Amazing book for all employees & employers everywhere!!!! I am going to buy each of my employees a copy as soon as the paperback version comes out. This is a great way to set expectations right up front. It helps employees know what is expected of them (alleviating the at times awkward conversations employers must have with their employees), and if everyone reads it, creates a positive work environment. Reinforces simple, common sense requirements of what it means to be an employee, & a few of the more complex topics. Obviously, I highly recommend it! It would be a great gift for new hires or an employee appreciation week.

I was a bit skeptical about there being anything useful here because of the title. I thought that it was just a joke book, but the fact is pretty much everything in the book is sound advice. I am a manger at a company and I hope for a team of people that follows the advice in the book and they are things I strive to do myself. Some of the things discussed are "Never cover up mistakes", "Are masters of time", "Play for the team", and "Have short noses". I recommend this book to anyone who wants to become a better employee and have a long lasting fruitful career.

Anyone going into the workplace or already there needs to read this. Some of the instructions are a little simplistic even for high school, but most of it works across the board. Nice refresher for seasoned employees. Employers would do well to follow some of these ideas as well.

HASH(0x988689b4) étoiles sur 5 First list of "how to make your job easier" ... 13 mars 2013

Very nice. This book's table of contents is the first list I've ever seen of how to make one's job easier (in the sense that if you are doing all the right things in any given job, especially in a challenging job, your daily grind becomes easier over time). It would be trite to run through the book's entire contents, but I did not see one thing in the table of contents that I disagreed with (I'm reading the book as I update this review). Show up for work? Yep, and the funny part is watching the antics of people who miss work a lot, and then show up again complaining about how they are "not in the loop" and can't figure out "what's going on." And the author's first reference to the "show up" rule made me realize why hiring managers always thanked me when I called to turn down a job (I guess they sometimes do not hear back from other potential hires while communicating about a job opening). I've also discovered that the author has a number of other similar titles, ranging from How to be a Totally Awesome Spouse, Missionary and (Person). Guess I'll have to buy them all. Argh! Not enough time to read everything I want to read these days ...

Fan.Tas.Tic. Excellent. Spectacular. Epic.

All of these words define this book. Having witnessed one of my two daughters regularly being a "jerk-face", I decided to bring up one chapter per day during our breakfast discussion. Let me tell you... after the success of "show up", I knew this book was a dream come true. On day two, both of my daughters (16, 10) SHOWED UP for the breakfast discussion, fully present and engaged. I've never seen anything like it!

I'm also fairly certain that the girls learned a lot from reading about the effects on other employees when you DON'T show up. Brilliant.

On day three, I read the "Aren't Jerk-Faces" chapter. The guilty daughter just sat there quietly, realizing on her own she was not being a team player. It's been three days and the difference in my home is unbelievable. While it's impossible to explain an "attitude problem" to children, Melody made it very clear in her definition of a jerk-face!

Thank you, Ms. Litton, for enabling this mom to send out awesome employees into the world! At 2.99, you did the world a grand favor!
