Présentation de l'éditeur

Second Edition 2013

While cleaning out the drawers of her recently deceased grandmother’s dresser, Anna Kippling finds a skeleton key that ironically only opens one door and from the wrong side. On the other side, instead of the small staircase leading down to the second floor, Anna finds another world awaiting her, a world her grandmother calls Tatania among other strange entries written inside a journal Anna finds inside an old steamer trunk in the attic.

After deciding to venture into this foreign land, Anna quickly finds herself in hostile territory. A Chancellor wants her dead and others believe she is the chosen one. A grey eyed, blonde hunk named Hayden rescues her, but he also sends Anna's stomach into knots and her knees close to buckling.

Amongst romance and an ominous threat of a Chancellor looming over her, Anna also finds herself in situations she would have never fathomed to happen upon. Along with fighting abnormally large birds, hiding in magical tree trunks, and eating magical beads, she also must try to rescue an Empress.
With a necklace of invisibility, a time turning bracelet and a dagger, this is still no easy task for her and Anna doesn’t need her newly acquired Book of Answers to figure that either.

It seems in this world, nothing is ever simple here for Anna Kippling, but she is also slowly learning nothing is impossible either; not even for her.

How far would you go to reach your potential? How much would you sacrifice for love? And… is it possible to outwit death?

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great fantasy story 14 mars 2012

After just finishing the trylle trilogy, I was looking for another fantasy series. I am happy to say I have found a great one. The characters are well crafted, and the story seems to draw you in rather quickly. After reading this one I can't wait to start on the next one! Bravo!

I first want to admit that I know the author personally. However, that has not influence my opinion of this book. A.D. Duling is fresh faced and just getting her feet wet with this first offering, but has done the important work needed towards building a good series for her target audience. She has laid down a fine foundation in her story and has set about telling it in rich detail that leaves you wanting for the next page, and at books end, for the next in the series. We are sure to see our author grow in her story-telling skills, right along with our ongoing story. I can't wait and a little happy that I might just get an advanced peek!

This book is a great read. I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I think by offering book 1 for free was a wise idea.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Good story line 27 juin 2012

This has the potential to be an incredible book. However, having said that, the editing is atrocious. I kept getting jolted from the story by misspellings and incorrect word usage. If the author would proof-read as well as using spell check, this would be an absolutely engaging read. The story line and characters were well written; with elements that were new and refreshing, and I did continue to read it to the end, even with the bad editing.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Discover a new world with The Key 20 juillet 2013

The Key begins in our world following 17-year-old Anna Kippling one week after the death of her grandmother. As she and her mother pack away her grandmother's belongings, Anna finds a peculiar key and, after searching the whole house, discovers that it opens a door to a world called Tatania. Anna soon learns that her arrival was expected in Tatania and that the Chancellor wants her dead.

I found Anna to be a believable character. She is slightly unsure of herself and has a bit of an attitude, but is smart and sassy. Thrust in an uncertain situation with a lot on her shoulders, she acts how I would expect her to. She's not perfect, yet still a strong character, and I found that refreshing. I would have liked the pace to be a tad slower when she arrives in Tatania, if only to have more time to watch her relationships develop more with the other characters.

There are a few typographical errors and a couple of homophone mix-ups (vial instead of vile, for example), but nothing major.

The Key drew me in immediately and kept me there until the end with a good storyline and characters I care about.
