Présentation de l'éditeur

There are few skills more important to the modern fact finder than the ability to obtain information through effective interviewing. While most interviewing books are intended for law enforcement, they often present harsh and accusatory techniques that can be counterproductive in private sector investigations.

I
nvestigative Interviewing: Psychology, Method and Practice covers modern techniques for private sector investigative interviews. Investigative Interviewing: Psychology, Method, and Practice is the best of the best when it comes to books on Investigative Interviewing. Whether you are an amateur Investigator or a well-seasoned pro, Mr. Ferraro breaks down the process of investigative interviewing into straight-to-the-point, digestible sub-chapters that anyone can grasp, comprehend, and then put into practice. With the use of quick tips, diagrams, and images, I was able to gain a better understanding of the fundamentals and process of investigative interviewing, including understanding body language cues, overcoming denials, dealing to reluctant interviews, and interviewing those who are members of the collective bargaining agreements, and much more.

I would recommend this book to anyone in the field of investigations, but particularly to those in Human Resources, Loss Prevention, Security, and those in Upper Management levels.

If you are faced with internal/external investigations as part of your job description, this book is a must have! Eugene Ferraro is a true professional with over 30 years of experience as a hands-on, seasoned investigator and expert witness. And, there is no doubt after participating in his 4 day class on "Investigative Interviewing" and "Investigations in the Workplace" that he is guided by an ethical compass of the highest standard and knows this subject matter inside and out.

Not only is E. F. Ferraro a world class corporate and business investigator he is also a very talented writer. Having read several of his books I find all of them easy to read, interesting, informative, insightful, and quite thought provoking. As software development professional with decades of experience at all levels of project architecture and development I sincerely wish I could have had available this body of knowledge much earlier in my career. The vast knowledge and wisdom Mr. Ferraro shares with his readers, his clients, and those who are fortunate enough to attend one of his many training seminars is priceless. Not only does he present an effective and easy to follow investigative and interview methods/processes he also provide a clear recipe to creating investigative reports that solve a wide range of issues that are often win-win for employers and employees. Investigative Interviewing should be required reading for all professionals responsible for the management and leadership of others. Reading, digesting, and reflection is the process Mr. Ferraro stimulates in his readers. To attempt to read the book straight through would be like trying to drink from a fire hydrant. Like with most great authors, I enjoyed reading this book a morsel at a time and typically asking myself why didn't I thank of that when seeking a greater understand of an issue so many time in the past.
