Présentation de l'éditeur

**GIVING CHASE, book number 2 in the Better Off Dead series is now live on Amazon. Don't forget to pick up your copy after you enjoy KILLING CHASE.

Sometimes second chances can kill you.

From the moment he woke that early March morning, Chase Hampton knew, once he was released from prison later that day, he was never going back. No matter what.

Born into a wealthy but flawed North Carolina shipbuilding family, Chase was somehow immune to the dysfunction. The sky was the limit for the 18-year old football prodigy, until one terrible event changed the course of his life and prison became his new home. Through the highs and lows of his incarceration, there was one person he couldn’t forget, no matter how hard he’d tried: childhood best friend Bailey Masters. For reasons unknown to him, she'd shunned him ever since her mysterious return to Foggy Harbor at the beginning of their sophomore year.

Now, seven years into a twelve-year manslaughter sentence, Chase is given an unusual second chance, one that comes with its own set of rules. Suddenly, he's thrust into a position he's not ready for: the tip of the spear in a quiet war against an American enemy. A war that could cost him his family . . . and his life.

Biographie de l'auteur

Ben Muse is the author of Break It, Eager Eaglets: Birds of Play, and Killing Chase, set to be released in June 2013. A lifetime Georgia native, he was born in Atlanta and now calls Acworth home. He resides there with his wife, children's book author Angela Muse, Tyler (9),Caitlin (6), a mother-in-law, an Australian Shepherd named Twiz, a black cat named Spooky, and the diva of the house, a grey tabby named Stormy. He can't paint, sing, sculpt, or play a musical instrument, so he's decided to try his hand at writing, and the jury is still out on that. His hobbies include golf (terrible), traveling (hates to fly), obstacle racing (ugh!) and vacuuming (excels here) and he writes whenever he can: mornings between answering phones, in carpool waiting to pick up kids, and late at night when no one's a stirrin. He's just started on his next novel, Arnco, and hopes to have it out by mid-November.

My first book review ever, and I saved my first review for one of the best books I've read in a while.

Like many other people I decided to take a "chance" buy reading a sample and then purchasing the book. I have to admit I've been reading a lot of newer authors to provide myself with new and refreshing material as well as to put money into the pocket of the hardworking and well deserving author. This book is certainly worth the $3.50 and I also purchased his other serious book Break It.

Killing Chase offers great writing with a great and captivating storyline from start to finish. Chapters are the perfect length and keep you wanting to keep reading even when you should be sleeping, working or doing something else. The overall length is nice as well.

The detail he goes into is fantastic and helps one paint a picture in the mind. The number of characters and names is also decent enough to keep you from getting confused.

The idea and story is certainly plausible but probably not the most probable. However, most books seem to be that way.

My favorite part of the book is truly the way it ended. Not to ruin any surprise but the end leaves it open enough to write subsequent books using some of the same characters. I only assumed that other books would be coming seeing is this is the first book in the Better Off Dead series.

Although a short and minor review written on my tablet, I admit that I wouldn't have even written a review of I didn't love the book.

I highly recommend this book along with Mr. Muse's other book Break It!!!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Totally Entertaining Thriller! 13 juin 2013

This was the second book I have read by new author Ben Muse. I was amazed at this new talent's writing ability in his first book, Break It and this second book, Killing Chase, was even better!

Killing Chase is a totally entertaining thriller that has had me glued to my Kindle the last few nights. The book offers something for everyone - suspense, drama, humor, romance with twists and turns that will have you racing to the conclusion.

Muse has a special kind of writing talent, brilliantly and seamlessly weaving separate storylines into one. He keeps you completely engrossed in the characters - each of them being deep and interesting. The author drops discrete hints of what is to come, while at the same time describing every thought, emotion and scene with tremendous clarity. There are a few surprises along the way that will challenge your expectations.

This book has a very compelling and enticing plot throughout, but the last chapter of the book was exceptional - requiring a vision and writing skill level that is rare.

I still can't believe I was reading only the second book from this author - I thought the writing complexity and detail was sure to be that of a well established author. I'd put this one up there with the Kindle Bestsellers any day!

Killing Chase (The Better Off Dead Series)I wasn't really sure what to expect when I first picked it up. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in an engaging story with lots of twists and turns. At first I thought the ending was a bit "meh" but!....wait for it...epilogue!! I enjoyed it to the point that I found myself perusing Amazon.com to see if there were any other titles by this author. I can't wait to see what comes next!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 secret agent thriller without all that much thrill to it. 17 septembre 2015

A recent Kindle freebie.

Chase is a man doing 15 years for manslaughter who is given a chance to get out by the feds if he will spy on his family for them.

It had potential, but like many such secret agent stories, the secret agent was too perfect and every chick that got near him wanted to jump in bed with him.

I never really believed much of the story including the part where he got a long prison sentence in the first place. With the kind of money his father had, and the facts of the case, he would never have spent more than a year or two in minimum security somewhere. Probably would not have even done jail at all.

But, it did have some nice action in it here and there but a lot of it kind of dragged along. The focus of the book seemed to be how many hot chicks he could bed as fast as possible. Not that I am opposed to that in a book, but there has to be more than that for me to truly appreciate a book of this genre.

On the whole an average, maybe slightly above average secret agent thriller, without all that much thrill to it, but still readable.

This is another book that has a fair number of 4 and 5 star reviews that I just do not understand.

I was not familiar with the writer Ben Muse, but now that I am, I will have to research his other books. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the book was written. The plot is feasible, the action is continuous and the end is a bit of a surprise; all things that make a suspense book worth the read.

Chase Hampton is in jail for manslaughter and still has years to go on his sentence. He suddenly is approached by the FBI who promise to free him if he works for them. The "work" is actually at his father's company, where they make custom yachts for millionaires. The FBI wants him to plant bugs, and find out who is working on the inside with a wealthy Russian who also happens to hate the US. From there, Chase is released and the action goes into high gear.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review on Amazon. I was not paid for the privilege but I still strongly recommend "killing Chase."
