Présentation de l'éditeur

Brayden dreams for thirty nights, tortured by the vision of a beautiful woman. When Ariel Williams walks into his inn, he sees that she's the one he's been obsessed with in his night time journeys. But Ariel is fleeing an arranged marriage and keeps shyly to herself, until the worst happens and by mistake she casts a spell on a guest. Brayden works with Ariel to help her control her magic but discovers she's a High Witch - one of only three witches in the world with a rare kind of power.

Immediately the two must flee; evil warlock Julius wants to enslave Ariel - mind, heart and body. Julius and his lover the High Witch Nadia will stop at nothing to capture Ariel, and the danger threatens to tear Ariel apart from Brayden. Ariel's only hope is that her love for Brayden and her newly-discovered powers are strong enough to save them.

This is a NOVELLA of approximately 25,000 words.

Brayden finds his dreams being overtaken by a girl who feels so real to him that he's distracted and sleep deprived obsessing over her. Then, the very girl from his dreams steps into the inn he works in. He discovers that not only is she special, but she is a High Witch! Can they keep her from having to take the test that most High Witches fail or is she doomed to the same fate as all the High Witches before her?

This book was intensely magical. I adored it. Due to my busy schedule, it took me a few days to read it. I would have read it all in one sitting if I could. I actually did read most of it in one sitting. All in all, it was a cute and easy read. I LOVE the idea and concept behind it. The characters were also really easy to connect with.

Even though I loved this book, I did have some flaws with it. I felt that some of the parts in this book were very hastily written over. It was like they were rushed through. I didn't like that. I feel that they should have been drawn out a bit more. I feel this book could have been much better if it was written out longer to increase the suspense and terror factors. I also didn't really care for the fact that the mother is merely referenced and hardly has an actual role in the story. Even when she's actually in it.

I really did love this book. I'll be looking for more work from this author. It may have its flaws, but at the end, it's a great story concept. I love the imagination and creativity behind it. I fully recommend this book to anybody who loves fantasy books as much as I do! Last I checked, it's free too. not sure if it still is, but it's worth checking!

If you're into insta-love with an annoying female character who cries pathetically several times within the first few chapters- this is the book for you. However, I should say I didn't finish this novel. The writer has a good grasp of language, but wove an underwhelming story full of cliché and sex with characters that don't resonate or have depth.

The concept of the story is actually an intriguing one, however the brevity of the story limits this book's potential. The characters were not fleshed out to be anything more than two dimensional and while their love story is nice it didn't have depth. I love stories that make you feel happy/sad along with the characters, but with this one I just wasn't feeling it. Sorry. Thanks to the author for her work.

Every night, Brayden dreams of the same girl. Sleepless and distracted, he on the verge of losing his job at the inn. When Ariel takes a room in the inn, he's immediately smitten, even before he realizes she's the girl from his dreams. Ariel's on the run, intent of escaping an arranged marriage. But she has other secrets and it isn't long before Brayden discovers the truth. Ariel isn't just a witch--she's a High Witch and her life is in danger. Even with Brayden training and protecting her, she might not be able to escape the evil Julius.

High Witch was a quick, reasonably enjoyable read. The best thing about the book was the world building. The author did a great job of creating a fantasy world where magic is normal, though often not accepted. The plot was simple, but seeing as how this is a novella and not a full length novel, anything more complex would have been confusing. I thought the pacing was good with a great build up to the ending. The reason I didn't rate the book higher was because I found myself distracted and confused by the writing. The writing style is very straightforward and seemed like it was meant for young teens, but there were numerous sex scenes that were definitely not intended for a younger audience. Though this book is not marketed toward the YA audience, the stark contrast between the youthful writing and characters, and the intimate scenes was jarring. Of course, this is only my opinion. Other readers might not feel the same way.

I'd recommend the book to paranormal romance lovers over the age of seventeen who are looking for a fun, easy read.

This novella was a quick, not un-enjoyable read.

What I liked: the beginning. Hanna had me at the beginning. I couldn't wait to meet Ariel and learn about her secrets. The cover is very fun, and portrays the genre well, although I'm not sure it's entirely applicable. The ideas that Hanna works around, the three High Witches, is a really solid piece. This is something that I think a great story could expand from. But this novella just didn't quite hit it.

Ariel, the main character in question, seemed sweet but rather flat. She didn't really grip me much because she came across as co-dependent and oblivious. Any major character, especially one of three High Witchs, should be stronger and more interesting. Brayden was great, at first, but then he just came across as a love-sick kind of fop that wasn't realistic at all. Once Brayden and Ariel got together, it fizzled into a romance that wasn't very believable and revolved around sex.

A lot of the problems with this book could be ironed out with expansion of character and plot. Because it was such a short read, it lead to a lot of telling. A lot. Working more into who Ariel is, and the back story driving the conflict, as well as a bit more world-building, could really take this story places.

If there is another book, I would like to read it, mostly to see how the author develops and changes her style based on the reviews from this one.
