I decided to get this when it was free, and while I think it would be great for those that measure using a scale, it is not easy for those of who do not. I would not recommend this book to anyone else.

I have yet to download the updated version, but I just could not in good conscience continue in giving this a bad review. The author continues to keep in communication above and beyond what is reasonable. He listened to idea's and has said that he implemented them. I plan on re-downloading the book this weekend so that I can give a fair review. As well as try out the recipes!

...this collection is definitely worth a look.

As the sub-title states: Recipes beyond the basic loaf.

And there are a lot of choices to be found in this comprehensive collection including:

Monk's Bread

Focaccia

Lavash

Vienna Bread

Bagels

and many more.

The recipes are well explained with both metric and imperial measurements provided. Photos are included throughout too.

Definitely a keeper if you love fresh from the oven bread! ;-)

I am going to review this one because my wife very rarely does so even when something is so good as this book. WARNING: This is a dangerously packed book - if you have someone at your home who is even bit enthused to experiment with new bread recipes then better you prepare your self for a feast! I mean bread isn't 'main thing' some may argue however we all eat some sort of it, every day. I am very happy we got one and I am even more happy my wife decided to try new home made breads. It has to be easy to follow book, because I see new goodies almost every 2nd day!

I have to admit I got this for my wife. I do not bake very well myself and this book is not for the beginner, but it is a terrific book to learn how to make some different kinds of bread that you may not have tried before. We've only had a chance to make a couple different kinds so far, but I'm really liking what she is making. I think the recipes are easy to understand and the product is really good.

The recipies in this book are not easy to follow and have incorrect measurement conversions. There are missing steps that I assume are things experienced bread makers may know, but I don't. After attempting a few of the recipies and failing, I started to calculate my own conversions and they are off from what the book says. Being a UK book they used grams instead of oz, etc. This can cause big problems if they are not converted exactly when baking. I'm a beginner so I need the ingredients to be exact. I wasted about a pound of flour trying these things out only to have them not turn out correctly. Very disappointed.
