Basically what this book says is that you can join the Ironman triathlon even with less than 2 months preparation. The book discusses what should be done everyday for 6 weeks to prepare your body for the race. It enumerates the list of exercises and the amount of time your should allot for each exercise. Don't worry, there are also rest days. It's a good book for someone who wants to join an upcoming triathlon but only has 2 months or less to prepare, this book will help you a lot.

This book jumps straight into the six week program with no real foundation or theories behind the training. I think it give you what you need and is eye opening to see what level of training you can do to get you through an Ironman Triathlon.
But...this book clearly states that it is not for someone who has been sitting on their buts for the past 5 years and would only recommend that someone under take this program unless they are fit and have been active for some time before.

I got this for my son who is a distance runner in his senior year of high school. I read through as well and can see that the book is packed with outstanding information regarding conditioning as well as how to prep for and deal with this sort of massive race on the day of the competition. The book covers all of the sports required and can be applied to other endurance sports as well. I highly recommend this book for athletes.

You must have some longer runs and bike days prior to this to get your body accustom to being in motion for 8+ hours.

Don't neglect long walks or hikes of 6 or more hours to let your body know what being in motion for a long time is like!
