Présentation de l'éditeur

New York Times and USA TODAY Bestselling author of Science Fiction, Urban Fantasy, and Paranormal Romance brings another action, adventure, and suspense-filled story to transport readers out of this world.
Ha’ven Ha’darra is the Crown Prince of the Curizans, an advanced species known for their technology. They may not have the power to shift like the Valdier or the Sarafin but they have hidden powers of their own that they guard. Not even his best friends, Creon Reykill of the Valdier or Vox d’Rojah of the Sarafin, are aware of the powers he holds within his deadly frame.
Ha’ven is happy to help out his Valdier friend when he calls. There are only two things that satisfy the restlessness inside him – a good fight and an even better evening with a hot, willing female. He has no desire to settle down like his two friends have. He enjoys having his freedom and the wide sample of females at his disposal.
All of that changes when he catches a glimpse of the delicate beauty who looks through him as if he doesn’t even exist. His blood calls to her, his magic aches to meld with hers, but she blocks his every advance.
Emma Watson’s life was perfect. Her love for music and dance let her escape the overwhelming shyness that she suffered from all her life. When she is invited to travel with a group to promote music and dance for children in South America, she believes it is the perfect chance to discover who she can really be. Everything changes when she is kidnapped by a powerful drug lord. Beaten and forced to watch the torture of other women, she withdrawals into the world she feels safest – the one inside herself.

When she is rescued by creatures not of this world, they heal her physical wounds but cannot touch the ones deep inside her. She has given up on ever returning to her world and has little hope for the future. That is why she does not understand why one aggravating male suddenly won’t leave her alone. She wants nothing to do with men! They cause nothing but heartache and pain. She had been on the receiving end of their fists enough to know that! Why would she want one that could crush her with one hand?
No woman has ever turned Ha’ven Ha’darra down and he isn’t about to accept his mate doing it. He will show her that not all men are the same, even if he has to kidnap her and take her to his world to do it. He plans to show her the power she has hidden deep inside her and open her heart to the love he has in his.
Now, he just has a few extra problems to overcome. Her Valdier protectors have given him six months to change her mind about wanting to return to them, a traitor is trying to kill them both, and they have crashed on a remote moon.
Can he unlock her magic in time to save their love or will the traitor, determined to kill them, destroy her before he can?

Once again, really worth the wait!!
I live Ha'ven, how he went from wanting nothing to do with love and Earth women to the big alpha male pursuing and protecting his mate.
His magic and darkness were very interesting. We finally got to know more about the Curizan and their ability. I would have like to read more about their planet and culture!! In the next book hopefully.
As for Emma, she came from very far and became a great character. You cannot help but feel deeply for her and what she has been through. But despite all of it, she grows stronger after every events. Could have been a bit more developed and longer evolution but it still worked. But she is not as head strong as the usual heroin. A bit sad I think but maybe the change was needed to add diversity.

I loved the ending of the book. There is going to be a hell to pay for Adalar I think. Can't wait to read it!!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 This is surprisingly sweet..... 23 novembre 2013

I loved it! I love the world that Ms. Smith has created. It was 100% believable and felt very real. The story is so good that, romance aside, it is worth the investment of your time and money. This is a stand alone book and you don't have to read the Dragon Lords of Valdier series or Choosing Riley in order to enjoy this, though I recommend it as you will get "more" out of the story. I've read almost all the books by SE Smith and I found this one to be quite different in that it was actually a tender and sweet romance rather than a HOT romance.

Emma is a sweet human girl suffering from PTSD due to a horrific experience on Earth. She has closed down and no longer talks, eats very little and has lost the will to live. I was very moved by Ms. Smith's portrayal of her and thought Emma's withdrawal was 100% realistic. Ha'ven is a powerful Curzian prince and a total alpha male. His people have the power to manipulate energy (loved it!) and he can see aura's. When he walks into a dining room on the planet Valdier, his energy meshes with Emma's and he knows he found his mate. He immediately wants to claim her but he quickly realizes something is very wrong with her. Upon this realization, Ha'ven begins to carefully court Emma - trying to give her time to get to know him and trust him. I loved this part of the book - alot! I really appreciated that Ms. Smith gave us, the reader, the TIME to understand the magnitude of Emma's pain AND the time for the foundation of a relationship to be built. (I hate it when author's rush the "mating".) He soon has to leave Emma for a week and upon his return he kidnaps her. (LOVED IT!)

Once on board his ship, Emma has a nasty flashback and her terror was so gripping and poignant that it leaped off the page! I was 100% there. I thought her struggle to deal with her pain was very realistic. Now for the bad part - they mate right after this. Urgh! I really, really, REALLY thought it happened much too quickly considering she had just had a pretty dang traumatic flashback. Their mating at that time felt like a let down, and didn't seem realistic. I didn't like the quick transition from traumatized Emma to sexually prowess Emma. Now, I know and indeed wanted the transition to occur, I just wish it would have taken a bit longer. Considering Emma's emotional state it just didn't seem realistic.

**********END SPOILER**********

The rest of the story was great and I enjoyed it immensely. All the worlds, aliens and creatures that Ms. Smith creates are so amazing and we get a heartfelt and satisfying HEA. If your looking for a sci-fi romance that is more on the sweeter side, you will LOVE this!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A warrior that is sent realing with emotions!!! 19 novembre 2014

I have to say....about half way thru and till the end I was crying.
Ha'ven is put out there as such a fierce warrior and one that is losing control. I was really worried after the first few chapters about Emma being so locked into her grief having to deal with him.
I was drawn in by the way Ha'ven would talk to his self and try to tone down his feelings and his actions around Emma.
Unlike some, I very much felt both of the characters and how they interacted with each other. Emma Watson so troubled and had turned so deep within that I couldn't see how this would ever work!! I think Ms. Smith must have really done her research on PTSD....and her way that she wrote for Ha'ven to deal with it all.
Then the way that Emma starts to come around!! Have mercy, but I just loved this story!!
Such emotion that she drew from them and I got so caught up in these two that I couldn't put it down!!!
I have to say that of all the stories....even the dragon's that this one pulled at my heart and is my favorite. I was so involved with how Emma came thru this all that I'm still crying but with happy tears....even knowing they are frictional people and it's not real.
That to me tells me alot about a writer!!! I loved Susan Smiths Valdier Series but she out did herself on Ha'ven!!! Thank you Susan for all your hard work and for pulling me in so deeply with this husband doesn't cause he can't understand why I was crying...lololol.
Would give you 50 stars if I could, just to make up for the people that read this and couldn't see or feel how well and deeply you went with this!!

All of the books by S. E. Smith have one thing in common. They are well written, the characters well fleshed out and the story lines keep you reading and wishing for more. When I read the first novel I had no idea that Susan was a famous writer with a large body of work to her credit. I have now read and reread all of her novels and short stories. I fully intend on coming back in the future to read them all again. Thankyou Susan for giving me the gift of your immense talent. You have made it possible for me to get through a very difficult past year knowing that no matter how hard it was just to get through a day or an hour I would be able to get away from my problems just by delving into one of these stories. To me they are priceless treasures and I can not thankyou enough for sharing them.

I am running out of adjectives to review S. E. Smith's books. Having just finished "Ha'ven's Song" (a spin-off from Dragon Lords of Valdier), I am stymied for descriptors. Again, the otherworld(s) and characters created by Ms. Smith are dynamic and fully realized -- even secondary characters come across as developed personalities. Yes, the male heroes are beautiful and strong, the women beautiful and smart, and all are fighting evil with their own special gifts. Sort of standard romance stuff, but the sic-fi component adds another dimension and adding human females to the mix -- yes! The course of true love is challenged in this book, also, but lots of action and fun dialogue in between the hopeful HEA. Emma and Ha'aven lead the characters in this book with the Curizan world and inhabitants being explored. Another dimension to this series and its spin-offs that I enjoyed immensely. I have a smile on my face having read this without lots of tension or fear (but enough suspense) to end the book happily looking forward to reading more from this author.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Ha'Ven's Song: A Beautiful Melody!! 24 novembre 2013

Five stars is too low for another literary masterpiece by S. E. Smith! Ha'Ven's Song picks right up where Paul's Pursuit left us hanging and absolutely DID NOT DISAPPOINT!

So far we have learned that there are three dominant species in this star system: 1) Curizan Warriors: A technologically advance race, many also have the ability to control the energy around and within them giving them additional powers. They are fierce fighters. They are ruled by the royal family Ha'darra. 2) Dragon shifting race with a golden symbiot. The Valdierians are ruled by the Reykill royal family. & 3) Sarafin Warriors: Cat-shifting race who are fierce fighters. They are ruled by the royal family d'Rojah. These three fierce warrior class planets are now allies after a century long dispute called "The Great Wars".

Since the Valdeierians & Sarafinians obviously change form, their "gifts" are hard to miss. However, beyond being "technologically" gifted, the Curizians have kept their "gifts" more secret. In Ha'Ven's Song, we learn much more about Ha'Ven & the Curizian people & to loyal readers of these series, that was FABULOUS!

Ha'Ven is, and has been forced to be, a strong, Alpha male, who survives "against all odds". He carries internal scars from the long, war that was (& still is) revealed to be filled with one traitor & evil plot after another.

Emma is slowly willing herself "away" due to her own mental war zone that she can't seem to escape. Though she PHYSICALLY survived her ordeal, does she have the will to move on? Where does she fit in, if any where?

Ha'Ven and Emma's "courtship" was precious & more unique than any of the other matings from previous stories. I was won over by Ha'Ven's patience & empathy towards Emma (even though he did reach his limit). And Emma did not just "miraculously" snap out of her mental state. S. E. Smith showed how real connection & investment of time, emotion & trust grew in stages.

Absolutely loved this book and recommend it to everyone along with all of the companion books! If you've just stumbled into this galaxy, you're in for a real treat!
