The Italian Cooking From Scratch cookbook by author Eric Beuning tells about how to prepare classic Italian recipes using no short cuts. For example the author gives information on the different types of pasta (with explanations of the differences between dried pasta and fresh pasta) and goes onto to explain how to make your own pasta. His book is filled with friendly family stories and cooking experiences that will help teach the reader how to cook Italian dishes at home.

Some of the recipes you will find in his cookbook include:

Making Fresh Pasta
Making Classic Marinara Sauce
Linguine with Clam Sauce
Baked Ziti

You will find a chapter called Growing and Cooking Italian Vegetables that includes details such as: Heirloom verus Hybrid; Planning for garden and kitchen; and then details some of the Italian-based garden plants you can grow for kitchen use.

From beginning to end this is a most interesting cook book. It is more than a cookbook. It gives the reader a greater understanding of Italian foods, Pasta Lasagna, Ravioli and several others. It is suitable for an introduction to Italian foods but suitable for those who enjoy cooking Italian foods because it gives the reader quite an insight into how to cook, what to cook and the equipment to use in every recipe.
Beyond cooking, the book lays out the steps in growing ingredients for use in cooking the foods. It explains the best methods of growing herbs and tells you when, where and how to grow them. Compliments to this author.

Great book. It's very detailed and consistent. It has a really serious and dedicated feel. Someone invested a lot in organizing all the information and recipes in a perfect structure and formatting everything nicely.
I learned a lot of new recipes and instructions were totally helpful. Many details on making pasta at home (everything, not only boiling it!). Lots of info on vegetables to grow and use. A lot of advice on herbs that work well with specific ingredients. I totally enjoyed the less well-known Italian dishes.
Pleasant writing style, too!

I needed a lasagna recipe, it's more impressive if you made it from scratch and the taste difference is worth it. I make egg noodles and make half for freezer for quicker prep the second time. thanks for the recipe Eric.
