you'll love his books. His travel experiences are never pleasant but they are relatable and leave you thinking "exactly!!"

I love the trio of Ricky, Steve, and Karl so when I found out that Karl had a few books out I had to get them as well. This book was hilarious. I love Karl's views on ordinary things and to be honest I agree with quite a bit of them. In this book he explains all about his travels and the various things he's encountered (pre-An Idiot Abroad).

I really wish I could get others to read his books. I've told several members of my family about Karl, Ricky, and Steve and nobody has interest for some reason. Maybe its because they prefer American humor or something. Whatever, their loss.

Karl is awesome. I'm about to start his new book "The Moaning of Life" and I look forward to many more books from Karl.

I read this in one or two sittings, and laughed my way through all of Karl's largely unremarkable vacation stories. He writes very much (exactly) how he speaks, and as I expected, his vacations consist largely of sitting around and moaning. There's a bunch of hand drawn illustrations he's done as well, including pages of comics.

Karl is a wonder. If you like An Idiot Abroad and The Moaning of Life, you'll love this book.

If you have ever heard the Ricky Gervais podcasts, seen an Idiot Abroad, or read one of Karl's other books, you know what you are getting: pure, unadulterated Karl Pilkington. His mind works in such a clever and sometimes foolish way that I find him both bold yet simple and hilarious. In fact, you might find yourself agreeing with Karl's unique perspectives! I'm not sure if that should be troubling. Either way, Karl is a good Englishman, an honest guy, and a genuinely unique thinker. Get ready to laugh and shake your head. Karl's words are always worth the money.

Check out Karl's other fine works: Karlology, An Idiot Abroad, and the new one: The Moaning of Life. Can't wait for that one!
