I like testing speakers, especially small affordable ones. I've owned a few different computer / portable speaker systems.
This one is by far the best sounding I have heard. (I also compared it to a many competitors by listening to comparison reviews on Youtube.)
It's larger and heavier than the smaller ones- you could carry it in a backpack but not in pocket or purse. The sound quality more than makes up for it. You can only get so much sound out of a tiny speaker system. It's not much bigger in size than may comparable bluetooth speakers, although it is heavy.
I'm amazed at the presence and soundstage of this system. I put one under my computer monitor and connected to it with a cable rather than bluetooth- which should give better sound quality. I then compared this to a big computer speaker system with a large woofer and two satellite speakers. While the larger system had a crisper and more detailed high end, and much more substantial bass, it did not have the same midrange clarity and presence for movie soundtracks. The Infinity's sound seems to come from a large area around the monitor, not from the speaker itself. It is detailed and easier to understand dialog than the large system or any of several headphones. It does not sound like a small portable speaker at all- tinniness is totally absent.
So I use the large system for music, but the small portable Infinity is way better for movies, and takes up 4% of the space.
The sound quality is good enough to enjoy any type of music including classical or jazz. It has a smooth sound that I associate with high end Infinity speakers that cost thousands of dollars.
It is easy to use, ruggedly built, compact, and very good looking. The radiators at each end are well designed and effective. It looks like quality engineering and quality materials. It is heavy, but that is a good thing for a speaker's sound quality- meaning strong magnets and resistance to vibration, as well as rugged construction. I believe the heavy (5 lb) weight is necessary for the high sound quality this speaker delivers for its size (I measure it as 4" in diameter by 9" long).
It has a speaker phone system that turns on and off automatically when linked to a phone, very convenient. While I can always hear the other end pretty well, sometimes the other person reports muddy sound, sometimes clear sound. The problem may occur when both of us are using speaker phones at the same time, so it might be due in part to the other end. The speaker phone is definitely usable and handy, but maybe not always giving the best sound quality for the other person.
While the bluetooth worked great with a phone and a tablet, it did not work with Windows 7. It connected but I could not get the Windows 7 sound setup to go to the speaker. The problem could be my bluetooth adapter, my not knowing the complexities of Windows sound setup, or that Windows has issues with bluetooth sound. I did not want to spend a lot of hours on solving this since I didn't need the feature- using a cable connection gives better sound since it uses the computer's sound card's DAC and pre-amp, via analog signal, instead of using the bluetooth compression scheme.
Sound quality good enough for someone like me that likes expensive speakers to enjoy classical and jazz music, and excellent sound quality for film soundtracks that beats larger computer systems.
Good looking, rugged, compact, ergonomic controls.
Bluetooth works flawlessly.
Loud enough to fill a small room.
Too heavy and large to carry around everywhere, but portable for events.
Speakerphone may not have best technology but is adequate.
Complex troubleshooting to hook to Windows 7 via blueooth instead of cable, at least for me.
The audio was a little tricky to figure out at first. I have a Samsung Note Edge, whereas my girlfriend uses an iPhone 6. With the Note Edge, I found that the volume on the Infinity One and the media volume control of the phone work independently of one another. I found it easier, that once I paired my Samsung with the Infinity One speaker, to turn the Infinity One to full volume and then control how loud or quiet I want it with my phone. I've seen several posts online where people have volume issues when using their Samsung smartphones to bluetooth audio devices. Once I've adjusted the settings like above, the sound can get fairly loud. The iPhone 6 has no issues with this. media volume of the iPhone and the Infinity One sync to be one volume.....my suggestion for iPhone users would be to pair your device, but PRIOR to playing media, turn your media volume all the way down. The iPhone's volume level is fairly sensitive, and unless you want a good heart check, you may want to heed my volume warning, lol.
The unit itself is a little heavy, but nothing anyone can't handle easily. The craftsmanship of the Infinity One is very well done. It's looks to be made with high quality materials. Again, this is only a few days old, but so far, it's been a great purchase.
