Présentation de l'éditeur

Audie nominee, Best Romance Audiobook, 2015
Everyone needs to be rescued sometimes.
Everyone but Hannah Montgomery, that is. She just needs a vacation. Three weeks in New Zealand to sort out her life, figure out what she wants, seems just right. Oh, and to relax. She should definitely put that on the agenda. She certainly isn’t looking for a sexy fling with a professional rugby player, no matter how attractive he is. Hannah doesn’t do casual. But maybe just this once ...

As much as he’s shared with Hannah, Drew Callahan has kept one very big secret: that he's the captain of the All Blacks, New Zealand's international rugby team, not to mention the best-known rugby player on earth. And learning the truth, now that she’s back home again, has made Hannah warier than ever. Drew knows that she’s right for him. But how can he convince her to let down her guard enough to explore what they could have together?

Note: This romance, like New Zealand, contains some steam. If that isn't your cuppa, you may want to visit another country ... er, book.

Really glad I stummbled across this book. I'm a huge rugby fan, and am now a NZ and All Black fan too because of this book! Well written, and whilst it is definitely a romance, the characters are realistic: things don't just magically go the way the characters/reader wants them to. I really was sucked in to Drew and Hannah's story and couldn't put it down. Highyl recommended.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Cinderella story that feels realistic 1 septembre 2012

I read this book because the New Zealand setting caught my eye, I was looking for a fun read, and the sample drew me in--her character seemed a little more complex than the typical romance heroine--and I liked the humor. The only problem is, now I REALLY want to go to New Zealand!

I liked how "realistic" the book felt. OK, I get that it's a fantasy, but I like Cinderella stories, the characters were believable and the dialogue was great, and I got caught up in the story. I did want to shake the heroine at times, but I also understood why she behaved the way she did. And the hero, of course, was pretty delicious. The sex was hot, there were funny parts that made me laugh, and the ending was very satisfying. Overall, a feel-good read that was truly romantic, without insulting my intelligence.

I can't disagree with any of the previous reviewers about this book. I read it in the span of a few hours because I simply could not put it down! And when I finished, I went right back to the beginning and read it again.

Like the others, I loved the fact that the characters in this book were "real". The heroine had some serious emotional issues that didn't magically disappear in a chapter. Although the hero did seem a little too good to be true, but heck, isn't that the point? Who wouldn't love to be swept off their feet by a hunky rugby player who loves to play the provider and protector?

The author successfully creates a wonderful backdrop of New Zealand and its cultural treasures without distracting from the main storyline. And while the love scenes are hot, they aren't over the top.

I have found a new favorite author in Mrs. James and look forward to reading her other novels.

or should I say choice? This is a great story and it's so nice to read a book with a NZ setting. I moved to NZ when I was 15 and it really is a special place. Rosalind James does a great job of capturing the kiwi essence in the book while still telling a well developed story with wonderful characters. My husband moved from the US to NZ for what he thought was a two year work contract and 14 years later he is still downunder, we just live across the ditch in Oz now but he is an All Blacks fan for life. New Zealand must be the least status aware country in the world, there are only two types of people there, kiwis and All Blacks and the All Blacks really do carry the hopes and dreams of a nation on their shoulders.

Get the book, enjoy the story and then get on a plane (Air NZ of course) and go to New Zealand - awesome scenery, fabulous people, plenty to do and great coffee everywhere in Wellington. My husband's elderly uncle described it as "the US in the fifties".

Can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Great in the beginning, lost steam as it went along 9 mars 2013

First, what I loved about this book is that it rather got me over a reading slump. It was exactly what I needed - romance, exotic location, great plot. I was making a point of reading because I really wanted to see where this story went. I also loved it being in New Zealand. I've always wanted to go there, and this book made me want to go even more!

But as the story went along especially around the 2/3 - 3/4 mark I got really, really tired of Hannah. I got tired of her turning Drew down all the time, and that he kept just being understanding and dealing with it. They fell in love, she moved away from everyone she knew to another country to be with him, yet she kept questioning when he would leave her for all the other women who surely wanted him. She had a problem with him being famous. Well sweetheart, it was kind of part of the package.

Anyhow, I finished the book, but at the end it was more "I've put this much into it, might as well". I do think that Ms. James is a good writer, and perhaps the other books in this series are better.

Loved the start.... and the last chapter... but the in between...?? No.... Almost gave a 2 star...

I am a kiwi and I actually found parts of this book a bit annoying as sometimes I thought it made us Kiwis seems a little simple and the way it made us sound... seriously are we that bad? Maybe I am judging it harder as I am a Kiwi? The worse for me was when they first had sex and he wanted to do it like horse's?? Hello???

I also felt that I didn't form a relationship with the characters, Hannah just seemed so boring and there was nothing that made me what to grab on to her and love her... Drew was better, but maybe only because he was an All Black.

I also found the over use of comma's (,) really really annoying! I so nearly put the book down, but did want to know where the book was going to go.

End of the day, there is no way I would read any other books in this series or author. I love a good romance and I don't normally review so harshly but honesty this book is a romance I don't need to follow. Sorry for my bluntness, but I can't believe this book has such a high review rating.

PS - "A Kiwi Glossary" at the end of the book, was that a joke??? How come American or British books don't have one? ( i don't think they need one!).. A Maori Glossary would of been great.... but a Kiwi?
i.e. "Brilliant - Fantastic" "Cuddle - Hug" ??? Seriously???
