HASH(0x8dffae1c) étoiles sur 5 Best Warlock Album EVER 9 février 2008
Par Jesse Trent - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Every one of these songs is a hit. At the time in 1985, I lived in Germany and got to see Warlock at the Lorelei fest with Metallica, Venom, and a couple of other British acts. Warlock played early in the day and the German kids loved them! This album was in our constant rotation along with Metallica's "Ride the Lightning." We thought it was that good.

I had always been told that "Burning the Witches" was better, but years later when I actually found it, I was disappointed. "True As Steel" never really did it for me, either. I loved every song on this album, however. It's a raw, young, but experienced band you're hearing on this record.

I'm giving this disc five stars because I think the overall rating needs to be brought up a bit. This was always my favorite Warlock album. If you are a first timer, imagine Accept with a female vocalist and you may get an idea of what we're talking about.

HASH(0x8e4530d8) étoiles sur 5 Classic German heavy metal album - reissued 15 novembre 2013
Par Justin G. - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
Originally released in 1985, Hellbound was album number two from German heavy metal pioneers Warlock. Warlock, of course, was the band that introduced vocalist (and let's just say it, metal goddess) Doro Pesch, who proved metal was not just a man's game. Doro became a true icon in metal, and these early Warlock albums showcase her at the very beginning of her career.

There's such a great energy on Hellbound. Warlock was young, hungry and still developing their sound and borrowing heavily from bands like Accept, Judas Priest and Dio. The rawness and Doro's struggle with English lyrics never detract from the album and end up being part of its charm. It's just such a quintessentially metal album in style and energy you have to love it. "Hellbound," "Earthshaker Rock" and "Shout it Out" remain Doro/Warlock favorites, and the rest of the album is just as memorable.

It's not quite the classic that Triumph & Agony is, but Hellbound is definitely a key album in Warlock/Doro history, as well as a benchmark in the German heavy metal scene. It's an album that any serious Doro fan should own, especially now that it has been reissued.

Edition Notes: Metal Mind reissued Hellbound in 2011. Like all Metal Mind reissues, it comes in a numbered digipack (limited to 2000 copies). Unlike all other Metal Mind reissues, this does not specifically come advertised as remastered, even though the sound quality is noticeably improved over the original pressing. I don't know what the story behind that is. I just know that this version sounds louder and clearer, which is good enough for me. It also features a pair of bonus tracks - the studio song "Hellraiser" (the b-side from the "All Night" single release) and a live version of "Hellbound." Between the improved sound and the bonus tracks, this is a nice upgrade overall.

HASH(0x8e4534a4) étoiles sur 5 Warlock is just amazing metal. 18 mai 2011

Doro is raw, hard, and absoluetely amazing on this CD. I find it better than the other 4 Warlock Cds, which I also find to be great metal. But this one is my favorite. It doesn't matter if you are an older metal head or a new metal head. If you can appreciate the long 40 year history of metal and all its sub genres than you will love this CD,

Hellbound by Warlock is their heaviest album to date. And as a metal connisuer i know what good 80's metal is! not faster pussycat thats not metal! if you want some hard hitting metal buy this record this is the second album by Warlock and lead singer Doro pesch is really on in this one if you want to know more about warlock see my review on triumph and agony. doro pesch is the queen of metal not lita ford! although lita is a good artist. doro has kept it metal after warlock split up in the late 80's her first solo album was force majuer or something like that i havent bought it yet but its on my list. and shes still going strong, not to mention she in her mid to late 40's. I love metal and if you love metal you'll love this album.
